Dive bars have tons of character (usually enhanced by the characters that hang out in those dive bars) and is a real glimpse of the past and present of a community. The walls of Grant's Lounge tell that history, the pictures show the storied past and the greats who graced that stage. We often hear the phrase "if these walls could talk," boy, does it truly apply here. Grant's Lounge is a place you must visit if you are in Macon, Georgia (I also recommend a stop at Nu-Way Weiners, a hot dog chain that started over one hundred years ago). Spots like Grant's Lounge and Nu-Way Weiners are the real history of Macon, Georgia. This is the real Macon, Georgia, the soul of this southern city. These are the businesses that are the day to day existence of Macon, not just a defining moment for a history book.
