I was in the martini bar upstairs a few times and loved everything! Great food, incredible martinis... But the last two times I reserved a table, I got a call a few days later saying they were closing it for various reasons. Never going back. If you can't keep your place open why bother. We are so lucky to have this outstanding restaurant close by. Brian is a fantastic chef-- don't miss the calamari with spinach, hot peppers, green onions and spicy aioli. Entrees are delicious and generous, and the martinis are so fun. The Bridge Inn-tini shouldn't work, but it does, and does so brilliantly! Service and atmosphere is cozy. We had dinner for 8, with a reservation at 7:15 on Sunday evening. Fabulous service, food is delicious. Our party enjoyed the corn soup and French onion, shrimp salad, coconut shrimp, crab cakes filled with large lump meat. Meals were served in a timely manner as to not feel like you are being rushed. The hidden gem in the area!! Can't believe I lived 15 mins away 4.5 years and never tried Bridge Inn until 3 weeks ago (since trying I've literally ate there 3 times ). The food is quality. Absolutely delicious. The lump crab cakes are large and have so much crab. The steak dishes are so flavorful. The flatbreads.... don't get me started. They are the best I've ever had and so many delicious options. Oh, and the martinis. MANY flavors to choose from and absolutely delicious and don't skimp on the alcohol. Make sure you have a DD, lol. Not to forget the service. Both waitresses I've had are experts. They don't use a notepad and have done everything correct and very attentive without being over shadowing. Formerly the Pleasantville Inn past the town of Oley (10 miles outside Reading), the Bridge Inn is a place of many different personalities. There is a fancier dining room in the back with pretty pumpkin-colored walls, casual dining and a locals bar in the front (shuffleboard!), and a martini lounge upstairs. They have added a nice outdoor area with a fountain. You can sit in the front windows and see farmers driving tractors by on the street, going from one field to another. The menu is large, and the chef has been creating 2 vegetarian specials weekly, many of which are or can be made vegan. You would not expect to find such a thing out in the woods, so they are ahead of most area restaurants by simply offering two well-though-out plant-based dishes that are not grilled vegetables or pasta or hummus. We tried the Mediterranean Lentil Salad, which was massive, served in a whole wheat tortilla bowl, and surrounded by baby arugula and fruit ($15). It was enough for two. There is a veggie burger on the regular menu. The waiter gave us olive oil (and balsamic vinegar) for our rolls, which was very nice. Yeah, vinegar, but it worked. Get in on their Fb, because they post the weekend specials on Wednesday so you can plan. They seem to be going more toward vegan choices with their vegetarian specials, which is very cool. I'd love if the default was vegan and you could add meat or cheese (for a price). I'd also love if the chef would work in more nuts and vegan cheese. As we left, we heard the table beside us asking about the vegetarian food too. I hope people are supporting their creativity. Several years ago, I had an artichoke pie here which was amazing! They pay attention to new liquors and come up with very creative drinks. These are called martinis but are to me sweet cocktails, tasty, but not a real martini, which is strong and lasts a long time in the glass. My Tanqueray and crushed fresh grapefruit ($10) went down way too fast, but I commend them for using fresh juices. They need to pay attention to the wine list however. read more

Even though the place wasn't busy and we were the only ones outside the service was great. Appetizers and entrees were good. If you judge a place on the quantity of food you won't be disappointed. 2 of us took leftovers home. Restrooms were clean. Outdoor seating area was clean. Beer selection was to my liking. I recently moved to Berks County from MetroPhilly. I had heard that The Bridge Inn was a unique eclectic establishment and after visiting I can't agree more. My dining and entertainment experience has so far been limited to the upstairs Martini Bar, restaurant and lounge area. The atmosphere is beyond compare for this area and akin to a hip Center City Philly or Manhattan lounge but without any pretense which makes it really a perfect mix. I have enjoyed numerous dinners with parties of usually four to six people and without exception, the food and service have been excellent. In addition to the dining experience, the Inn regularly host live music acts in the lounge where you can relax on comfortable overstuffed furniture and unwind. The place exudes a very cool vibe which is enhanced by a very complimentary staff who will visit you during the music performances and refresh your libation. They also have martini/drink menus that are backlit (e.g. looks like an i-pad) which is both practical and artistic. In summation, if you are looking for excellent food and beverages in a cosmopolitan and serene environment, check out the Martini Bar and Restaurant w/ in the Bridge Inn. Great food, excellent service and oh yeah, it's reasonably priced. One tip, it does fill up fast on weekends, so make sure you specify both dinner and lounge reservations. So I have to put this out there how upset we are about the management last night at dinner. We have gone there and sat at the bar and had good service and good bar food, but haven't sat and had dinner there in years because their service was so horrible. We decided to try it again last night for my birthday dinner and again it was disappointing. The food was fantastic and the drinks were amazing. The waitress was very good, but that manager/owner still has not changed . First of all when I called to make a reservation I don't think you should be telling me that there is an hour and a half limit and asked me if we can be done in that time frame? (they only serve dinner 4 to 8 PM ) And we get greeted at the door by him with no smile no welcome no nothing just shows us to our table and gives us menus. While during our meal( and I know it is an old building, but) a bat starts flying around our head and another table for quite a few minutes with nobody there doing anything to help. ( and believe me, we were making a noise and waving our hands to avoid the bat ) Finally, the bat finds a place behind the curtain and stays there. The manager comes over and says well sometimes they do get in from the chimney will just leave him there. I don't think he's going to be going anywhere and walks away without an apology or anything. A few minutes later, the bat decides to start flying around and swatting at our heads to the point where we can't even sit on our seats anymore. Jimmy and Anthony then get up. Anthony takes his flannel jacket off and traps the bat in it and take it outside to let it go. As they walk back in the manager is standing right, there does not say a word no please no thank you I'm so sorry walks right past them and continues on his business. A lady from another table says wow you think somebody would say thank you or do something he looked at her and just turned his head. I am sorry, but I feel that we should have gotten some sort of apology or something or at least come over to our table and said thank you but nothing from him what so ever. read more

The Bridge Inn is quite outdated. The decor consists of tables covered with thick plastic table cloths and paper placemats. The menu was very large. And surprisingly expensive for the ambiance. The sandwiches and burgers were reasonably priced however. I ordered a Rachel. (Reuben but with turkey). It was huge-- basically two normal sized open face sandwiches. The flavor was pretty good, but the bread was very soft and soggy. I'm not completely convinced that it was even toasted. While I was not impressed with the food or the ambiance, their beer menu looked quite good. I probably won't be going back for the food, but I might return for drinks only. read more

My girl friend and I went to this restaurant last night and were very disappointed with the service. We were seated immediately but, it took 10 minutes to be acknowledged by our waitress. When the waitress finally came to our table, she abruptly asked if we wanted another drink. After 10 minutes, we had reviewed the menu and were ready to order. There was no acknowledgement of our wait and no apology for the lack of attention. I ordered a medium rare steak and my girl friend ordered seared scallops. 5 minutes before our meal, the waitress delivered our basket of rolls. This means we sat there for 45 minutes with no appetizer. After 50 minutes, our waitress delivered our food. My girl friend's scallops were rubbery, not seared, steaming piping hot indicating they were microwaved. When asked why it took so long, our waitress stated that my medium rare steak was burned and had to be refired. How do you burn a medium rare steak? It's on the grill for 5 minutes. Without taking a second bite, we asked to see the manager. At first, the owner's sister came over to ask us what was wrong. As we explained our long wait and disappointment, she stated they have an outside seating area they need to take of as well-excuse. Not wanting to hear the excuse, I stated you have an inside that you need to take care of as well. She then stated they had a table of 10-excuse. Not excepting the second excuse, I stated the group of 10 was finishing up when we first sat down. I asked if they were under staffed and the reply was, no. After, the owner, Brian, came over and leaned on the back of the booth, looked at us like we were an annoyance and said, "what's up"? He was immediately rude and argumentative. When I told him it took 50 mins. to get our food, he said it took 35 mins.-argumentative. He stated that we were lying about our long food wait and continued to make excuses for the wait saying it was busy, even though there were only a few filled tables, most of which were finishing up. Due to his attitude, we stated that we had lost our appetite. He got even further upset, and sarcastically stated to have a nice day and snatched our plates away. As we walked passed the bar, I wanted to get the name of the guy who was rude to us. I asked the bar tender who that guy was. She told me it was Brian, the owner. At this point, the waitress told me I had to pay for the one glass of wine I had. I told her I would but, the bar tender insisted she would take care of it. She apologized for the way we were treated. She was the only saving grace of last evening. We immediately left, disappointed. I have been coming for years to the Bridge Inn and loved it in the past. It's definitely upsetting to see a favorite place go downhill. read more

I got takeout for the first time today and really liked it. Grilled chicken breast and roast turkey were very good with moist texture and generally done perfectly. I really liked the grilled chicken breast and the sauteed mushrooms. They could use more sides like broccoli and other green vegetables, though. Extensive menu. I can't really rate the service as it was a takeout order, but the website I used to place the order was really convenient. Everything was ready on time and packed sensibly. I stop in on occasion. Since it is usually a party of two, I don't bother making reservations. If you have a party of 4+ on a weekend, I would call ahead. A couple of times it was just "OK", but usually it has been quite good, including the drinks. The filet I ordered recently was better prepared than some I've eaten in restaurants anywhere, including those in NYC, Philly, Chicago, etc... They are not perfect but seem responsive to feedback from "the house". During dinner, on weekends, they always seem to need more staff, but the staff they have is usually attentive and are hustling, not just sitting at the bar. (I actually try to stay away from country inns on weekend evenings, since they are usually packed). When I mentioned that I had yet to review it on Yelp or Google, the manager told me that there were already many filtered reviews and the remaining two unfiltered ones were negative. read more

I'm upgrading my review of the Bridge Inn from three stars to four. The new owners have made some improvements. No major changes, but just enough, and in the right places. For starters, the lottery machine is gone, with all the flashing lights. (See my last review if you don't know what I'm talking about.) Secondly, they cleaned up the place, including some of the cobwebs and dust in the corners of the ceiling. Nice. The food is good, but not really gourmet. The wine list still needs a lot of work. And I still haven't actually tried the Martini Lounge on the second floor. One of these days I will! read more

My husband and I used to eat at a restaurant up the road and one Sunday we arrived and it was closed so we drove down the street to the Bridge Inn. The Bridge Inn has incredible food. We've NEVER gone back to that other restaurant. Virginville Hotel used to be our favorite place to eat ...that has closed... The Bridge Inn has become our new BEST PLACE TO EAT. The Bridge Inn is a great place to go for Martinis & the Martini Lounge has such a great atmosphere to go there with a group and really enjoy yourself. Love the set up which is condusive to conversation.Decorations are changed up for the different seasons & always so neatly decorated. One of the coolest things is the light up menus. It is always hard to see menus in most restaurants. They always have featured & different martinis every week along with a list of others and the appetizers are great from the Ahi tuna to the shrimp. Love the flat bread pizza. Dinners there are also very enjoyable. We have not had anything there that we did not like. It is one of our favorite places to go. read more

We visited on a Sunday at 7pm. There were 3 other parties in the area, a few more at the bar. The menu has a pretty broad range of pricing; from sandwiches under $8 to meals over $22. I had the Reuben, my husband had a specialty burger. Both were very nice size portions. My Reuben was excellent. The chips with it were crispy but not fresh made. We shared a bowl of the crab corn soup which was killer. The food came out pretty slow, but the service people were pretty attentive in the meantime. Everyone happy with their meals including 1 very picky vegan and one person who swears no one knows what a med. rare steak looks like. The only food complaint was the onion rings, they were over cooked and non-palatable. Desert was also yummy, 4 of us shared a raspberry cheesecake. My biggest complaint is that they have seating and a martini bar with entertainment on the 2nd floor eith no bathroom on that floor which is VERY inconvenient. So disappointing !!! Service was extremely slow: starting with a 15 minute wait to be seated (note that there was NO ONE in front of us); another 20 minute wait for someone to take our drink order. 20+ more minutes for the drinks to arrive and to place our appetizer orders. 40+ minutes later the appetizers arrive with the salads. Patty's calamri is OK, but my ahi is overdone. Then we wait for our entres, and wait, and wait, and wait.... 45+ minutes later (as we're on the verge of walking out) the entres arrive. Mine isn't really a crab cake, just crab meat over the pastry. Patty's veal isn't breaded properly, to the point where the coating is sticking to the plate. On the plus side - they didn't charge me for my wine or Patty's entre. read more

This review is for the martini bar - upstairs... NOT downstairs as I have never eaten there... The hubby and I love the Bridge Inn. We have eaten here a handful of times and have always been extremely happy with our meals (and martinis). Our first trip was to see a friend's art show that was being hosted there. We enjoyed it so much that we have been back for "date night" quite a few times and even brought the in-laws once. One thing we enjoy is the diversity and creativity found on both the food and martini menus. Usually when we go to The Bridge, we head there for a quiet, relaxing dinner followed by live music on a Saturday night. We have discovered some wonderful local talent (Rod DeGeorge is amazing) in the lounge. The staff is wonderful! Always friendly and accommodating. My only complaint about the Bridge's Martini Bar would be that the dining room is tiny. Usually this is not an issue, it lends itself to the romantic, cozy, relaxing, intimate feel of the place. All of this ambiance can be ruined by a loud customer. Last time we were there, a woman came in soon after us and was so loud that she could be heard throughout the dining room. Had her conversation been pleasant, this would no have been a big deal. However, her topic of conversation was depressing and made me feel stressed (which one could not help but hear - really, she was loud - remember Roseanne Barr?). As if that was not bad enough, the conversation shifted to her case of MRSA!!! Here is where that accommodating staff helped me out. I asked to be moved to the nice, quiet table in the bar and lobby area... Tim and PJ (I hope I got their names correct) helped us move or food and drinks to this nice, secluded (and quiet) spot. Because the staff was so great (and sympathetic) about moving us, I am not going to knock off any stars... We truly do love it here and will continue to return and recommend it to others. read more

My wife and I stopped for dinner on 10/12/2019 at 4:30. We were escorted to our table and then, we sat there for 15+ minutes without a waiter or waitress stopping by to welcome us, give us a menu or ask if we would like to place a drink order. 3 waitresses walked by us and none offered us service. The first time I was here, I was brought to The Bridge Inn by friends. I was amazed when I walked up the stairs to the martini lounge!! Totally not was I was expecting. The lounge is perfect for an intimate group to relax or enjoy some cocktails and music. The ambiance is something one would would expect from a swanky New York lounge, but without the pretentious hipsters. The drink menu is unbelievable and the presentation is unique, as the menu is a light up one. I have been there many times since that first time and the quality is consistently high every single visit. My favorites include the Persian Cat (vanilla vodka & pear), Coconut Cream Pie (coconut rum, cream & fresh coconut), and my all time favorite, The Ritz (vodka & elderflower liqueur with muddled grapes, yummmmm!!!). The food is delicious, as well. The flat breads are all fantastic, affordable, and help absorb some of the alcohol, so you can sample more of the amazing drinks! ;) Servers are always timely and attentive. Javier is a favorite and Samantha is just the cutest, friendliest thing on earth. I would highly recommend checking this place out. You won't be disappointed! read more

Husband and I were doing a bike ride in the area and this place was one of the lone establishments we came across in our 50 mile route. Our expectations weren't high - but man they were blown away once we got there! We thought it was just going to be a quick carry out type place, but the owner ended up opening the outside garden for us - so cute, with a fountain and music playing, it was a welcome haven. We got simple food, but the owner showed us the full menu, and they had a selection to rival most NYC restaurants. He even came out to give us a little sampling of Parmesan truffle fries - Ah. Maz. Ing. Next time we are biking in the area this will definitely be our go to. read more
