The bartender was welcoming and kind and gave good suggestions. He also made me a great peach drink. The fries were my favorite. You can't go wrong with fried chicken, Buffalo sauce on fries. The salmon bites are served with sweet chili sauce, but I asked for a ride of mango habanero sauce, and that was bomb. I travel a lot for work. Like a lot. I came here due to it being so close to my hotel. All I can say is it possible this could be the best burger I have ever had? Given there are all types of burgers and each one holds its own recognition, however this burger just flat out killed it. It was the Bernstein Bear. At first bite I was like plain Jane, but once I hit the angry bear jam it was over. I ordered tots and they did them right. Hard fried so they were crispy. The service was really quick as expected at 5p. They have quite a few tv's and if you are a beer drinker they have a literal wall of taps. All in all, I want to try everything else. read more

Location was good, but very small was expecting a large space. Service was good and beer (Modelo) was great. Food not so good and here's why: brioche bun was dry/old would have helped if placed on the grill to soak up some of those burger juices. Didn't receive the onions on the burger, at that point I was to hungry to complain, burger was not smashed it was just like a thinner burger but there were no smash burger crispy edges at all and the fries were almost non-existent I would say I got 15 and that's probably too generous. The food was fantastic. I got the Cuban and it was amazing. The pork was charred to perfection and it was on a high quality roll. the beer selection was also fantastic. The waitress was very attentive and she was quick to brink us rounds of drinks and food. Unfortunately there was a DJ and the music and mic volume was way too loud. Ok. Y'all already know I love to eat, and after my doctor's appointment, I was hongry. Now I'm taking accountability for my greediness, but I'm not fully responsible at this time as the doctor has me on an appetite stimulant (for other reasoning), so pray for me. I settled for the Berenstain Bear Burger - a double smash burger with American cheese, brown sugar candied bacon, fried onion ring, fried banana peppers, and angry bear sauce. I opted to put the angry bear sauce on the side of course so I could control how much was on the burger. Because an onion ring was already on the burger, I was gonna complete it with onion rings as my side however the gentleman taking my order, who was super nice by the way, said he always go for the tots so tots it was - extra crispy. They were just that. I ate them en route home. I actually dipped a few in the angry sauce. It was a good sauce, but I didn't detect a spice level to it. I actually enjoyed the burger without adding any of the sauce. The burger patties were not too thick and cooked well. I could definitely taste the candied bacon. The taste of both the onion ring and banana peppers were absent, and neither did they serve as a crunch factor. But the burger was really good overall. read more

This place is great! After a really long day I just wanted a burger and a drink and a nice long nap. I found the perfect burger and that bear sauce is so good. I am a sauce person..I usually load my burger with all the toppings but the Bacon Bear Burger didn't need anything at all. Everything was really good and the service was also on point. The moment I walked in and sat down multiple people were taking care of me. The Library needs more reviews cause I'm just saying if you're looking for a good burger place this would be the one also has an extensive beer selection so there's also that. Can I take some bear sauce to go please? Also I forgot, I got the Wild Leap Grapefruit Peach Wine cocktail..I already drank most of it but I will add a picture. We waited 10-15 min before someone came by to welcome us and offer us menus and get drinks. Only a bartender and a server working and it was busy. The bartender guy walked RIGHT past us to check on the tables on either side of us. He blantely ignored us. The female server was extremely nice. Some folks sat at the bar after we sat down but they got served before us. They're obviously understaffed and it shows. We tried to be patient. Our food tasted good but the appetizer came out WITH our food so what was the point in an appetizer. Food was good. Service was slow and we didn't appreciate being ignored. read more

They seated some white people that came in after us and it was the same amount of people in our parties..the server didn't apologize. We walked next door to our hotel, called back after our food was cold and hard and they wouldn't switch it out for any replacements, I was going to spend more than the food actually cost! Staff was friendly and very accommodating but were out of quite a beer of their draft beers even though that is what they want to be known for. Also, we were the only true patrons while we were there with a collection of about 5 other people at the opposite end of the bar that were obviously staff members not on duty with some of their friends. Only had 1 visible server so there was about an hour wait. When we were seated, the server was apologetic. She suggested the specialty burger with sn onion ring, bbq sauce, and pimento cheese. The food is good, great atmosphere, good drinks, but they need more servers and help in kitchen. Ive been twice and my server was nice but she was the only one there. She had to work the bar and the tables. So it wasn't her fault that the service was bad, she was just overwhelmed. I assume the same thing is going on in the kitchen because they took forever to bring our food out. The second time I went to take my wife to lunch on her 1 hour lunch break and she works 2 minutes from the establishment, she never got a chance to eat lunch that day because they couldn't get her food out to her in time. A member of our party arrived late, ordered from the bar and was served before our orders were even taken. One member of our party stated his food was cold. I brought my friend here for his birthday and we were treated like crap. STEP did not greet us and was not very friendly. After an hour of waiting I asked for my check of a Margarita and Ice Tea. Step says ok. Mind you...she acknowledges ,yet Step ignores me and goes to get the food that we waited forever on. I kindly say "Please give me my check." Step goes into a tangent and yells and throws the food in the back. Step then proceeds to walk pass out table repeatedly. I then ask for my check again. This is a great option in the Mercer University area of Macon. The selection of Beers is fantastic, and the food is always great. They can be overrun on a Saturday Night when Mercer Football plays, but they are still worth the wait, and the servers try their best to help everyone. read more

We were traveling from North Carolina to north Texas and stopped for the night in Macon, GA. After asking the hotel management where we should eat, we were directed to several restaurants and bars in the vicinity...one of which was the Library Taphouse. We were seated promptly by Alec...the Manager, we presume...and subsequently had two of the best burgers I have ever eaten. The service was excellent, the staff were kind, and when we came back through Macon eight days later, we stayed in the same hotel and again ate at the Library. Highly recommended. read more
