Clam chowder
Mike F.

Looking past the outdated, stale décor, Frank & Diannah's Arbor Inn serves up a memorable dining experience, playing to their strengths while spurning short-sighted modern day trends and instead focusing on comfort food that warms the soul. The interior is basically your grandma's house reincarnated. Carpeted floor, heavy drapes, wood-paneled walls, tiny lamps in every window. I suppose the design was on purpose to elicit warm memories buried deep within our subconsciousness? Hey, if we're reminded of grandma, we're gonna be happy and tip more! Not a bad strategy, to be honest. When it comes to the food and service, it was top notch. Yeah, one of the steaks we ordered was slightly overdone (asked for medium rare, came out medium well), but management addressed the situation admirably and offered free desert to quell our dissatisfaction. The other steak aside, my ribeye was cooked to perfection. So tender, so juicy, so full of flavor. It truly made me fall in love with the ribeye all over again and confirmed my belief that the ribeye is truly the king of steaks, trouncing both the lean, buttery filet and heavily marbled prime rib. If you're feeling in the mood for shellfish, but your craving has gone beyond the normal standard and you are now "selfish for shellfish," F&D's will still be able to satisfy your need. In addition to coconut curry mussels and fried calamari, they also serve up steamed clams with chorizo, a magnificent marriage of littlenecks, chorizo sausage, diced tomato, and shallots in a white wine, garlic and herb broth. And as always, with dishes like these, be sure to dip the bread in that leftover broth! Heaven. Oh, and those were just some of the appetizers. If you really want to go all out with the shellfish, try the Linguine Pescatore, where you get an assortment of shellfish served in a flavorful white or red wine sauce over a bed of soft, housemade pasta. Mussels, clams, and as an added bonus - scallops! Just an absolute delight. For the born-and-raised Berks-Countians (aka PA Dutch folk), there is an assortment of schnitzel dishes (no less than four the last time I checked). Anyone with a sliver of German ancestry, rejoice! Your childhood fav is on the menu. After my first and only visit, I immediately fell in love with this place. Great experience all around. To top it off, my old friend was working at the bar. I hadn't seen him in years before this. It was great to catch up. A special occasion brought me here. It turned into more special occasions and great memories. One trip was all it took. Now Frank and Diannah's will always have a special place in my heart.

Epic delicious food every time!

Always a pleasure, always a charming experience. The owners are fantastic, the staff is fantastic, love the ambiance, and the passion that gets put into every meal they prepare. No mediocrity, as an amateur chef myself going out to dinner usually isn't very exciting to me, I'm a pretty good cook, the food here is always amazing, exciting, and flavorful. Highly recommend.

Food and service were great! Our waitress Katelyn was attentive and on point with the food and drinks. Both the main dishes my wife and I ordered was delicious. Will be back again.

Outstanding experience. (Hope this review makes up for minor squabbles about Gracie's, which I too…read morelove!) Located a bit out of the way in the Flying Hills golf course, but worth the drive. Sports bar- Eagles vibe w/ a decent draft list. The kegs weren't working (seems to happen at every bar we attend these days) but still enjoyed a Mike & Merrill Philly Hazy IPA. Wings a good size, crisp, you know, the way wings used to be before everyone started charging an arm & a leg & serving broken pigeon wings. Classic "Buffalo" sauce & blue cheese dressing were good. FINALLY tried famous Caramel Burger (which I missed several times at the Hamburger festival). It did not disappoint. Good size, flavorful patty, & what these people do best- the bacon jam & caramelized bacon. The sweetness of the onions sings thru. Order it! Husband ordered seasonal special Frikadellen/Bratwurst Smash Burger. Skipping right to it- the cottage fries. (Gracie's/Louie's if you had this all the time we'd have no beef! LOL) INCREDIBLE! Crisp, thin, tender, amazing. If you follow me you know I am over the frozen fries served at every eatery in this country. Finally, amazingly pleasant, genuinely happy, server- Reese. She was on my side throughout this whole foodie journey, even the beer & burger mishap (initially burger served w/o cheese sauce). She's a keeper! We'll be back & will spread the word! Till then, stay on your toes! Thank you Louie's for a great meal.

The drinks are served up strong and service by our server tonight, Grace, was very attentive. Every time we come here we order the crispy potstickers appetizer and we agreed that their fried pickles are the best we've had anywhere. The dill dipping sauce that comes with the fried pickles is the bomb. My husband loves burgers and it's not always easy to find places that actually serve great burgers, but tonight he said "this is delicious!" Our server, Grace, was friendly, helpful and paid attention to the right time when to offer another drink or see if we want anything else. The music playing is a mix of genres so there's something for everyone and we enjoy it. They play it at the perfect volume. Loud enough to hear it well but not so loud that we can't hear each other talk. And, the outdoor patio seating is dog friendly! Reading some of the other reviews, I am baffled that people are leaving three and four stars when they have nothing but raving positive things to say (awesome, fantastic, etc) about the food, drinks, ambiance and service. That makes a place worthy of a five star review. Do yourself a favor and visit the Liberty Taproom!

They card everyone at the table if you get an alcoholic beverage. The service was great. I lucked out with my server. I was in a time crunch and she was very accommodating of that. If you're looking for a bright and airy place to grab a bite, this spot really delivers on the atmosphere. The dining area is clean and filled with natural light thanks to the windows on two sides, which makes for a very welcoming environment. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our visit, contributing to a pleasant service experience. One of the absolute highlights was the salad bar--it was fresh, well-presented, and offered an excellent selection, including classics like macaroni and potato salads, pickled red beet eggs, and even stuffed grape leaves. It's clear they take pride in that part of the menu! (A +) While we did encounter a few hiccups with the hot entrees--my wife's hot turkey sandwich and mashed potatoes arrived cold, and my broiled salmon was unfortunately quite overdone--I get the sense that this kitchen has a lot more to offer. The menu is quite extensive, and I suspect they really shine when it comes to their more traditional diner fare. (C) It's worth noting that the pricing is very competitive, feeling even more affordable than many other local diner-style establishments we've visited lately. While the decor feels a bit dated and the atmosphere skews toward a more mature crowd, the restaurant has a great foundation. (B + to A) I'd definitely encourage folks to give them a try. They have a solid operation here, and with more focus and care in the kitchen, I think they'll continue to be a staple in the area for a long time to come. I plan to head back eventually to see if the kitchen improves and how the other menu items hold up!

I had a three-cheese Omelet with Potatoes and toast, and they were cooked well and very well. They have a full menu with a large variety and selection. I found many items on the menu I would like to try out if we are back in the area again.
