Meh. This place is fine if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out my way for it. What's most confusing is why it was written up for Food Network. Like haven't they had better barbecue than this? This is the best middle Georgia has to offer? the rib "plate" cake with two decent ribs and one shriveled, tough little reject of a rib. While it wasn't expensive, I also didn't find it to be a great value, either. STEAMER RIBS? The ribs I ordered had kind of a bland, waterlogged quality. Like they'd been sitting around for a good while in a steamer basket or something. The flavor was okay. Just bland. And I'm not super into spicy food just to be clear. This is for the lot who maybe thinks mayonnaise is too "spicy." Maybe the ribs would have been better if they'd just come out of the smoker? The sauce was fine. I don't typically like vinegary sauces, but it wasn't like Carolina level vinegar... so fine, but not great. If it were served to me at a picnic I wouldn't complain, but I wouldn't rave, either. The sides were pretty forgettable. Everything was okay. The cole slaw tasted like it had a lot of pickles in it, which was unusual.

I go to pick up my mom and leave with 2 pounds of pulled pork and two sandwiches for the road without fail. Fincher's BBQ is the place that I visit every time I go to see my family in Georgia. The outside makes the place look small but they make up for it with large flavor. Their BBQ has a strong vinegar base to it. I've never been a fan of vinegar-based BBQ,however this place is certainly the exception. I would love to be in the kitchen and learn their secrets. They have a small dining area inside that's always packed and a drive-through window where people can get their BBQ fix on the run. I always keep it simple and get pulled pork sandwiches. If you're driving through Macon Georgia and you're a fan of delicious barbecue you have got to stop by Fincher's.

We were heading home from Atlanta and decided to stop in for a quick bite. When you first drive up you are transported back to the 50's and 60's era. I could see this place in its hay day. I could imagine stopping by after church for a super and some fries. That's about where the good part of this review ends. The food was okay. The pork on the super reminded me of the pork sandwiches from the school cafeteria. The fries needed salt, and the peach cobbler was mostly dough and had very few peaches. We were hoping for a great little hole in the wall place. This might have been an amazing place back in the day, but now, it's just okay.

Pulled pork, Brunswick stew, baked beans and fries. I was a lil skeptical at first but the food is pretty damn good! I'll be back.

The good: the BBQ is among the best in the country. It's vinegar based, but it sooooooo good. Your best bet is the Super Pig. The bad: the building is older than me, and I think older than my mom. The age shows. It's a tight fit if you want to eat inside, but there are tables outside. Overall, though, it's a dive that makes the best BBQ. You won't be disappointed.

You definitely feel the love with their servers. Extensive menu knowledge and very service oriented they aim to give you the best experience possible. So after a tasty cocktail and a very nice charcuterie board I went with the Crab and Panko Crusted Cod. Oh my goodness what a delicious entrée. A tasty crusted outside and so tender inside. And that lemon and miso creamed kale topped it all off. Definitely a place to try when in Macon. The only draw back is that it's up stairs on the 2nd floor with no elevator.

Got the salad & it was a pretty underdone piece of salmon after asking for it well done. Asked the waiter why it wasn't blackened (out of curiosity) still ate it & called it good & told me we had to ask for it blackened. It was a very basic boring salad with a frozen piece of salmon for $20. My husband ordered a burger & fries. The burger was really good & he got goat cheese & bacon on it. The fries on the other hand were not it. Bummer because they are supposedly hand cut. They were drenched in oil. Like to the point that you couldn't even eat a few without feeling awful. They were soggy & heavy. Think homemade fries but in a super old fryer with lots of crisco. Overall very underwhelming for a place with such high reviews. Won't be back! Gotta step up it up if you guys plan to stay in business for another 50 years!

Tucked away in an unsuspecting corner of Downtown Macon, this fine dining English-style steakhouse established in 1997, offers an experience that unfolds slowly, from a puzzling entrance to a surprisingly polished dining room... and ultimately to some of the best food I've had in Middle Georgia. ARRIVAL + FIRST IMPRESSIONS Because Downtown Macon was buzzing on this particular Saturday night, my husband and I ended up parking a couple of blocks away and taking the alley the GPS insisted was our route. Let's just say the alley definitely had "first date horror movie" vibes--but the beautifully framed photos lining the walls helped cut the sketch factor a bit. Once inside, we were greeted by a friendly, outgoing staff... and immediately greeted by something else: the cigar smoke. Downtown Grill has a full bar with an impressive oak humidor and a selection of bourbons, wines, and scotches that could easily impress the most seasoned connoisseur. But that also means the bar area is smoky--very smoky. I actually questioned whether we'd wandered into the wrong place until the hostess whisked us to the back dining room, where the ambiance shifted entirely. The dining room is intimate, classic, and much more aligned with "fine dining." Cozy booths, dim lighting, soft background music, truly an escape. And once seated, I didn't smell the cigar smoke at all. Bonus points for the restrooms using cloth napkins for hand-drying, an eco-friendly and elegant touch. We had noted on our reservation that it was our anniversary, but there was no acknowledgment. Not a deal breaker, but definitely unexpected for a fine dining restaurant, especially one that's been around this long. Our server was polished, professional, and consistently attentive. No complaints there. I started with the Elderflower Refresher and my husband with an Old Fashioned, both solid. But the star of the cocktail lineup? The Lavender Margarita. An absolute hit and something I'd go back for alone. For an appetizer, we ordered the Lump Crab Cakes. As a Maryland native, my standards are sky-high. These weren't "lump" crab cakes, but for Middle Georgia they were acceptable. They were flavorful, well-seasoned, and paired perfectly with the aioli drizzled on top. Then came the French Onion Soup. I'd seen the rave reviews and they were absolutely justified, easily the best I've had in years. Rich, savory, cheesy perfection. We both opted for the special of the night, the Salmon. My husband's came with mashed potatoes and green beans. I chose broccoli and green beans. The verdict? 5 out of 5. The salmon was cooked with precision--flaky, flavorful, expertly seasoned. The veggies were fresh, vibrant, and seasoned beautifully. Truly, this was the best meal I've had in Middle Georgia, hands down. Downtown Grill may not be where I'd choose to celebrate a milestone (the lack of acknowledgment and smoky entrance made sure of that), but it is where I'll go when I want a reliably excellent, well-executed meal. The kitchen is clearly the star of the show, and they delivered an unforgettable dining experience. We'll absolutely be back, maybe not for the anniversary, but definitely for that food.
