Unfortunately I had a bad experience with the company, not the driver. I was released from the Kaiser Moanalua Hospital and they called The Cab for me. I waited for about 2 hours and they still had not come. Finally, I asked the guard at the entrance door if there was a phone available. He used his own phone to call The Cab. They may night be a horse drawn carriage nor a fancy shmancy limo, but the cab gets you to destination A or B safely, when going out for a night on the town with the gals and a large group. It feels nice being worry free about finding parking, paying for parking, and having the very pleasure of a DD. Sometimes the drivers are nice and friendly too and even talkative that makes it fun too. The price is okay, when sharing the ride with friends it's really cheap. I probably wouldn't choose the cab on a regular basis, I do like to use it in states of emergencies or when we decide to go out and don't feel like driving. A good thing to do when using the cab is telling them the fastest way to get to your destination, if you know it, so they won't try to prolong your ride to make your bill higher. The customer service people who answer the calls are nice too. I'll always use the cab when needed, hopefully they drive more carefully though. I don't know why I kept taking my business to these people. I've had several mishaps with them. Today I was dealing with a customer service lady by the name Lia. She was very rude and literallyhang up on me. My parents called for a cab and after two hours(2hrs) no cab had shown up. I felt really bad to hear my elderly parents had waited for a cab for 2hrs. With these guys lying to them " oh just wait a little bit "they asked me to call on their behalf and check why they kept telling them they were coming but no show. So I called and talked to Lia who said oh we will send a van. After 42 minutes there was still no cab. So i called her again and this time the tone was different. She just outrightly interrupted me and asked if i wanted to cancel and before i could answer she hang up. I was shocked and called her back to ask why she was being rude but believe it or not, the lady hang up on me again. Now i was pissed. So i called and asked for her name. Which she yelled " its Lia. I wanted to pre order a ride to the airport and callled. The lady who took the reservation was rude, told me I did not need to pre book, and would not even tell me how to get the cab back upon our return! I was quoted $25 to the airport as a Kamaina ....we were picked up from our home in Aiea (obviously we are local residents) and when we got to the airport we were charged $50+. I told the driver we had booked the local rate and he said he was not aware of that and we had to pay the normal fare!!! He may have pocketed the extra, not sure! I had asked when I booked if I could prepay and was told I could not. That would have made it so much easier and honest. I've always been wanting to do a review about The Cab. I've never been a customer, but their drivers are really the worst drivers. You see them on the freeway, driving recklessly and they don't use their blinkers. I finally have the reason to post a review. I was at Ala Moana Shopping Center. We were at the parking area right outside of Coffee Bean, old food court side. We stopped at the stop signs and waited for pedestrians to cross. When it was all clear, there was a The Cab driver that didn't stop and almost hit us head on. I was yelling at him, and he was just looking at us, SMILING. The kind of smile that'll annoy you. The driver didn't reverse to let us pass him (we were at that 4 intersection part at the ground level parking lot, and we were supposed to turn to the left to go to the second level parking lot when we'd encounter this driver). If I remembered correctly, his plate number was SWG 274, and this incident happened between the times 3:10pm to 3:20pm. He didn't move the car to let us go he was just sitting in his car smiling at us. As soon as we found parking, I went online and called The Cab's phone number, which is the locally well-known number, but since it was a weekend, customer service was unavailable. The person on the phone said to call them back on a weekday, which was reasonable. This service company has won 1st place for taxi/shuttle service, yet they hire reckless drivers. Looking at people's reviews on here, Google, and other review websites, it is proven that the service is awful. After about 35 minutes of radio silence, we called back only to be told that there was "never anyone assigned to us." Very best cab company in Honolulu. You can schedule a ride for any time of the day almost even for early AM ride . Never was late to a scheduled ride to the airport. Taxi drivers come even if it's short trip unlike some taxi drivers don't want to pickup customer for short distance trips in which they don't make much money. Uber/lyft drivers are notorious for that. Beware some dishonest drivers who take you for a ride. They test your knowledge of the road and if you don't know the area they take the long way instead of the quickest way. read more

I have been meaning to write a review about this company for a while now. Since they started their online reservation thing, I thought 'Shit, that's brilliant!' I used it for a while with no complaints. The driver always came on time. Then, It all started with a cab ride to Walmart with me and my cousin at 8 o'clock at night. The cab driver we got was kinda o.0 First off, the cab reeked of cigarette smoke (gross) ... And when we got there and saw I was paying with my card (which btw all you cab drivers ... I do it for MY convenience, not yours!) And this guy started getting pissed, trying to put his credit card machine to plug in :/ ahh, what???!!! Every other word that came out of his mouth was 'Fuck' or 'Shit' ... Or a combination of the two... He kept insisting it wasn't working ... Pffft. I had to send my cousin inside of Walmart to the ATM while I waited in the cab ... This asshole expected a tip ... Seriously??! Yah no. I had another one who asked if I was really paying for the cab ride .... And another called me to tell me he'd be 20 minutes late because he picked up his friend along the way and was dropping him off. One even swiped my card 3 times saying it never went through .. Ah thank gohd for notifications on my card. I get sent texts every time I swipe. This jerk tried to pay himself more then the ride was worth. I called The Cab to get it resolved. I think that was the only great experience I had with them. They refunded my money back since I had to pay the jerk with cash ... Then on another night from Foodland .. Granted its not a very far walk back to my house BUT it had started raining to no avail when we got out of there. Cab driver kept complaining that it wasn't a very long ride .... And AGAIN ... When he saw I was paying with my card ... Oh gohd would he not stop complaining. He kept asking me if I had cash on me, I kept saying no, I don't carry cash. It got to the point that my cousin (again) went into her wallet and gave the cab guy his fare minus tip. And today ... The grand daddy of um all. Today is my birthday, and this morning I had a doctor appointment at 8:30. I was already running late because I slept in :/ So I ordered a cab at 8am .... Cab never came. Called them at 8:20 and this girl answers .... 'Oh I see your reservation. I don't know what happened. I'll send out another one' ... Did I mention my appointment is at 8:30 By 8:32 still nothing. I actually ran all the way from Tantalus to Beretania to catch a bus to Straub. In the rain. I got splashed on, I was soaked and I was pissed. I didn't want to call for another cab company only because I didn't want to wait longer. After today, I am NEVER using this company again. Their customer service people in the call center need more training, and they need more courteous drivers. What's the point of having credit card machines in your cab to make it more convenient for your customers if you don't want to use it???!!! Wow, just wow. So UNPROFESSIONAL! This was the 3rd time I've called them for the "Kamaina Special" of $25 flat rate from Kakaako to the airport. I have said everytime I've called "Hello I would like the Kamaaina special from Kakaako to the airport at xxx time at xxx location." NEVER HAD AN ISSUE until today. I get to the airport and the driver says $29.20, I say I was on the kamaaina special price and he says no I'm not, not on his screen. So I have to call the 422-2222 number, am put on hold transferring to multiple people, total call lasted 4 minutes 53 seconds. I am finally on the phone I am assuming with the original operator who tells me (her exact words) BRAH YOU AINT ON THE KAMAAINA SPECIAL. I tell her that's what I asked for everytime and she proceeds to tell me AH NO ACK I BEEN DOING DIS LONG TIME I KNOW MY JOB AND YOU NEVA SAY NUTTIN ABOUT NO KAMAAINA SPECIAL. I'm like what?!?! First off the first deal is to take care of the customer not give me your fricken attitude. Uber Lyft and the airport scuttle are way more cheaper than your special . I tried to "go local", support us and all that crap but your operators attitude is just plain UNACCEPTABLE!! My mother in law booked The Cab for all of your misc. touristy needs. She hooked up with one driver the whole time. We had them pick us up from the airport. They took us to our sight seeing destinations and back to the airport when leaving. When the whole family was traveling we booked two vans, both were driven by the husband and wife team that took amazing care of us. They totally accommodated my son and his car seat. We even needed to make an emergency stop for snacks and drinks for the little guy because I accidentally forgot his to go bag back at the hotel. Our driver was more than accommodating. It also helped that she was a mom too and completely understood. I highly suggest calling this cab service if you have the money to do so. Disappointing. Not the cheapest cab to take in Honolulu. Driver's are unfamiliar with the Honolulu area (excluding landmarks/malls). My driver did not know how to get to Maryknoll School. He did not make the effort to pull out a map for assistance. Instead, his response was: "tell me which way to go." I should have gotten out then and called Charlie's Taxi. But it was raining and I was in a hurry.... I did not have enough cash on me so I chose to pay by credit card, which is an option for The Cab customers. That would have impressed me, but the driver preferred a payment in cash instead of credit card. He had the audacity to ask me, "how much cash do you have? you don't have enough?" Not knowing how to get to my destination was annoying enough, and deterring me from using my credit card was the icing on the cake. Sometimes they blare the radio, sometimes they don't. Yes, I'm a regular patron. I don't drink and drive, and I'm firm about it. So I use The Cab's services at least twice a month. Good: If I could rate the phone operators, I'd give them a five. Very polite and always addresses me by name. And cab response is always fast for me, since I live in a central location. Bad: Sometimes no A/C! Several times during the afternoon hours, they had their windows down with no A/C. Sorry TUTU (Commercial Celebrity).....No A/C = No Go. I dislike being hot, especially in a car. Another time while heading to a cocktail party, the cab's windows were down and my evening hair and makeup almost turned into a hot mess. Literally. But I told the driver "Can you turn on the A/C please?" and he turned it on for me. WTH? He can't be saving that much gas. Bad: Called a Cab from Ala Moana, got the text to confirm, and another couple walked past us and took our cab!!! An argument started and I asked the driver to confirm the names. He didn't want to and just took that rude couple. We had to wait 20 mins for another cab. I was beyond annoyed and mad. The driver shouldn't have taken the couple; he knew we were the ones who called. What a jerk. (I later ran into the couple and called them "cab stealers." So immature but I was mad at the time. Awful! Awful! Awful! Getting some work done on my car in Waipahu. I called a cab to go to Waikele (right next to Waipahu) to occupy my time while I was waiting. The cab did arrive on time. That's the only thing that went well. He arrived didn't say one word to me or anything. He drove out of the parking lot, passing close enough to a pedestrian on their way into a laundromat for him to yell after us as we passed. We got onto the road and he had the nerve to ask me for directions!!! THE CAB DRIVER NEEDED DIRECTIONS!!! That's like kfc running out of chicken. A friend & I had to catch a cab to The Modern to meet up with our girlfriends for a bachelorette party. Of course, everyone knows that commercial featuring a cross-dressing Frank DeLima & you can't get the jingle out of your head even if you try, so before I knew it, I was calling 422-2222. The guy in his thirties who picked us up was nice enough. But it was blatantly obvious that this guy can't get through a shift without indulging in a little "herbal refreshment" because as soon as we hopped into the cab, we were met with the pungent smell of weed. Early 20s me would've been okay with it, maybe even thought it was kind of cool. Early 30s me has a husband & daughter at home, expecting me to come home safely, so needless to say, I was quite unamused. When we arrived at our destination (SAFELY, thank goodness!) my friend paid him & we waited as he dug through his messy center console that was strewn with dollar bills as though he'd just finished working the pole at Rock-Za or Club 939. Seriously, buddy? Get your sh*t together. Needless to say, I will be looking to other cab companies when in need of a ride after a night of inebriation. Completely horrible experience in Waikiki ! As we were coming back to our hotel, he seemed to hesitate, and go slower than a walk's pace, so we told him to continue on straight. No fucking response at all, just kept going insanely slow (no traffic or pedestrians in the way). When we finally arrived at the hotel, he said something along the lines of "don't tell me how to do my job". SERIOUSLY? You're going to drive turtle fucking slow, not follow my directions and then COMPLAIN ABOUT IT? Not only did the Chinese driver (who didn't appear to speak English) drive ridiculously slow, but he stole tip when providing us change!!!! I never wanted to tip that fucking thief! I gave him $15 and asked for change (fare was $10.05), and he gave me only $2 back!!!! WHAT THE FUCK? I will never use The Cab ever again. In my complete and utter rage, I forgot to take down the driver's name or cab number. Judging by the other reviews on here, I'm not alone in my fucking terrible experience. Today was the worst two experiences I've ever had with TheCab. On Jun. 27 I took the time to schedule two trips on-line (one for 5PM & the other for 9:30PM) for the 4th of July; I even followed up by calling to discuss the two trips and get their advice. The first trip, home to Aloha Tower Marketplace, TheCab arrived on time but 1) the sedan reeked of pipe/cigar smoke, 2) the air conditioner didn't work, 3) one rear window wouldn't close, and 4) TheCab (#61, badge 2101) overheated and had to pull over on the viaduct at the airport halfway to our destination. Needless to say with the temperature near 90° and the window open, we arrived for our three-hour dinner cruise hot, sweaty, and with my wife's hair a mess! TheCab folks advised me to schedule the 9:30PM pickup from the Falls of Clyde to home because of the numerous tour busses at that time of the evening. We arrived at the Falls of Clyde at 9:29PM; at 9:36PM I called TheCab to ask where my cab was and was told it was stuck in traffic. I was told my cab would be number 123. At 9:44PM cab 123 drove past us with another fare inside! At 9:51PM I got a pre-recorded call saying my cab had arrived. I called TheCab back at 9:53PM to ask what had happened and when would I have transportation. All they could do was apologize and make lame excuses; then she said my cab would be here in 12 to 15 minutes. At this point, we tried to flag down any taxi we could but it wasn't until 9:57PM that we were able to get a cab. I have been a TheCab user for many years but I will never use TheCab ever again and I'll make sure all of my friends and acquaintances know of the poor quality of service. read more

Weirdest cab ride ever and one I don't want to recreate. Had the cabbie extolling the virtues of Islam for women and converting to Muslim. He felt that Islam/Muslim was good for women and Played a video about a week and a half old convert who was a "Hollywood model" that used to pose to adult mags, do meth and was blond. Now she's a brunette, stays at home with her son and lives to serve her family and religion. I do not give a good god damn what religion you are, experience or believe. DO NOT BRING THAT INTO YOUR CAB AND MAKE OTHERS LISTEN. Offended because it was religion not because of the type. Religion and politics have no place in a cab. PERIOD. I take cabs all over back home this has never happened to me before. WTF was this cabbie thinking? Really pissed that I had TO PAY for the ride just to get back home safely! Like many, I think the movie theater ad for The Cab is hysterical... So naturally, when I found myself needing a last minute right to the airport to avoid having to pay to park my car their, I thought of the ad, laughed a bit, and started my online order. I decided to order a cab a couple hours in advance using their online service, to ensure I didn't have to wait for whatever reason. My driver arrived about 5 minutes early in a well kept, cool temp, good smelling car... And promptly offered helped me w/ my luggage. We were on the road to the airport in no time! Driver was courteous during the drive, he politely asked a couple brief questions about my trip, and then left me be to play on my phone (I.e. Write my yelp review, hehe!.) Upon arrival at my terminal, the driver opened the door for me, then proceeded to get my luggage out of the trunk while I exited the car/signed card charge. I have used the cab for years. Multiple bad experiences have made me delete their number from my phone. Most recently, I gave a cab driver the address to the hotel that I use to work in because I wanted to go to a restaurant that was there. He took me to a completely different address and insisted that this is where the restaurant was. After arguing with me about where I wanted to be dropped off I handed him my credit card to pay for the meter and he asked if I have cash. I said that I do but I'm paying with my card. He then asked for the cash instead. I told him that I didn't know why he kept trying to make me do things that I didn't want to do. I didn't want to be at this hotel and I don't want to pay with cash. After all of that and I paid with my card he offered to drive me where I wanted to go. We ordered the taxi last night (well in advance, around 6pm and pickup time 10pm) to Turtle Bay resort. I spoke to a gentleman called Mike and he confirmed that the taxi should be at Turtle Bay resort at around 10:30pm but we should call before 10pm just to reconfirm. So far so good. I called them back 9:30pm and the lady confirmed that the cab has been dispatched and should be at the resort around 10:30pm, so we felt very good. We waited at the lobby at 10:30pm and there is no sign of taxi. I called back and the lady told me they are "out of drivers" and that there is no taxi??? I spoke to the shift supervisor and she confirmed this. How can this be? We had ordered the taxi well in advance, confirmed as discussed, and they just don't show up and when we call back they say there are no drivers. So they never even planned to send the taxi, even though they said so. The flat out lied to us. This is terrible service since we really needed a ride home after the christmas day dinner since we had drinks. Luckily the hotel helped us out at the end in the absence of the taxi. This is terrible service. I am never using this again or recommending to anyone. read more

Talking to the dispatcher about where we could meet a cab after an event was like talking to a bowling ball: thick and round. Her: where are you? Me: At the Waikiki Shell, by the restrooms facing Montserrat. Her: We're sending cabs there now. Me: Great. Where should we meet the cab? Are you sending them to a particular location? Her: Where ever you are. Me: So, he'll come get us here? Her: Yes, if he makes it that far before someone else flags him. Me: Is there a specific space I should wait because I am actually CALLING for a cab? Her: No. Me: Do you want our name? Her: No. They'll pick you up when they see you. Me: How long will it be? Her: 10 minutes. Me: How do you know? Anyway, if that was painful to read...imagine HAVING the conversation. No stars for the ray of sunshine that answers the phone. Three stars for the cab driver we finally DID hail who got us back to Hawaii Kai quickly and with a smile. Maybe the dispatchers should work for tips too? read more

The Cab company taxi driver use the F... word, Rude, Blocking the One Way driveway of a high rise building (Pearl Two in Aiea) and did not move his vehicle when asked. The Cab company taxi driver did not move his vehicle after a high bin signal was given, then a horn, I even got out of my car to explain to him that it is a One Way and I can not just back out my car of the building driveway. This mini van taxi with License plate JWS 106, cab number 299, was driven by an Indian taxi driver, who speaks perfect English, was super Rude. I wonder if The Cab company had check if this driver even has a green card or permit to work in America ........... read more
