We have eaten here several times now and I feel it is fair at this point to leave a review. Half the menu is burgers and they have run out of burgers a couple of times now. If half your menu is going to be unavailable more than once it seems that a good owner would have a back up plan in place. When they have the food it is really good. The ice cream is delicious so if dessert is what you are looking for I recommend them if you are looking for a meal then look somewhere else unless you feel like taking a gamble. read more

We came with 9 people and the service was great. Have nice simple kids menu - pancakes and bacon for all the kids today - and loads of choices for the adults. Eggs were done perfectly - fluffy and warm. Home fries are super crispy. Bacon was done north of medium - so also nice and crispy. Very kid friendly. I live in the area and have passed by here many times. Had never eaten here, but decided to give it a try. My friend and I stopped by on a Friday evening. After a reasonable wait time, we were seated at a comfortable booth and were greeted by a friendly waitress. Took our drink order and quickly got our beverages. However, our experience went downhill from there. O.K. , it was Friday night and kind of expected "a family restaurant", but soon realized that this place is NOISY! After placing our food order, we experienced a lengthy wait, ever for a Friday evening. Even a bustling wait staff did not prepare us for what followed. My friend ordered a 'burger with a side of "glazed" carrots. I decided to try one of the advertised "specials", a Shrimp Dinner. When the food finally arrived, we had to ask for napkins and silverware. (No setup on the table). Her hamburger was hard and almost inedible. The "glazed" carrots were more like steamed and not very appealing. My Shrimp Dinner was a real disappointment. The breaded shrimp was very salty and about a third of it was little crumbly, hard pea sized breading. I did however, find the baked potato fairly decent. Had to ask for tarter sauce and drink refills. We worked our way through the edible parts of the meal and received our check. I am generally a fair tipper, but was a little taken aback by a 3.5% credit card charge added to our bill. Who does that in a debit-card world? Added a decent tip to charge and left. This will more than likely be our first and last visit. There are too many places within 2 or 3 miles with much more enjoyable experiences. read more

We visited The Bridge during their soft opening for a late breakfast, but things were running so smoothly you'd never know they were still working out the kinks. The service was on point, the food fresh and delicious, and decor on point and kitschy in just the right way. Wherever you sit in the restaurant you have something interesting to look at. Best of all, they have a large selection of Gluten Free options available at no additional cost. This includes breads, pancakes, even GF bacon! This is hard to find in Charlotte, let alone the burbs. The Bridge is currently open for breakfast and lunch Monday-Thursday, all day Friday- Saturday, close Sunday. Support local business and good food! read more

We have since gone at least 10 times and every single time they've been super polite and friendly and the food has been delicious. We've had breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner (their garlic mashed potatoes must be made with angel wings and baby dreams). The fact that their meat is cooked over an old school flame makes it awesome. I never order burgers except for here. They're phenomenal. The place next to them serves snow cones and they're so flippin' good - and cheap. It's a nice "dessert". Plus they have cornhole and swings! Still great! read more

I am a local from hemby bridge. I enjoy supporting local and will give any restaurant a try. Visited Saturday May 13 for an early Mother's Day dinner with my mother and my son. Parking- not overly crowded. Easy to find and get to with two different entries/exits. Gravel is nice, no mud. First impression, THIS IS CUTE! Cute set up, small and quaint, nicely decorated to get the home cooking country feel. Hostess was extremely sweet and greeted us promptly. Waitress came and greeted us in a timely fashion, was nice and went over menu with us. Drinks came in mason jars which was a cute touch! Wait staff may need a little over view of what's in the "hemby bridge caviar" as she wasn't sure what was in it so we were apprehensive to try. Ordered hamburger steak and Cajun chicken pasta. Hamburger steak was perfect. Cajun chicken was amazing alone but the Pasta was just ok. Cream sauce was chunky like it hadn't been mixed well and lacked a little flavor. I wouldn't order that again. But that chicken alone would make an awesome sandwich of some sort. Opted out of desserts. Overall was fine. Would try breakfast and lunch before going back for dinner. read more

Food is reasonably priced food. Good brunch menu. Cons: Waitress was slow and wasn't around much. It was hard to get the check as she disappeared for a while and all the other waitresses passed with offering to help. Bathrooms need some work for a new place, broken and all supplies including soap we're out. Would give it a second try someday. read more

Family place with home cookin. Had lunch today. Got a hot dog with chili, slaw and onions with a side tossed salad for just under $6. Salad had grape tomatoes and cucumbers and was really fresh and cut up well. Hot dog had great flavor and the chili was delicious. Husband had just under $7 pulled pork sandwich with slaw and fries -he said it was average, but also got biscuits and gravy ($2) and said they were outstanding!!! They have a kids menu and kids cups. The Good: This place really is adorable. I love the story of the owners family being Hemby Bridge natives. From the servers to the cashier, everyone that works in the restaurant is so friendly and helpful! Excellent service! The food is typical diner type food but good. The Bad: They're closed for dinner. So at a school spirit night tonight, many people were upset over not being able to have dinner before the ice cream night. Also, for some reason, several schools were scheduled to have Spirit Nights on the same night. The Ugly: The patio is small. That's okay normally. They've added a couple of plastic toddler-type play-sets which make it even smaller. With all of the schools there on the same night and all the siblings, it was complete chaos. And little toys? From balls to a thousand (seemingly) toy cars and trucks, it was hard to walk without stepping on one. I was hit in the head twice with a ball. This is a recipe for disaster or a lawsuit by someone anyway. Staff Issues at the creamery -- I'm a pretty nice person so for me to say this.. The lines were super long and the staff was definitely overwhelmed. The cashier wasn't rude but wasn't friendly either. The food took awhile to come out. One overly salted pretzel and one yummy pretzel dog. I asked for mustard for my pretzel dog while at the window getting our food. The girl there told me there was some in my container. I looked and there wasn't. She looked very annoyed and asked the cashier if I was allowed to have mustard. The cashier apparently asked what I had ordered. Pretzel dog. And with a big show she turned around and got me a couple of packages. I mean I'm all for a restaurant or business not wasting money but this was a little much. After having those snacks, we ordered ice cream and a milkshake. The milkshake came out as literally vanilla ice cream in a cup. There was a little milk at the bottom but the top was solid scooped ice cream. A person beside me commented that I would never be able to suck that through a straw. We had to leave shortly after that so I went to ask for a lid for the milkshake (it wasn't served with one?) The lid that I was given was for a coffee cup with a tiny soppy cup type hole in the top. As in absolutely no way that a straw one fit it. (Once that it melted enough to drink it that is) I ended up tearing some of the plastic off the top of the lid to put a straw in. I'm disappointed. First time popping in even though we live nearby and I grew up in Matthews. Mal was our server and she was fabulous. Our youngest is gluten intolerant and we never go anywhere because it simply isn't worth the risk of her getting sick. I was so surprised to find so many options at this price point. Both my little ones had a blast playing in the little fenced in area and eating dippin dots but the highlight for me was the collard greens. Hands down the best I have had since my great grandmothers. The fried shrimp are really great quality and not over breaded which I loved. The people who complain on here about it can shush. It isn't five star dining but it's perfect for what it is and an absolute dream for this mama and her littles. The idea behind it is brilliant and makes you feel like home. read more

Great food,nice people, cool and fun location. I actually ate here about five times while visiting North Carolina. What I love most about about The Bridge is that it captures the true heart of southern home cooking. Not imitation or trying to flair up old recipes, it's real southern food I grew up eating. They also listen to feedback so don't be afraid to give them your opinion. They are locally owned and have been residents of the area there whole lives, they know the people and the food they love and bring that to the table. They also feature great desserts from cheese cake to banana pudding. The first time I walked in it felt like I was walking to grandmas house for Sunday supper. Went for lunch. Our expectations weren't high going in. Unfortunately, the food quality was poorer than we could have imagined. The fries tasted like frozen fries that had been baked. They were cold, dry and hard. Hamburger tasted like one of those premade patties one buys in the freezer section of a grocery store, hard and full of filler. The meatloaf was grayish in color. So were the green beans. The service was friendly but didn't compensate for the food. Today's visit was a one-off for us. We won't go back. read more

Went here for dinner with my sister and our kids we usually have a nice time great food but tonight was the first time going after 8 won't do that again were seated then we order around 820 and as we're waiting for our food we noticed they are cleaning not pre-busting straight sweeping around us, ok what ever that's really gross but what ever, food comes we try to eat and all of a sudden I smell bleach I mean just straight nauseating bleach I turn around the bucket is behind my seat and she is mopping and they are wiping the tables with bleach mind you it is 847 they close at 9 we started to become sick from the smell. I ordered to go. The person taking the order was clueless about the menu and what sides were available.but she managed to get the order taken. I asked instead of a roll could I substitute for hush puppies but was told I could not. I was also told that I could not purchase them separate. When I arrived I found out that the restaurant charges an additional 3.5% on top of the order to take my credit card payment. Is this 2019? Unbelievable!i almost sure they charge more than the bank charges them. Most bank fees are around 2.75% for to accept credits. The meal was ok.. BBQ was way too smokey. I wouldn't order it again. The corn cassias good though. I'm not sure if I would go back just because of the cc fee. read more

Loved the creamery with the kids when we first went, the girls working were very sweet. The last time we went, the teenager working was awful, he was very rude and when my toddler had to use the bathroom he refused to open the door like they had the previous time for us forcing us to throw all of our ice cream away. Since they are a creamery with kids toys they should have a restroom for their customers, since they don't we unfortunately will not be coming back. read more

Yelp helped me discover this quaint country diner. The exterior boasts a mountain like atmosphere. The interior just reassures you that you will be in for some scrumptious country cooking. We were not disappointed. The menu is very reasonably priced for breakfast. Both my husband and I had meals under $7. I had eggs, sausage, home fries, and toast. Please note they only have white and rye on hand. My husband had a spinach, feta, and tomato omelet. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The portions are very large. The coffee was good and the sweet tea was sweetened perfectly. The service was fantastic. Everyone from the hostess, to the waitress, to the cashier was very nice and welcoming. We had a great time and will definitely be back. I saw some negative reviews and I am not sure why. The service was great, the place was clean, and the prices were great! Rating should be 3.5. The main dining area was really loud, very hard to hear the attentive server. My meal was good, and the price was fair. Much preferred over the plethora of fast food options nearby. I did not expect anything less. The service was reasonable considering it was peak lunch rush and there were no empty tables when we arrived. Maybe it seemed to take longer than some would prefer, didn't really bother me, as I had asked for a change to my sandwich, the kitchen was slammed and only can do so much with the space available.
