    Fried Crab Claws
    Lauren L.

I went for lunch. The crab claws were fried perfectly and was delicious. I wish they had a grilled option. The oysters had potential, but were veey gritty. I was surprised by how flavorful the soup was. The tacos were alright, but the black beans were hard. I'm interested in trying other items on the menu.

In town for a show and ate at Kudzu tonight. Excellent as before. Clean well lite establishment. Friendly service. We had the Jam pups as an appetizer. These are great. Full of flavor and just delicious. I had the Capt Lee combo basket with dirty rice. My wife had the Perdido Key Pasta with shrimp. Both dishes were spot on and very, very good. Highly recommend!

Visiting Macon because my Son was wrestling in the State competition. We wandered here and the food was yummy. The waiter was nice and suggested the Snapper meal to me. When I told him I don't eat pork (the sauce was a Tasso cream) he suggested we replace the Tasso cream with Lobster cream sauce. It was delicious. My boys enjoyed their food as well.

Great gulf food in GA Service and food were excellent! The gumbo was just right. Not too salty. Lots of shrimp and andouille sausage. The crawfish boudin balls could be a meal itself. Cooked to perfection and chock full of crawfish. The sauce I paid extra for instead of the remoulade was drinkable and made the dish amazing. The fried shrimp were juicy and tasty. I highly recommend this on your next visit to Macon.

My family & I stopped by Kudzu Seafood Company in Macon over the weekend for a late lunch. It was a first time visit for us. Stephanie was our waitress & she was nice & helpful. I enjoyed my meal. I ordered the Seafood Basket (fried grouper, shrimp, & oysters. I wanted catfish but they were out) with a side of creamed spinach. The grouper, shrimp, & oysters were cooked to perfection & everything tasted fresh & delicious. The creamed spinach was decent and there was a random broccoli stem in it. The restaurant was cold inside to me. The decor, for the side we sat on, was okay. Parking was pretty good. It's street parking & you pay for the time you think you'll be there. Parking was very reasonably priced. What I did NOT like (nor did I know at the time) is that they charge a 2% surcharge for using your credit card. Not sure if this is listed on the menu but I did not see it. For my meal it was only half a dollar but it could be more depending on your order. You're also taxed on the surcharge. So if you have cash, use it. I had planned to use cash but thought the card would be quicker. I also like to have an even total on my bill, with tip added, & this extra charge threw off the total on my bill. When I signed the receipt, it was an even $34.00. The receipt I received via email said something different. Just an FYI.

Went in with a friend just before 8pm on a Thursday night. Got seated promptly , server said she'd be with us. But then waited almost 25mins for service. So much so the hostess came and asked if we'd ordered or wanted drinks! We were about to walk out when the server appeared.! Limited options as we noticed most places close at 9. We got our order in and it seemed with minutes food and drinks were out. The sausage was interesting and tasted good. Very good po boy, with huge shrimp. Great sandwich.

    Shrimp and lobster bisque. Mmmm!

Great server, helpful suggestions. Overall great experience. I ended up getting three dishes with shrimp. Guess that's what I was craving! Lobster and shrimp bisque was very good! Buffalo shrimp was just ok. Good portions. But I was also saving room for shrimp and grits. A must when in Georgia. It was good, but only negative was that the shrimp were not cleaned. I've never had to clean them out myself at the table. It might be a personal preference but it's rare to me to get a shrimp dish where the shrimp are not cleaned. I know, I'm not going to die eating shrimp poop, but I'm not interested. If I was in town another day, I would not hesitate to return. Great looking menu.

I have been here thee times and it never fails to impress. The service is always prompt and courteous. The oysters are phenomenal. I like the ones with Pimento the best. The fried Boudin balls rock. Depending on my mood I either get the poboy fried or grilled. The grilled is definitely a bit spicier. Cheese grits are the best side with fries a close second. The local beers on tap are always delicious.

Spent the night in Macon on our way to Florida. Macon's downtown area is all lit up in lights after Thanksgiving. Anyway went to Kudzu Seafood and it was some of the best seafood we have ever had. We started with oysters Bienville (came with a grilled lemon to squeeze on them and horseradish, yum) and then shared the Pappas fried combination platter. It came with fried grouper fingers, fried oysters and fried shrimp. You get 2 sides we opted to upgrade to lobster bisque and gumbo. Everything was excellent. Service was outstanding.

Fried catfish and well seasoned fries!

I finally made it to this seafood paradise in downtown Macon, Ga. I'm praying it is doing well and will continue for many years! At first I thought the service was awful because there were not many people at the bar and bar area and I waited 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged me after I was seated. In fact a person who arrived a minute or so after me was acknowledged first and asked for a drink order. Perhaps it's because he was sitting at the bar. But when the bartender finally came to me the service was on point. The food - wow! Well cooked and seasoned and that was just lunch. I basically had fish and chips for lunch and that fried catfish and seasoned fries plus the sauces hit the SPOT! I left full and will be coming back. The price point is very affordable and the menu is outstanding. There are so many options for entrees and appetizers! Ambiance is spot on - clean, well-lit environment. This is a must go place to dine.

My family chose to have a dinner here and they were able to accommodate our large party. There was some confusion at first about where we could be seated, but they figured it out and things went smoothly from there. We all ordered so many different items and everyone enjoyed their food. I had the shrimp and grits which were delectable and my drink was tasty too. The prices were also very reasonable and affordable. I would definitely try this restaurant again.

We have family in town & decided to check out the downtown lights. We came in around 8:40pm with a party of 8 and were seated within 10 minutes!! They even sat us in area so my mom wouldn't be far from her scooter (thank you so much). Our sever Lee'Ann was very sweet & informative. Our food came quickly and was hot. this was an amazing first experience at this restaurant. We will definitely return. The catfish was Amazing!!

    Grouper Finger Poboy

This place is cute inside and has a great menu. I wouldn't have rated so low but I ordered the grouper po boy and it's honestly gotta be a joke. With the amount of bread and toppings I would have expected at least 4 pieces of fish. See picture for reference. I really wish it would have had more fish so that I could have enjoyed my entire sandwich and not just four bites.

The spinach dip was so good, the waitress was so accommodating and nice and appeared to give honest feedback when asked about her dish preferences. By far the star of the show was the red snapper. I was scared it would be dry but boy was I wrong!!! It was seasoned to perfection and so hot and delicious...can't believe I almost passed on it. Located in Downtown Macon, parking is available via street parking. Finding a close spot on the weekend is like winning the Mega Million, possible, but don't count on it. We lucked up on this night and found a spot directly across from the restaurant. As we made our way to the entrance, we were unexpectedly greeted by a woman passionately yelling obscenities at us. Nothing like a little downtown ambiance to set the mood. Thankfully, the heavy police presence on every corner made me feel safe enough to proceed to the restaurant. Once inside, the chaos faded instantly. We were welcomed by a gregarious and friendly staff, informed them of our reservation, and were seated immediately. On this particular Saturday, they weren't overly busy, so we even had the luxury of choosing which booth best suited our comfort level. The atmosphere is intimate and upscale without being stuffy. Think dim lighting, elegant music, exposed ceilings, and décor that says "rustic charm" but also "yes, this entrée will cost more than $30." Our waiter was professional, attentive, and genuinely pleasant, the kind of service that makes you relax and stop checking the time. We started with cocktails: I ordered the strawberry lemon drop martini, and my husband opted for an old fashioned. Both were well-crafted, smooth, and strong enough to make us forget about the crazy lady outside. For appetizers, we each ordered the crab cake. You get one small crab cake, but it was tasty and respectable by Middle Georgia standards. Entrées are à la carte, so order accordingly. I ordered the Chilean sea bass with Brussels sprouts and spinach, while my husband chose the salmon with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Both fish dishes were cooked perfectly and tasted fresh, with sauces that paired beautifully. The Brussels sprouts were crispy, flavorful, and addictive. My husband said his mashed potatoes were possibly the creamiest he's ever had. All of the food was outstanding. Dessert options include their 3rd & Cherry cobbler, cheesecake, and crème brûlée. Heads up: desserts are made to order and take about 20 minutes. Translation, order dessert early unless you're prepared to sit there long enough to contemplate life choices. The restaurant and restrooms were clean, which always earns bonus points. Overall, we had a lovely experience at 3rd & Cherry. It's an excellent choice for a special occasion, date night, or anytime you want to feel a little fancy without leaving Middle Georgia. We'll definitely be back.

Tucked away in an unsuspecting corner of Downtown Macon, this fine dining English-style steakhouse established in 1997, offers an experience that unfolds slowly, from a puzzling entrance to a surprisingly polished dining room... and ultimately to some of the best food I've had in Middle Georgia. ARRIVAL + FIRST IMPRESSIONS Because Downtown Macon was buzzing on this particular Saturday night, my husband and I ended up parking a couple of blocks away and taking the alley the GPS insisted was our route. Let's just say the alley definitely had "first date horror movie" vibes--but the beautifully framed photos lining the walls helped cut the sketch factor a bit. Once inside, we were greeted by a friendly, outgoing staff... and immediately greeted by something else: the cigar smoke. Downtown Grill has a full bar with an impressive oak humidor and a selection of bourbons, wines, and scotches that could easily impress the most seasoned connoisseur. But that also means the bar area is smoky--very smoky. I actually questioned whether we'd wandered into the wrong place until the hostess whisked us to the back dining room, where the ambiance shifted entirely. The dining room is intimate, classic, and much more aligned with "fine dining." Cozy booths, dim lighting, soft background music, truly an escape. And once seated, I didn't smell the cigar smoke at all. Bonus points for the restrooms using cloth napkins for hand-drying, an eco-friendly and elegant touch. We had noted on our reservation that it was our anniversary, but there was no acknowledgment. Not a deal breaker, but definitely unexpected for a fine dining restaurant, especially one that's been around this long. Our server was polished, professional, and consistently attentive. No complaints there. I started with the Elderflower Refresher and my husband with an Old Fashioned, both solid. But the star of the cocktail lineup? The Lavender Margarita. An absolute hit and something I'd go back for alone. For an appetizer, we ordered the Lump Crab Cakes. As a Maryland native, my standards are sky-high. These weren't "lump" crab cakes, but for Middle Georgia they were acceptable. They were flavorful, well-seasoned, and paired perfectly with the aioli drizzled on top. Then came the French Onion Soup. I'd seen the rave reviews and they were absolutely justified, easily the best I've had in years. Rich, savory, cheesy perfection. We both opted for the special of the night, the Salmon. My husband's came with mashed potatoes and green beans. I chose broccoli and green beans. The verdict? 5 out of 5. The salmon was cooked with precision--flaky, flavorful, expertly seasoned. The veggies were fresh, vibrant, and seasoned beautifully. Truly, this was the best meal I've had in Middle Georgia, hands down. Downtown Grill may not be where I'd choose to celebrate a milestone (the lack of acknowledgment and smoky entrance made sure of that), but it is where I'll go when I want a reliably excellent, well-executed meal. The kitchen is clearly the star of the show, and they delivered an unforgettable dining experience. We'll absolutely be back, maybe not for the anniversary, but definitely for that food.
