Had another lunch date with my cousin and I wanted to treat her as I initially told her that's how it was going down but she ended up treating me and sending a carry out lunch to my sis. We visited Bonefish Grill to honor the third year of our mother's passing, as my brother and I choose a place each year we believe she would have loved--and this one was perfect. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff truly went above and beyond. Our server (I wish I could remember his name) was phenomenal, and the manager personally checked in, which we greatly appreciated. We started with the truffle fries--delicious, though they could have used just a touch more truffle seasoning. For drinks, we enjoyed the mule and the "No-jito," both of which were refreshing and well-balanced. For entrees, I had the blackened shrimp and scallops with rice and seasonal vegetables, which were cooked perfectly. My brother ordered the chicken Caesar salad, which came in a generous portion and was equally delicious. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I know our mom would have loved it too. I have been here at the bar for an hour and 30 minutes. Someone left the bar and hour ago and their plate with their half eaten food is still here!!! Its absolutely disgusting . Also the bartenders takes about 15 minutes to acknowledge you and they forget your order. I had to remind the bartender after 20 minutes that she didn't give me my water. I can't remember our bar server's name. I want to say Lindsay (started with an L) but I can't remember. She was fantastic and had a great personality and made our evening enjoyable. It's been a few weeks that we went and I'm just posting my review. She made a really great pomegranate martini. It was like drinking a jolly rancher. Just enough sweetness and she knew how to make a good old fashioned. She made our evening enjoyable and we sat there enjoying our time before ordering dinner. It was after 9 before we actually placed our dinner. I ordered the steak and shrimp and he ordered the trout. Both had good flavor but unfortunately the fish was very overcooked and dry and my steak was well done instead of medium. The shrimp was tasty but a little on the smaller side. If you put "large or jumbo shrimp" I guess I'm assuming they are going to be pretty decent in size. Our server felt bad and the manager came over and apologized and we told her it was our fault for ordering so late. She did take a little off our bill even though that was not necessary. The atmosphere is great. There was Christmas music playing just loud enough that you could actually have a conversation and engage. Have dined at Bonefish many times in Birmingham and have always been pleased. Was excited to see one close tonight while traveling. I hate to complain but felt the need to share my experience tonight in hopes of helping others avoid a disappointing experience. Bang Bang Shrimp was great and came out quickly. However, everything else moved at a snails pace. Not sure what is going on with service and management at this location. Took forever to get my glass of wine. Finally asked the waiter and discovered it had been sitting at the bar already poured for a while. Wanted to order second glass but watched waiter struggling with computer for at least 10 minutes. Finally got chance to request second glass of wine. Gave up on asking for entree so requested dessert menu. Never got a dessert menu. Waiter disappeared for at least 15 minutes. Asked for check as soon as I saw him again. The place had many open tables and was not busy at all. I watched what appeared to be the Manager/Chef/Person in charge sitting at a high top, scrolling on his cellphone almost the whole time I was there. Corporate needs to check on this location. Invited by a coworker after a day's training. It was social hour Monday. It was around 4pm. The food was delicious. The wonton didn't look as expected, but we're very tasty. Not sure if it's on the the drink menu, but most bonefish grills can usually make one. It was cold and refreshing. We also ordered the fried pumpkin ravioli which was garnished feta cheese, pepitos, green onions served with a tangy lemon vinaigrette. It was an usual combination, but it worked really well together. It was beautifully plated and tasted really good, but it was served warm. For our main entree, we opted for the 3 course meal which was served with a share salad, two entrees and one shared dessert. We also added two cups of crab and corn chowder which we both thoroughly enjoyed. The two entrees we selected was the grilled Mahi Mahi, added the limb carb, asparagus with lemon butter sauce and the clams and linguine with extra lemon butter sauce. Both entrees were served hot and delicious. The grilled Mahi Mahi was the favorite of the two, fish was light and flaky and cooked to perfection You are able to select two sides with the entrees except for the pasta entree. The clam and linguine entree was plentiful and there was enough for lunch tomorrow. The special generally comes with a key lime cake but they were out of it and we were given two other options. We always enjoyed the cozy chic ambiance and the top-notch customer service. The service is outstanding as usual but the food at this location in Macon is far better than the one in Atlanta. It is hard to tell they are the same restaurant. We have only dined at the bar thus far, my go-to drink is the French 75, and my husband always orders the smoked old-fashioned. The staff is friendly, the bartenders are personable and professional. They have a social hour from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm daily, offering great deals on drinks and appetizers. My favorite appetizers are the Bang Bang Shrimp and the Calamari. All of their seafood at this location taste fresh and is always prepared properly at the appropriate temperature. I've tried all of their seafood, but my personal favorites are the Chilean Seabass topped with Lemon Caper Butter, the Old-Fashioned Cedar Plank Salmon, and the Cod. You can add an Imperial, Lily's or Oscar topping for an additional fee to any of the fish. I include the vegetable of the day with each meal which is always fresh. The Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts is a tasty side dish that I add to most of my meals as well. On Friday this server gave me horrible service. I come here every week and sometime 2x a week. I came on Friday alone as normal and I ordered mango bourbons I always do. The drink came and it didn't taste the way it normally taste. I noticed the other bartender was making the same drink but it looked different. I asked her for the regular margaritas off the happy hour menu bc this did not taste as normal she said no bc happy hour was over. Which it was a few min past 6:30. Keep in mind I wanted on the bourbon after I ordered it. She began to be rude I told her I just wanted water then. The customers next to me witnessed what happen and they had the other bartender to make me a drink and they paid for it bc they witnessed how rude this bartender was. Although our server was training, she did a great job bringing over waters and complimentary bread after taking our order. The calamari was okay, just a little greasy, and needed a sprinkle of salt. I ordered the blackened fish tacos. They were pretty good, just needed more seasoning. My mom really enjoyed the medium rare steak and the crab cake with no complaints. The coleslaw was exceptional and was the only redeeming item. I was served my plate with no silverware/napkin, water, salt or pepper and an empty cocktail glass. Seriously. Let me begin by saying that I love the food here. The problem is that in the town where I live they don't know how to cook fish/seafood. I've been a customer at our local Bonefish restaurant since they opened. The manager lived next door to my elderly mother and his family was much loved in their neighborhood. Then he was promoted and moved to FL. It's been lousy ever since. Not excellent service like before. The food has steadily gone downhill. I've had to send my fish back 3 times to get it cooked right. They overcook everything. Now, if you like welldone fish this is your place. However we went last week and everything was so overcooked we sent almost everything back. They didn't offer to fix it. They just said they would take it off our bill. I've never had calimari that bad. My husband doesn't want to go back. He says "I can't believe a seafood place would serve food that bad." The service is never very good. The servers disappear for long periods of time. You ask where they are and other servers say they don't know. The signature dish "bang bang shrimp" now isn't shelled. Crunching into those shells and having to pick them out of your mouth is awful. I wish things were as great as they were when they opened. The new happy hour has brought some people in. We made reservations for one of the signature 4 course dinners for our anniversary- it was terrible. We won't do that again. read more
