Had Easter dinner here yesterday. I wish I had more of a positive experience with our first time at The Inn on Main, but not so much. Seated in the bar area. This was unpleasant and Was not a formal way of having Easter dinner. The music was not inviting but was suited for a youth crowd. Classical or instrumental would have been classy/relaxing & inviting to hear while having dinner. Unfortunately, the salmon was very dry. The Ham & the Peep cocktail was good however. This is my new favorite restaurant in the local area. I'm so glad that the owners reopened this beautiful property after it had been closed for many years. The food here has always been good although they've changed the menu a few times since the grand opening. I'm a little sad that they removed the ribeye steak from the menu and now only have a filet mignon as a steak option. But there are plenty of good choices and everything i've had has been good. On my last visit we ordered the Greek Slate as an appetizer. It was outstanding! Such a beautiful presentation and very tasty. I highly recommend this appetizer if you're a fan of the Mediterranean. On my visits the service has always been good. The atmosphere is beautiful and the food is excellent. It's a GREAT place to go for a special occasion but also really nice for lunch or a casual dinner. This is my new first choice on those occasions when I have to take a client out to lunch. read more

Food was just bad. Everything everyone ordered, especially those who had anything with crab. They all said it tasted like tuna. Even the French onion soup was awful. Chunks of under cooked onions in a watery broth. The spinach balls tasted like stove top stuffing and spinach. Four of the things our group wanted, drinks and food, were unavailable. Prices are obscene for the quality. Service was ok, even though the place was empty, the food took forever. In this case the kitchen and ingredients are the problem. Go somewhere else to spend a couple hundred dollars, for lunch. read more

We have never tried this place. I got reservations for Valentine's Day.The one thing we got in on time . And then it was rushed our bill was over$200.00 and we didn't get rolls are drinks came out after the salad and soup! It was busy so we saw our waitress only 2times ! On Order and bill. We took our dessert home BUT not even what we ordered when we saw it at home! Cheesecake was a mess no topping! Some kind of cake - I don't know I didn't want that. My lobster and ribeye was wonderful but the prime rib was advertised as a king cut was small and very tuff to chew. No one asked if we were okay or any drink refills either. Visiting with friends who live local and wanted to treat them to a nice dinner. Unfortunately the food was just ok but the server was miserable. For the cost of the meal the food was mediocre at best. we could have still enjoyed if the waitress was friendly but never offered to refill drinks til end of meal. once meal was over we waited at least 15 min to get our bill. dessert was never offered. too bad because atmosphere was nice. read more

A resturant gem in an olden-time feel with fresh, new food! Went for Mother's Day brunch and had a delight of a time. We saved the best for last in our meals - so this is where to start!! The chocolate mousse - OMG! No words. The texture, the creaminess in stiff chocolate peaks, the best ever! To die for - even being stuffed from our meals the desserts were cleaned. Besides we also shared the creme brulee. An interesting variation in the bruleed sugar within the filling. Mom enjoyed that the filling was warmed and the restaurant happily accomodated her strawberry allery with blackberries and raspberries a top the dessert instead. Cocktails were fair. A run-of-the-mill espresso martini and bloody mary. The mimosas features with many puree/infusion options were fun and enjoyed. We tried much of the Mother's Day featured menu. Apps - the burrata flatbread, truffle fries and seafood dip. HELLO seafood dip - yum. This portion was generous for the whole table (of 5) to have mutiple servings. (Best being Mom who devoured it, lololol.) It was well combined of seafood and cheese, nothing overwhelmed the other. The truffle fries were crispy and truffley. Crunch and flavor - well done. The flatbread was a star. Not too sweet on the glaze, the combination with proscuitto and argula, a classic. For entrees - around the table was the Lobster Cobb Salad, Salmon BLT, Lobster Ravioli, Turkey Club and Chicken Strudel. All portions were extremely generous - major leftovers. Well pleased for the leftovers though! The sandwiches - happily done, besides the bread. A crunchier ciabatta needed for the BLT. But those homemade chips - dark russet beauties! The Lobster Ravioli was a solid. The Chicken dish appeared interesting in a large rolled phyllo, crisp and cooked well inside with its sauce. The green beans were overcooked, but a traditional accompaniment being with their scalloped potatoes. The Cobb salad as itself was great. Lots of toppings placed around the bowl individually. The lobster was bountiful but diced and lacked flavor. Standout for the salad - the bleu cheese dressing, chunks!!! With leftovers, had to take an extra container home for super dipping. Our server, Jen was a doll and a hustler. She gave great service. And definitely was attentive!! It was a bit distracting to be sitting right at the pass-through for the service staff, but no other option. The food was also well paced. A pleasant surprise at the Inn on Main!! A delicious dinner at the inn tonight for their Oktoberfest special:) we sat outside and enjoyed live music and great food. Highly recommend a stop but bring your patience:) some stutter steps with frozen drink lines and a forgotten app but the waitress was attentive and the food is good. Well worth it! read more

We are SOOOO glad they hired Tam. She's the best local chef around. Our food was truly amazing. We had the burratta Fresca, spinach balls, chicken Dijon strudel, and a cheeseburger. All some of the best food ever. Our food was amazing. Based on some of the other reviews, I hope the owner gets the manager under control or gets someone on Tam's level to run the front of the house. The Inn on Main spent a lot of time and effort making the menu and venue look very fancy for serving very bad food. We visited my in laws this weekend and went here for lunch. I can speak to a few items we ordered. My ribeye, ordered rare, was an abomination. As soon as the waitress brought it out, I knew what I was in for. It was grey, with no bark, and only about a quarter inch thick. I don't know where they found this cut of meat but it must have been dirt cheap. I ordered it rare and it was so thin that it was probably impossible to cook at that temperature and came out well done. It was the first time I've ever sent something back. It wasn't worth $7 let alone $32. My sister in law got the filet mignon. She was shaking the table trying to cut it (granted, it was ordered medium, but still...). And I tasted her side of Mac n cheese... it was like they took Mac n cheese and mixed it with water and maybe green onion. It was without a doubt the worst mac I've ever had the displeasure of tasting. My mother in law got the scallops, all of which had one side burnt black. The audacity to serve protein like this was astonishing? How can you let something leave the kitchen like that? I doubt this place will be open much longer if they continue serving this abysmal food. I want Inn on Main to be so much better than it is. Have been twice now: once for drinks and a bite and once for lunch. The best thing they have going for them is their daytime bartender. The menu is so expensive and each time the food tasted like something I'd eat at an airport because there were no other options. The ambience in the main dining room is nonexistent--how do you have a restaurant without music in all the rooms? They were blaring music from the bar hoping it would make it to the back room but it didn't. In an area that needs good restaurants, I wish the original chef who wanted to serve local farm to table food was able to open. Unfortunately that didn't happen and now I see Sysco trucks making deliveries so the quality is just not there for the price. On top of that I heard there was a new manager and chef but same menu. Same $$$$$$ prices. Think about seeking other restaurants if you want a nice evening out. read more

We stopped by after visiting a new shop down the street. I am so glad we did! The atmosphere, at the bar, was reminiscent to other beloved quaint family restaurants Jimmy and I used to go to. My drink was fabulous...first of all I needed a coffee something fierce and when I asked the bartender if they had possibly a little bit of coffee left he looked at me just like all bartenders do when they don't have the coffee station behind their bar and gave me that look and I said honey it's okay. Make me a beverage and he said how about a martini espresso I said oh yes sir! It was just what I needed... And some coconut encrusted shrimp! A little pricey for the area, but food and atmosphere are great. The menu is diverse, so you can spend a little or a lot. But drinks are very expensive, which makes an odd pairing for the lower end of the menu. I had the tenderloin tips, which were amazing. My only wish was that the portion was a little bigger. read more

This was the worst restaurant I've ever been to. We never got our food. We waited an hour and 20 minutes for salads and then decided to leave. When we asked about our food, the manager (our server) was rude and her behavior was disgusting. We were celebrating the birthday of my father in law who passed in February. She took no responsibility and blamed her kitchen staff. She told us it wasn't her service (our drinks stayed empty, she never checked in to update). The only redeeming quality was the 16 year old kid that genuinely apologized when we left. My mother in law left in tears. When we arrived, the "manager" told us they were running behind. We patiently waited to put in our order (with two young kids). About 15 minutes, no problem. 30 minutes in they brought out drinks. The special cocktail lacked alcohol and flavor. My husband requested 3 different beers, they were out of all of them, before he just asked for any pils or lager they had. She brought out a 10% quad. Based on her insufficiencies elsewhere, I'll assume our manager/waitress didn't ask for the right beer. He did not complain. An hour in they brought out the kids meals. They were cheap US Foods spongy chicken fingers and undercooked pizza. Thank god for well behaved kids and on the go snacks. At this point we asked about our food and the manager snapped it was coming and she told us it would be a long wait. Her demeanor here is where we'd had enough. An hour and 20 in they brought out salads. They were good. But at that point, with no other food in sight (we ordered apps too) we asked for the check. The manager was insincere and the closest apology we got was her recognizing it had been over an hour and that she was happy she got the kids meals out. When she brought the check my MIL expressed her disappointment and she interrupted her and said "WELL CAN I SHOW YOU WHAT I DID FOR YOU". Like she was doing us a favor...she couldn't even get soup on the table. I told her to be stop talking and give her the check, she responded by saying "you don't have to be rude to me" :) The irony. A strong manager would apologize, recognize and correct. This manager made excuses, told us she wasn't rude, and blamed her staff. They charged us for alcohol and not the salad and kids meals. At that point, it didn't matter. Tam is a very talented chef and we were so looking forward to it, I hope they find a new manager so the restaurant can run the way it should. read more

To be fair, the last really good restaurant, in our opinion, in Berks was Landis Store which closed years ago. And before that, the original Inn at Oley before the fire which ended it. When it reopened, we had hopes that it would be good, but sadly not. On the recommendations of friends, we recently went to the Inn again, and were again disappointed. A simple chicken picante looked like the chicken was poached, almost as white as the pasta which was overcooked, and the whole meal tasteless. My wife's meal, which she enjoyed was scallops and risotto, with overcooked green beans (not enjoyed). And at Phlly prices? Really? We won't be going there again. read more

Last night was quite possibly the worst dining experience I've ever had. I've never left a restaurant before receiving my entree or confronted a manager before. When my family arrived, I overheard a customer say his table had been waiting 15 minutes for a server to take their drink orders. The hostess let us know there weren't enough menus for everyone in our party. I should have known then. The manager came over and said they were short-staffed and there would be a wait; we understood. To the restaurant's credit, the kids (a 1.5 year old and 7 year old) received their meals relatively quickly. However, they were finished before the adults even received their salads, which was over an hour after our reservation/arrival. No one delivered our appetizers. We probably would have been there until closing time if we waited for our entrees. My major complaints: 1. We requested an earlier reservation. We were told they couldn't accommodate that, but were clearly overbooked at our reservation time. They need to reconsider their booking system. 2. They didn't have all things listed on the menu so we had to reorder the kids' meals and most draft beers were unavailable. 3. They were so understaffed the manager had to serve us. 4. The manager was rude. When I asked for an ETA on our soup and salad, she said something like "I told you there was going to be a wait. They're coming now." It took another 5-10 minutes to get our salad. She blamed everyone else and took no responsibility. We heard great things about this restaurant. It was meant to be a special day for my family but was so incredibly disappointing. read more

Well, we had come to to reopened Inn On Main on November 4th and it was fantastic, so good we decided to bring friends to try it out. What a mistake that was... Upon entry to the restaurant we were ignored by the male host, he never look up from whatever he was doing, it someone else coming up to be acknowledged. Once seated service was slow, hot water took nearly 10 minutes longer that everyone else's drinks. The chicken and waffles were atrocious, the chicken was one of the smallest thighs I have seen. The waffles were bricks and inedible. My friends croissant was burnt, and I mean black, we informed out server and she shrugged with an oh well smirk and walked away. The pistachio stuffed French toast was smothered in an overly sweet sauce that overpowered everything else, which sadly was the best of the meals. Sadly we will not be going back. If you still decide to go I hope you have the first experience we had, and not the dismal second round. read more

I had my first visit to the Inn on Main yesterday, loved it! I had the Chicken Ceasar salad. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, just the way I like it. The chicken breast was deliciously seasoned, and the dressing was perfection. My friend had the French onion soup, a side salad and chicken wraps, she had to take some home, the portions are generous. We just returned home from my husband's birthday lunch at the Inn. The rustic atmosphere was nice, but I imagine during busy dining hours, it would be loud as there was nothing to buffer the noise. The seafood dip was okay but a bit too fishy. I ordered the filet mignon sandwich. The mustard they had on it was very hot and offered no flavor. The filet was bits ( very sparse) of overcooked beef that was chewy. Reminded me of stew meat. My husband ordered the chicken caesar wrap. The chicken was very tender but not particularly flavorful. The best part of the meal was the french fries!! Not fresh cut but good nonetheless. I would have expressed my displeasure to the waitress, though she never checked in on us during the meal, nor asked if we enjoyed our meal upon leaving. Will not be returning. read more

Let's start with the positive ....the building is beautiful. A lovely restoration tastefully redone. But sad to say... that is the only positive. It's unfortunate but many restaurants lack attention to detail. In this case you have beautiful space which lacks any warmth or coziness. The lighting is not done as well as it could have been and the room in which we sat had no music !! This might have been a good thing in retrospect as the music that was in the bar and in a second much smaller dining room was hard rock. Not what you would expect if you are trying to attract customers who appreciate expensive upscale dining. Oh yes, expensive. The wine was $15 for a small pour. We asked the waitress to turn up the heat as it was quite cold inside and she said it was 69 and that was basically all we were going to get. Ok. It was the night after Thanksgiving and no one was to there to provide body heat but we felt like if we didn't like it we could leave....which is exactly what we did. After a glass of wine and a pricey appetizer we decided we were not going to spend $100 for dinner and be uncomfortable sitting looking at lovely yet stark tables with no flowers or other decoration or even salt and pepper shakers ! So three miles away is a lovely restaurant with excellent food, warm ambient lighting, great wine list with reasonable prices and friendly attentive service which is where we happily wound up. In all fairness maybe we should try the outside patio next summer for an appetizer. read more

My wife and I always enjoyed the old inn before it closed. We were excited that it was finally reopening and had dinner there shortly afterward. Disappointed was an understatement. Having heard that the chef changed, we had dinner there recently. My wife's scallops were very good, although the amount of peas with it was a bit much. My chicken on pasta was overcooked and underseasoned (or not seasoned at all) and a couple of bites of it was enough. The manager offered to comp the meal with another meal, etc., and was very polite and apologetic about it, and didn't charge for my meal. As much as we would love to have dinner locally, we would not be returning to the Inn on Main. read more

It has the charms of an old building and feels so cozy. I constantly recommend this restaurant to friends and family. I can't wait to go again. We decided to return to this establishment, even though our first experience was not that great. What a mistake! Our second visit was so much worse! The wings they served were raw inside. We told the waitress and she did nothing. We even still had to pay for them....UNHEARD OF AND COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS! The Caesar Salad was bland and the chicken was definitely not fresh. What a nice place to dine in Oley! The ambiance of the place was great although a bit loud as it was crowded- good sign! Kelly who waited on us was so attentive and needless to say, service was exemplary. She even rejected one of the appetizers we ordered as she didn't think the quality was good. The seafood dip was great but the scallop bruschetta was not what we expected. The bread was just too big and I think overwhelmed the scallops. I enjoyed their speciality cocktail, winter solstice. For main, I had to try their hamburger as personally I continually seek good ones in the area. I have to say, they didn't disappoint. Now I will be in dilemma at my next visit as I'd like to try other dishes but probably crave for their burger. My husband had the pork chop which was also good. A bit disappointed with the chimichurri as it lacked the chili peppers. However the wasabi mash potatoes outweighed that point. We're looking forward to trying their brunch. read more
