We came here last night to have dinner since it was walking distance from our hotel. We sat outside on the patio and our server was nice and attentive. I got the chicken wrap that came with chips and salsa. Everything was pretty bland. Salsa had no flavor and the chicken states it's grilled but it was shredded chicken instead. The other people in my party said their food was bland and did not have seasoning on there seafood. It's a disappointment as seafood restaurant with the price points they charge. read more

Second time eating here for lunch. Both times have absolutely loved the shrimp burger and fries. These shrimp are fried with a light batter and are so crispy and good. Coleslaw is sweet and I like that it is served on the side versus dumped on top of the sandwich. Comes with cocktail and tartar sauce both which are very good. Fries are also great. Husband had the mahi tacos and had it prepared blackened. Came with a mango salsa, regular salsa, and sour cream along with beans and rice. He devoured them! Finz had the best piece of flounder I've ever had!!! The only complaint is with the hot crap dip. They plated the dip and arranged with bread pieces, and popped it in the oven for a few minutes to toast the bread. Hey, hey this was better than expected based on other reviews! They have a great seating deck with a view of the water. Service was a little slow, but our waitress was kind. I always thought this place was a bar, but was surprised to see they have a pretty extensive menu. Lots of seafood options. The bar area is actually pretty small and closes at 8! I think the live music outside with people drinking mislead me. We had the shrimp and grits, which I would totally order again! I've had shrimp and grits a million ways and this was more of MY preferred style. More breakfast style grits with bacon and butter, added peppers and onion, tail off shrimp (I hate tail on if it's a dish I want to be stirred together) covered in a cheesy savory sauce ! I'm not convinced the grits weren't instant, but I was honestly very happy with it. We also had the fried shrimp basket which was not bad. However, for the same price we'd rather get it at another local place that we prefer. Slaw is slightly sweet and tarter sauce is homemade, but not my favorite slightly sweet also. Great low key eatery right on the Beaufort waterfront. Staff were attentive & kind especially considering the fact that we had a less than well behaved little human with our party of 7. The food was absolutely amazing. We went for dinner around 5:30 on a Thursday. No wait for our party of 5. We sat outside which was perfect for the kids to sit and watch the boats come in. Shrimp and grits were good but missing the spice. The pina colada was amazing. The coco loco wasn't strong at all but the description made it sound like it would be. This was a nice restaurant with inside and covered waterfront seating. I sat on the water and enjoyed the views of the boats. I didn't get the name of my waitress but she was friendly and on her game. We got refills in to go cups without even asking. We were also allowed to order from the children's menu as we were not that hungry and just needed a little something. I was happy I could get a grilled cheese. Lovely ambiance on the water. Food was good as was the service . I loved that it was a converted gas station. It was charming.

I had crab cake and fried oyster combo. Wife had fried oyster sandwich. Mine included a dozen oysters. She believes hers had a dozen too (or close to it) . The fried oysters were probably best I ever had. They said they get fresh de-shelled oysters each morning . They bread them , and then fry when ordered. Excellent, juicy, tasty Son had chicken fingers (size more like palms- big). Daughter had chicken teriyaki rice bowl. Enormous of course, she liked it. Host sat us inside because of upcoming rain storm- luckily. Rain came down sideways, and west side of town including this restaurant lost all power. Super disappointed in the service. We have eaten here several times and brought our out of town guests, as we have enjoyed it in the past. Arrived at 7:10 was told it would be a 30 min wait, went to check on wait time as I saw a party of 9 walked in and was seated right away. When I questioned our wait time the hostess told me they were backed up and closed at 8 and basically turned us away after waiting for 40 min with 6 children. Had a 30 min wait to get outside seating. Deck seating has shade cover but a nice view of carrot island. The deck upstairs is the bar. First walking in to the restaurant / bar it smelled heavy of alcohol. But just walking through to the deck. The deck was really nice. Bathrooms were clean as well. Saw the wild horses there today! Lots of boats out and about today too. They have chocolate mint in a plater out front as well as bananas. Nice tropical waiting area. Has seats and tables. Once seated on the deck, the table was cleaned and had menus waiting. We got the black bean nachos. Mhi tuna tacos and a bacon cheeseburger. Food came out fast and was hot. On the burger condiments came on the side in packets. Everything was cooked wonderfully. Waitress suggested tuna tacos and it was good! They had computer problems with a new computer system they just changed to,but it wasn't a big deal. Waitress was attentive and nice. Very easy to talk to and understand. Well, this places employees need some serious training. Walking up there was at least 5 people standing out front smoking. The hostess was sitting at a table on her phone when we walked in and sat us. The place was definitely not busy - But we never were greeted by our waitress - So we just left after 20 minutes. Wanted to get drinks and appetizers so decided to try this place. Great waterfront location. Awesome view. Waitress was quick and helpful. Great price on Prosecco $5 a glass! Ordered the firecracker shrimp which was spicy but yummy. The tuna tacos were on the entree menu but got them and shared them. Great cuts of seared rare tuna in each taco. Came with more sides than I thought it would, rice and beans which were good, corn and mango salsa, pick de Gallo, sour cream , cheese and lettuce. After sitting at our outside table for 25+ mins without anyone greeting us or taking our drink order, we notice 2 other tables seated around us that were greeted quickly. We flagged down a waitress and she replied that she would "check on our server." When she came back she informed us that our "server was new" and what did we want to drink. At this point, I could here the attitude in her voice and we certainly didn't want them to spit in our food. We decided to leave. On the way out, I ask for a manager and he claimed he was the manager. I proceeded to tell him our experience at his restaurant. Then, out of the blue, comes the waitress chastising me saying I was 'rude' and they have a 'sign' (taking about their lack of help) and I should learn to read. Seriously?!? Finz is a wonderful option in Beaufort, NC! Finz has a variety of seafood and non-seafood. We got the shrimp burger (with a generous portion of shrimp), French fries, and delicious cole slaw! While the burger was good, the salad stole the show! The variety of fresh vegetables surprised me and the blackened shrimp was delicious. After walking inside we were completely ignored while staff walked right past us; finally the manager (?) or owner (?) dude came over. We asked for a table outside and he firmly and definitively says "I don't have anything outside" even though there was just one group outside and at least 10 empty tables out there. So we reluctantly sat inside and ordered. [BTW our server Tabitha was great, she gets 5 stars]. But as we're eating, about five parties (of all sizes) arrived and EVERY ONE OF THEM got seated outside. For these lucky guests, the manager dude was super accommodating. "Sure!" "Yup no problem!" as he led all of them out to nice waterfront tables. WTF? We felt completely dissed -- and that manager dude also seemed to be kind of an asshole to the servers too. I feel sorry for them having to work for him. Although the food was decent (especially the chowder) I will not return on principle. If you can't treat your customers AND your staff well, I'm not interested in giving you my money. Finz was not our 1st choice (that restaurant was closed on Sundays) or our 2nd choice (that restaurant required reservations) for dinner. Our meal here was good but certainly not great. My biggest disappointment was that they were out of Flounder...the one thing on the menu that really interested me. : ( That said, my wife liked her crab cake sandwich. My oldest daughter enjoyed her rice bowl w/shrimp. My youngest daughter loved her shrimp "burger". My son didn't really like his hamburger and I ended up settling for a chicken wrap (I've had better). Finz is cheaper than most of the other restaurants in the area but it's still not worth the cost. read more

With restaurants finally opening up here in NC we made the 41-mile drive to Beaufort for lunch at Moonrakers, one of our favorite coastal restaurants. Unfortunately, it was closed for the day so we decided to re-visit Finz next door. We had eaten there years ago and remembered it as being pretty good. We both ordered crab cake sandwiches, their house Sauvignon Blac and I had a cup of New England Clam chowder. At $7 a glass the wine "pour," seemed short and wasn't very good. My clam chowder could have been out of a can but the biggest disappointment was that we both pushed our crab cakes aside after 1 bite. They looked like old burnt potato pancakes about 1/2" thick and 3" across. What little crab there was in them was all backfin and very stringy. Our waiter took them back and being hungry, I ordered a cheeseburger which was just okay. To be fair, they took the crabcakes off the bill but Finz is permanently off our list of restaurants. read more

Great water front restaurant in Beaufort. We enjoy their hot crab dip and clam chowder. The crab dip was a nice portion, and it was very tasty with the baguette that it came with. The clam chowder had a great flavor, but unfortunately the serving was very small, and the soup was lukewarm. We will return again when the weather is nice because we enjoy sitting outside enjoying the water front view. read more
