For The Win - Triple cheeseburger with sweet potato fries

For The Win

For the win--literally!…read more After a few hours of shopping, my daughter, granddaughter, and I decided to grab dinner at For the Win. We were all craving burgers, and nothing hits like a fresh smash burger. I ordered the double cheeseburger with bacon and all the toppings, plus a side of sweet potato fries and a cold brisk tea. Everything was delicious. The restaurant was super clean and had a festive vibe with Christmas music playing, which we loved. The staff were very welcoming, and the customer service was top-notch. We'll definitely be back to this location.

I had a pretty frustrating experience ordering from For The Win today, which completely defeated…read morethe purpose of ordering ahead. I placed an online order through their website, and it quoted about a 25-minute prep time with a ready window around 2:56 -3:06 PM. I planned accordingly and even arrived earlier so I could pick it up fresh and avoid waiting. However, just five minutes after placing the order, I received a text saying it was already ready. That immediately raised a red flag, because if you're paying $13+ for a double burger, you expect it to be made closer to your arrival time, not immediately. When I arrived, the burger was already cold. When I brought this up, the employee I spoke with repeatedly said "it's not my fault" and pointed to someone else, instead of taking any ownership or even acknowledging the issue. It was a really poor way to handle a simple customer concern. Eventually, after some back and forth, the burger was remade, but I had to wait another 10-15 minutes. And ironically, it took longer to make it this time than it did after I placed the online order. But then now I wa stuck waiting defeating the whole purpose of ordering ahead. A manager eventually came over and was polite, but by that point the experience had already been frustrating. They also threw away the original burger instead of offering to let me keep it, which felt wasteful. On top of that, when I asked for a couple cups of water for my daughter, I was told I'd need to purchase a bottle, which felt pretty tone-deaf given the situation and didn't even think to offer me any anything for the misunderstanding and having to wait extra time now... The bigger issue here is the lack of coordination and communication. If you're going to quote customers a pickup time, especially for hot food, the order should be made accordingly--not immediately after it's placed. Otherwise, you're guaranteeing that the food won't be fresh when the customer arrives. Between the timing issue, the lack of ownership from staff, and the overall handling of the situation, this was a disappointing experience. I usually like the food, but the service and process today really need improvement.

Smash N Bite is one of those spots that reminds you why smash burgers have such a cult following,…read moreand honestly, it's becoming one of my go-to burger joints in Sherman Oaks. From the moment you walk in, the place has a laid-back, no-nonsense vibe. It's not trying to be flashy or overdesigned--just clean, casual, and clearly focused on doing one thing really well: burgers. You can smell the beef hitting the griddle almost immediately, which is always a good sign. The burgers themselves are the real star. Thin, crispy-edged patties with that perfect smash sear, juicy in the middle, and packed with flavor. You can tell they're not skimping on quality--the beef tastes rich and well-seasoned, not bland or greasy. The balance is on point: soft toasted buns, melty cheese, fresh toppings, and sauces that actually complement the burger instead of overpowering it. Every bite feels intentional. What I really appreciate is how consistent everything feels. Whether you keep it classic or add extras, the burger holds together beautifully and doesn't turn into a messy disaster halfway through. It's indulgent without feeling sloppy, which is harder to pull off than people think. The sides deserve their own shoutout too. The fries are hot, crispy, and addictive--perfect on their own or dipped into whatever sauce you've got left over. You can tell they're made fresh and not just an afterthought. Portion sizes are solid, so you definitely leave full and satisfied. Service has been great every time I've been. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and patient, even when it gets busy. Orders come out fast, and everything feels well-organized without being rushed. It's the kind of place where you feel comfortable coming back regularly, whether you're grabbing a quick bite or actually sitting down to enjoy your meal. Overall, Smash N Bite hits that sweet spot between comfort food and quality execution. It's straightforward, flavorful, and clearly run by people who care about what they're serving. If you're in Sherman Oaks and craving a legit smash burger done right, this place is 100% worth checking out--and worth coming back to.

Absolutely love this spot! The Stand in NoHo is my go-to for burgers and sandwiches when I want…read moresomething elevated but still comforting. Their Stand Burger is juicy perfection--perfectly cooked patty, fresh toppings, and those signature sauces make it stand out from the usual fast-casual places. Tried the Red Curry Chicken Sandwich recently and it was packed with flavor--spicy, savory, and not too heavy. Portions are generous, and the sides (those fries!) are addictive. What really makes it special though is the service. Shoutout to Justin (the manager)--he's super hands-on, friendly, and genuinely cares about making sure everything's great. He checked in on us during our visit, and you can tell the whole team is on point because of that leadership. The place is clean, the vibe is chill and welcoming, and it's consistently impressive every time I come back (this was my 4th or 5th visit). If you're in the Valley craving a killer burger or sandwich with a premium twist, definitely hit up The Stand NoHo. Worth every penny--highly recommend!"

Like refrigerated cold. Not even room temp as if it was sitting out. Straight cold from the fridge. I took it back and they remade it no problem. Customer service, tho slow and understaffed that day, was great. Still, it's alarming that this cold hot dog made it out of their kitchen and onto a customer's table.

When I inquired as to why this was, the lady at the counter told me "Oh, there's an upcharge for grilling the onions, as well as for the thousand island". Really? There's an upcharge to grill onions? The majority of charbroiled burger establishments in LA do not charge more for that unless onions don't already come on the burger, so to charge people more just for simply grilling them is ridiculous, and just a way for them to charge you more money, and like many of you, I am sick and tired of price gouging. I then asked if I could use the restroom to which I was told "there is no public restroom". Interesting, considering it's a PUBLIC establishment where you are encouraged to dine in. At that point, I almost said "You know what, that's not going to work then because I need to use the restroom quite badly", but by then I had already put in my order, unfortunately. Maybe they simply don't want people to dine in? Like, what burger joint doesn't provide their patrons with a PUBLIC restroom?! It was a first for me, anyway. The burger and fries were decent, but not worth the price once you figure in the upcharges. So, after tonight I don't think I'll be returning, unless they decide to provide their patrons with a restroom, and get rid of the all the ridiculous upcharges.
