Upping my review tonight...the food we ordered for takeout was DELICIOUS. Apparently the Thai dishes are the way to go. As I stated before, they do NOT skimp on portions NOR the proteins of their entrees. We had the shrimp pad thai, the thai basil beef fried rice...and the combo singapore noodles. After eating pizzas, pasta, and subs for several days we all needed a change up and decided to order from here. Is it the best Chinese food? No. But is it the worst? No. It is what it is for a small beach town--I think it's the only Chinese restaurant near our rental without having to cross the bridge to Moorhead City? They have very reasonable lunch specials that was more than enough food for one person. I would not recommend any of the Teriyaki items, it was a lot of food but it was not very good and came with with this white sauce. Beef and broccoli, kung pao chicken, lo mein, chicken and garlic sauce were all decent. FYI, the pork dishes are all made with roast pork. read more

After growing up in Maine, where the Chinese food isn't great, I had low expectations, but this place really impressed me and now it's my favorite lunch/dinner spot in the area. Delicious!!! We had the general tso's chicken, dumplings, vegetable lo mein, and sesame chicken and it was all wonderful. The fried rice is amazing as well, some of the best I've had. Even the sauce for the dumplings wasn't just regular soy sauce in a packet, it was delicious! The indoor was super clean and the workers were very nice and helpful! We are locals year round in Atlantic Beach and treasure this family run Asian restaurant. Favorite dishes include the Singapore noodles, Mongolian beef, and Kung Pao Chicken. Everything is fresh made to order so patience is key. Never had a bad dish. Eat here and/or do carry out once a week. And you cannot beat the $5 lunch specials. China King is a thoroughly adequate strip-mall Chinese joint. Food comes from the kitchen on styrofoam plates into a dining room that looks like every other strip-mall Chinese restaurant you've ever been in. The real key for my group, though, was the many tofu/bead curd options on the menu. There were two listed on their daily specials board with several other options listed on the regular menu. The two vegans, two vegetarians, and one tofu-loving omnivore were very very pleased - plenty of filling vegan eats for a very reasonable price. We'll undoubtedly be back. read more

STAY AWAY! Absolutely terrible. Went in because were on vacation. Sign says 11-2 M-F lunch buffet 5.99 with free drink. Went in and were charged for soda and was told you only get the 5.99 price if you buy a drink and they are 2.00. So for 2 people it's 15 bucks. The sodas are flat and have a water line hooked into them to water them down. Of course no ice because the water is routed to the soda line. Foods terrible they had nothing on the buffet. 10 trays maybe and half were empty. There is nothing here worth anything. I'd be mad if this meal was free let alone paying for it. I'm just hoping we don't get sick it's that bad.. Do not waste your time. read more

After just moving back to the beach about a year ago, we had tried this place for house rice, egg rolls and run-of-the-mill Chinese. Last night we decided to try the Japanese options on the menu. Huge mistake! Paid $10 each plate for steak and chicken Hibachi. The rice was good but that was it. The "steak" was just weird. I could not put my finger on it but I ended up spitting out each piece I tried thinking it was the fatty part of a piece of steak. The whole thing was that way so I just stopped eating it. (Neither of us could eat it.) The texture of the chicken seemed normal but the entire dish was swimming in this brown sweet liquid that seemed like it was watered down teriyaki sauce or something? I have never experienced Hibachi like that and never want to again. I gave 2 stars since the Chinese I have had there was okay but now I am second-guessing the restaurant and will try to find another Chinese place to frequent. read more

We ordered the family for three. They were small portions. The food was not served at the same time and we had a small child with us. We asked for an extra Styrofoam plate to give the kiddo some food on while we were waiting. They charged 50 cents a plate. We had fountain drinks and once we filled the cup they shut off the machine so we couldn't get a refill. We had to ask every time for them to turn on the machine to refill our drinks. They also had a child who was very cute and nice serving food, but he served our drinks with his hands over the lip of the cup, touching your drink and the food was served the same way. We live in AB and for the money and service, I would recommend another spot in town. read more
