Veal alla Anthony
Matt G.

Hidden authentic Italian restaurant in the Antietam area. The staff are nice and the decorations give the restaurant a fun look. I ordered one of the special drinks, the Cynar Negroni, and it was an earthy twist on the classic Negroni. They give you enough cocktail for 2 drinks, so the value on the drinks is great. For food, we ordered the fried calamari. It was breaded how I prefer and enjoyable. My entree, Veal alla Anthony, was pretty average. There wasn't a ton of flavor, and it was drowned in a cream sauce. For the price, I expected better quality, but I'll return to give it another try. I enjoyed my time at Anthony's Trattoria.

Side salad and garlic bread

Anthony's Trattoria is an authentic Italian restaurant, a hidden gem in a suburban Antietam area neighborhood. Private party for an Italian family birthday, group of 32, from Noon-4PM on a Saturday. The ambiance, staff and food were all fabulous, and they did an amazing job of dealing with us. (Big smile!) We had originally thought we'd do a buffet when we started planning several months ago, but I guess Covid rules changed that plan. We had selected 5 items for the buffet, then those items were actually transformed to a mini-menu, for each guest to select and be served a plated meal. Personal touch: each guest had their own copy of said mini-menu at their place setting. It was a fantastic change in plan! Service from when we walked in was top notch, the gentleman server was so quick in taking and delivering drinks to guests as we milled about and socialized while waiting for our whole party. I can ALWAYS tell if an Italian place will be decent by the salad and bread, which were served here as accompaniments with all selections (except the entree salad). Salad was perfectly dressed (glistening but not drowning) in a house vinaigrette, and chopped salami, cheese, etc. Toasted garlic bread per person was a substantial size, and exactly the right level of toastiness. All entrees were just delicious! Service throughout the party was stellar, even while the main dining room was also quite busy. Thank you Anthony's, for a truly memorable and wonderful group event!

The best salad in the world....

Delicious, REAL Italian food and pasta. Cute decor and friendly service. Had the shrimp fettuccini Alfredo, bruschetta and Caesar salads.

Very admirable and apparently they do this often to support other causes, as well. We were happy to dine at a restaurant that cares about the local community. That's what got me (& my wife) in the door. Now, for the brass tacks: Atmosphere: Very nice looking place. Clean. Lively. Loved the front window open on a warm day and the outdoor seating as we walked in. Service: Hostess and Server were both very friendly, attentive and helpful. Both checked in on us, often. Which, for us, is super important not to feel forgotten. No problem here. Food: Uncorkd Burger (sub grilled chicken), Vegetable Risotto w/Salmon, Cheesesteak Egg Rolls, Homemade Vanilla Bread Pudding Cake & Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake. My wife said, convincingly, that the Grilled Chicken Burger was good. (and that's saying something. (She's super picky about chicken sandwiches) My Vegetable Salmon Risotto was terrific. Fresh, bright, creamy, & flavorful. The salmon may have been cooked slightly over, but only slightly. Cheesesteak Egg Rolls were very good. Not made in-house. The desserts were delicious. Bread pudding with Caramel Drizzle! Oh my! Light & Delicious. Stick Toffee Pudding Cake with a decadent dark chocolate sauce. Delightful. We took those desserts to go and had them at home. Delicious. Terrific experience, tonight. I would go back in a heartbeat. Certainly would recommend. 4.2

Finding your way upstairs adds to the speakeasy-style charm. The reception area alone sets the vibe: playful, stylish, and full of photo-worthy moments before you even sit down. It feels like you've discovered something not everyone knows about. We went with the small plate prix fixe menu (three courses), and each dish was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and -- most importantly -- delicious. Every course left us wanting just a little more, which is exactly how a tasting-style experience should feel. Nothing felt rushed, and the pacing of the food was on point. Cocktails were also excellent, creative, well-balanced, and fitting for the ambiance. The only hiccup of the night was drink service being a bit slow. Not a dealbreaker by any means, but noticeable. Overall, a great Restaurant Week experience in a space that feels both intimate and fun. I'll absolutely be back to explore the full menu soon.
