We visited off season, but the bar full of locals. No food except popcorn, there's a (loud) jukebox and a number of TVs, as well as some outdoor seating/smoking area. Cash only. Never felt more uncomfortable in a place. The bartender was rude and obnoxious. Two ladies that seemed like off duty employees, sat at the end of the bar making nasty remarks and laughing at other customers. All three of them, the bartender included, were cussing at a couple of patrons about the choice of football teams they supported, and told them to get the eff out of the bar. We couldn't drink our watered down plastic cup beverages fast enough to get out of there. They reminded me of the mean girls from high school that loved to make others feel like crap. I assume it's because they lack kindness and beauty....inside and out!!! For a place that seemed more catered to locals that don't mind being treated like garbage, the place should really be located off the main strip and in a back alley somewhere. If I wanted to be treated like that, I would have just gone to Dirty Dicks. At least there I would have gotten some decent food, better drinks, and been made fun of by much classier ladies!! read more

Poor customer service from the female with the saggy titties and really old crusty highlights in her hair. Literally yells in your face in front of everyone demanding a tip and slamming the tip jar. Would not recommend coming here if workers are going to have the type of attitude towards customers. read more

I went here recently when I was on vacation in North Carolina. The bar is right by the beach, which is nice, but there are better places to go. Note that it's a cash-only bar, and they don't accept cards. They also don't serve food, but that didn't bother me as much as the attitude of the employees. I've worked in customer service, so I understand that people have bad days, but the staff's treatment of customers seemed uncalled for. This one blonde female bartender in particular was just really rude. All in all, I still had a great vacation. But yeah, I'm glad that I didn't waste too much time here. read more

Cold cold beer! Interesting decor, light coming n lots of windows, no longer the dice bar of Atlantic Beach Circle of the past. Very modernized. T-shirts for sale along with draft, canned, bottled beers, wine and a full bar. Music piping in, playing great songs that are reminiscent of the days when Molly Hatchet played the circle. The space is clean and welcoming, even to dogs. A wide assortment of ages and even a party van--not Stevie Levy, but a rowdy birthday crew. read more

Crazy roided up asshole barbacks??? I don't normally make reviews but my friends and I were just sitting around a table when thirty minutes after what I think was a small joke about a case of beers, one of the employees walked up throwing us out. I can't stress enough how we weren't even touching the said case of beers or doing anything remotely inappropriate in a bar setting. We were here after a wedding and chilling calmly in the corner and the tacklebox employee rocked up with this crazy aggressive energy. If we had been 21 year old assholes aggressive with the staff from the jump rocking up to the establishment, I would understand and actually support our removal. But truly the staff member walked up to our group in the middle of a conversation about what type of uber to order home when he decided to order us out of the establishment?? My bud, I could barely stand on my feet, I don't think I need to haul your bargain price coors light away, king. Just truly weird aggressive behavior from one of the most mediocre establishments I've ever walked into. read more

I came here last year for my honey moon, and the service was so/so, nothing to complain about, but I am BLOWN AWAY with how above and beyond the service was tonight. Just to start, Tackle Bock was taken out badly by hurricane Flo last year, and my God, talk about a come back. I am beyond impressed with Tina's service tonight. I just moved here from Denver, and this was the first place that I felt at home. It's been amazing. The place is packed, the music is outstanding, and Tina went above and beyond to make sure I felt at home, and even introduced me to the owner! THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN ANYWHERE! Perhaps this review is biased by a post wedding-reception buzz, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Tavern -- it is exactly what I'd picture a dive bar on the beach to be: a no-frills interior festooned with beach trinkets and glitzy twinkle lights, plenty of 90s music on the Jukebox, cornhole (in the sand!!!) out back, a super chill patio, and strong, inexpensive drinks served in plastic cups. The bartender was super friendly (well, okay, as a Northerner, I found everyone here to be abnormally friendly, but I think that's just me) and Marines composed at least 2/3 of the clientele. It was like a (way) less pretentious Waikiki. My sister and I stopped in for post-wedding drinks on our walk home, and had a blast. My son and I decided to take a trip to the beach yesterday. This business establishment is one that we would pass by. Walking towards us was a Hispanic family who reached this building first. As they walked by some customers (all caucasian) began to yell out to them speaking in Spanish in a mockingly way. As my 5 yr old son and I approached one of the men yelled at me, "Bring your ass here Serena Williams" as the customers laughed!! At not one point did any staff member try to correct this problem. That is a BIG problem. He kept at it until we were far enough not to hear it. The waitresses were Okay they definitely take care of their regular customers without realizing that vacationers would probably tip more if they were friendlier. We actually visited a few times and thought it was funny to hang out at. No food, cash only. And there was a DJ that plays whatever you want as long as he had it. Smokers seem to stay outside on the back patio. Bathrooms are clean. Cons: Cash only. They have no food at all. This might as well be a beer bar, they do not use quality ingredients to make drinks and they are served in disposable cups. Indeterminate: I've been twice. It tends to get busy late night (which is a good thing), has two porches and a sanded area with picnic tables and chairs to lounge in. Bar is all cash but they have an atm inside for convenience. I've never tried the restaurant next door but, the bar has a super chill vibe. Most of the bartenders are awesome like Mary and Brandon, but tonights bartender, Kelly, had a terrible attitude. I came in, alone , around 6 pm and Brandon was still on day shift trying to do closing work and serve drinks at the same time. The night shift bartender, Kelly, had a bad attitude as soon as she came in and tried to interrupt my conversation with the other bartender to get my drink order and acted very annoyed when I wasn't ready to order. I only had one cocktail and went back to the beach to watch the volleyball games. When the games were over I came back to Tackle Box with a group of 8, which didn't help her mood at all. After only one round, Kelly decided to express very loudly that she wasn't making enough money and disappeared into the back for 5 minutes, so several of us decided to leave because we didn't like her attitude. Our group would have stayed for at least a couple of hours, with some of us being servers ourselves, tipping her very well. read more
