Stromboli has heavier bottom, light airy top crust, filled w/ meat & cheese- quality of both not as good as some places but again, a tasty value. Ham is cubed not sliced (can spill out & be a little troublesome). Place is awkward to get to if coming from Douglasville direction. She explained the difference between hard and soft rolls, and I decided to go with the large one (which I'm glad I did). The hoagie was incredibly delicious! The fresh meats and cheeses were of the highest quality, and there was no skimping on ingredients. I ate half of in the car and the rest when I got home. This small shop far surpassed any chain restaurant I've ever been to, and it's definitely one of the best food experiences I've had. I'm completely satisfied and will definitely make this a weekly treat.

I've lived in this area my entire life. I grew up on eating pretty "OK" cheesesteaks and survived…read morejust fine. I also have driven to Philly for a "real" cheesesteak and have had a number of great sandwiches locally in the last few years. I've heard a lot of good stuff about JD's and decided to check it out. If you're a local foodie, you know there are probably 3 sandwich joints that everyone swears by, and JD's is one of them, so we were very excited to give this a whirl. I had a quick trip one night after work, and we were getting home around 630, so we called in an order to JDs. There was a big mix up with our order (not knocking anyone for that, stuff happens) and our order was prepared again in record time and got home. We ordered 2 different cheesesteaks and some garlic parm fries. So let me get this out of the way, the cheesesteaks were good. Nothing at all wrong with them, but they were very much a "Berks County" cheesesteak... I don't know how else to describe it, but if you grew up here in the 90s, this tasted exactly like every cheesesteak you've had at a pizza shop or sandwich shop in the past. There is NOTHING wrong with that. I thought it was good, but it was just a good sandwich, nothing to write home about. The fries, were cold before we got home , and while you get A LOT of fries, they were just fine once we reheated them in the air fryer. They tasted good, they had decent seasoning, but again nothing special. The staff was nice, cannot complain about service, fixed the mistake quickly and got us on our way. If you want just a good cheesesteak, and good fries, this is your place... its just a very good sandwich shop with good food. Nothing wrong with that, if this was my neighborhood shop I would have no problem eating here regularly, and maybe I ordered the wrong style of sandwich and I need to try again (I will).
