I've been struggling with finding decent food joints in Macon, but this one definitely tops my list. I was a bit wary while ordering the food and its high prices since I was afraid it wouldn't be good. But, I was wrong. I had the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and the marinara sauce stole the show. The sticks themselves were good--crunchy, crispy, and nicely herbed. But whatever was in the marinara sauce...wow! I wanted more. I got the white calzone (the online price says $12.50 but it was actually $14.50, which is irritating), and it looked like it was not going to be good since it appeared slightly burnt. A group of us went here to grab a bite to eat after church. The fried pickles are awesome! Very crispy and served with ranch for dipping sauce. My husband and I split their hogzilla pizza. It was really good. They are really heavy slices. Eight slices come in a medium and we were able to bring 3 slices home for later. Definitely loaded with lots of meat. Our son had barbecue chicken wings and fries that he really enjoyed. One of our friends had the Hawaii Five-Oh Pizza, he ate it all and said he'd get it again. Jerk Chicken Alfredo Pasta was enjoyed by another one of our friends. The only reason they did not get five stars is because one of the restrooms had a malfunctioning toilet and another restroom could've used some attention. Also, the Arnold Palmers were not good at all. We live in the south. There is no excuse for a nasty Arnold Palmer. I would definitely visit them again. I'd just get a Sprite the next time. Just don't eat here...don't ruin your night. I honestly hate to be leaving this review because the floor staff was good, our waitress was beyond understanding. We ordered a pitcher of beer, waited 15+ minutes for a pitcher and was told the bartender messed up and poured 4 beers. We declined the 4 beers since the previous pitcher we ordered was 5.5 beers. The bartender proceeded to pour the beers into a pitcher to give to us, we could visually see this happening from our table. The head on the beer was over 3 inches, and as a bartender I know this isn't acceptable. We declined the pitcher and requested a new one be poured. This was a very obvious problem with the bartender and the floor manager but they poured us a new pitcher. So cool. At the end of our meal, without warning, we were charged with BOTH pitchers. We waited 20+ minutes to talk to a manager and wasn't able to until we flagged him down. Ultimately there's a very basic standard of service we expected to receive and those in management failed to meet even those very basic standards. I love coming to The Brick! Both for happy hour with cheap beer specials and tasty appetizers or with our family for a delicious and filling lunch/dinner. Some favorite foods: The wings are big and you can order them extra crispy by request. My husband really likes the Brown Sugar Hot flavor wings and I am partial to the Lemon Pepper. I also really like the "Montezuma's Revenge" sandwich (warning, the jalapeños pack a punch!). We've also had the fried pickles, stuffed mushrooms, and chips with salsa and queso. The salsa was surprisingly delicious! It had a roasted tomato flavor that was smoky and flavorful. My husband also recommends the Italian dressing on a salad. We were heading through Macon and we needed a late lunch - and I had a request for fries, pizza, and a sandwich. The Brick hit all those. Hubby ordered a chicken sandwich with their seasoned fries. The sandwich needed a sauce or something, but it was rather tasty. Kiddos and I shared a pizza. It was quite good. There is A LOT of cheese on the pizza, which may be the thing for some, but it was a bit much for us. All in all though it was a good lunch. Modern, rustic farm house feel to the new location of The Brick in Macon at The Lofts at College Hill building complex. A large bar area with lots of stools and extra gathering/waiting space. Outlets at the bar are a plus when you need to charge your devices. They have a decent size stage for live music, but acoustics apparently aren't the best so you may want to skip on dining here if you aren't fond of the live music venue feel while eating. Events are listed on their website. I was told to come here and try a calzone. I picked out the California BLT and made a game time last minute decision to go with a pasta instead. Next time, I'm ready for that calzone. Their menu is pretty large with pizza, calzones, salads, pastas and sandwiches plus a whole bunch of apps. You have to find something on the menu for everyone with a list like this. I had the Park Slope pasta ($13.95) and was pretty impressed. Good size portion, took half to go so for the price and two meals, wasn't bad. The jerk chicken gave the sauce a different taste in a good way and you can't go wrong with bacon in anything. I'd order it again, after that calzone of course. Drink options are aplenty, both on tap and liquor. They seem to be working on a happy hour and/or drink specials so stay tuned. read more

Food was hit and miss. My wife had the Jerk Chicken Fettucini Alfredo and it was very good. It had a rich and thick consistency and the chicken had just the roght amount of spice. I had Penne and Marinara with Meatballs. The Penne was overcooked and the marinara was bland and watery, like something that came out a jar. The meatballs were flavorful and excellent though. The Cheese Bread was Outstanding as was my sons Chicken Tenders and Fries. We split opinions on the pizza though. While the toppings and cheese were fresh and delicious, the crust itself is very thin and weak. We'll probably be back again to see if this was jist an off night or if this is the standard.
