First time experience! I got the cheeseburger. It was really good. It was juicy and not dry. Now let me say this. I do not care for home fries point, blank, period! Just not a preference and never good when I've eaten them in the past. These were actually pretty good the few I ate but I think I would have liked them more had they been hot not lukewarm. FIRST TIME visiting, and will be the LAST. Ordered two of the pick two combinations. I asked the associate how many pieces of fish will come with it if I ordered fish and shrimp. She stated two to three pieces, all depends on the size of the fish. When I got home I had only one piece of small fish (Catfish fillet and tilapia) in each plate with five shrimp. I spent $46.00 for this. It did not even have a taste to it. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO NO ONE!!!! Only reason I gave them one star was because I had to mark one. read more

I got the Buffalo shrimp, fried pickles and fried green tomatoes for appy. Omg their batter for frying is spot on. Not a ton of grease still a lot of flavor in the actual food they fry. F iced green tomatoes I smothered in their special sauce. Absolutely lovely. They were so tender and fried to absolute perfection. The fileted catfish for dinner was RIDICULOUS. The homeade tarter sauce had the perfect amount of vinegar and relish ratio I could have drank it. Seriously if you're in town for any reason this is your spot. Don't go to any chain crappy crap spots that surround this place. RUN DONT WALK. The waitress who makes the tarter sauce herself was a gem. She brought us an order of hush puppies to the table since I'm a Yank I had no idea what to expect with my first hush puppy and my goodness I'm forever changed. Three filet mignon ordered as a special out of a party of five. Two of the party received nice baseball cut tender filets. I received a piece of rubbish, not a filet. Full of gristle. Flat, bad even if it was sirloin. Sent it back and Steve cooked another one just as bad but this time it was over done. Medium well to well done when the order was for medium. we stumbled upon here as it is right across the street from our hotel (courtyard marriott), didn't expect much out of as there are very limited reviews on yelp, however, it was actually quite good for a diner the appetizers are all very good, deep fried, but not too greasy the seafood platter has huge portions, none of us could finish, and it's not those big dishes that is only good in portion but lacks in its quality, this place has both huge portions and carefully crafted quality food, and the price is superb too will definitely come back for me if we are back in Macon again. read more

My husband took me last night for date night and it was great! I had the best grilled grouper I've had in a long time. The service is always good and the food is very tasty. I go to lunch there occasionally with friends but I had never been on Friday night. We had to wait a little while to get seated but we didn't mind. It was worth the wait. @ Steve S. - it's funny you say the food and service was bad when you didn't even eat. Due to Covid guidelines, customers are required to sign in and wait in their vehicles. There are signs posted on the door that states the guidelines in place. You don't know who signed in before you and waited in their vehicles to be called in. Customers aren't allowed to wait inside due to the same guidelines. The owner showed you the list but you still seemed disturbed. I was at the front door and witnessed everything. I'm sorry you had a bad experience but we are in the middle of a pandemic and there are rules that have to be followed. If you want a steak and you're trying to decide whether to go here or to the chain steakhouse next door, go to the chain. It'll be cheaper and better. Have enjoyed the fried and grilled shrimp I've gotten to go several times. However, I tried the Savannah grilled shrimp salad recently. Had 5 grilled shrimp on iceberg lettuce. While the shrimp were fresh tasting, the quantity paled. if I'd ordered a grilled shrimp special from the lunch menu, you usually get a minimum of 6 shrimp but more like 8. No black olives, three wedges of under ripe tomatoes and a few slivers of red onion. Disappointed in quantity and contents of the salad! Will stick to lunch special of shrimp basket. read more

Now this place ought to be ashamed at how well they are at giving you the biggest portions in meats they have. They are plenty of seafood choices from oysters to catfish. They also do random specials and such like t bones and Phillies. They have a sports theme environment with several mounted flats throughout and for the size of the space they have plenty of seating and they have a small list of appetizers that all can be shared. We only live a few miles away but hadn't tried Steve's until last night. We were pleased with the service and atmosphere. The staff were all very friendly. We started with the potato boats for an appetizer. The appetizer contained 6 pretty good sized potato logs with melted cheese, sprinkled with bacon. Convenience packages of sour cream were served on the side. We decided to go all out and I ordered the seafood platter and my husband had the sirloin with baked potato and salad. The steak was cooked a perfect medium and tasted like we had grilled it ourselves. The baked potato had been cooked a little too long and was dry, but it was fine once the butter and sour cream were added. I was very pleased with the seafood platter, especially the fried oysters and shrimp. They were prepared perfectly and just melted in your mouth. The catfish was also delicious. I chose cole slaw and french fries as my sides and they were also really good. Their cole slaw was the way that I like it - shredded cabbage, onions, mayo and maybe a dash of a little sweetness. I don't care for carrots in my cole slaw, so this was a bonus for me. My only issue with my dinner was that the particular piece of tilapia that I received really tasted "dirty" and I only ate a few bites of it. I think that is just the way tilapia tastes sometimes though? The portion sizes were large enough that we were able to take enough home for another meal each. No all you can eat catfish anymore. Slow service. Bad service. Small portions. Won't be back... First time here. My wife ordered fried oysters. Specifically said she wanted small ones. They were huge greasy when she got them. The waitress showed us where she wrote small... And someone in the kitchen had crossed it out and they never said a thing. Needless to say, my wife didn't eat them. The waitress had to text someone to see if they could be removed from the bill as no one on site could make that decision. They never texted back, so we had to pay for it at $16.95 My chicken salad had a few pieces of chicken, four pieces of tomatoes a few olives, two red onion rings and the rest all salad for $9.95. Waited 15 minutes to see if they would ask if I wanted another beer... Needless to say, I went home without another (I always wait to see how long it takes them when I finish one rather than ask as it's something someone paying attention should do). I'm gonna spread the word on this place. We use to love Pollys.. So finally tried this place as it was recommended. I'm gonna smack the person that recommended it. read more

Great fried shrimp. Catfish is also excellent. Was not impressed with my grilled shrimp salad however, barely any shrimp for the price. Salad also had barely any toppings (I think just a few pieces of tomato and red onion). Ranch tasted store bought to me. Fried green tomatoes were cut too thick and the dipping sauce was just straight up hot sauce - I almost burned my throat! I go back for the fried shrimp & catfish, but not for anything else really. We frequented this place a lot. However tonight the food was horrible. The shrimp and veggies were over seasoned with lemon to the point it tasted like I picked up a lemon and started eating it. I had the fried green tomatoes and salmon platter with the baked potato and salad with raspberry vinaigrette. The fried green tomatoes were dripping in grease with very little seasoning. The salmon needed seasoning as well. The raspberry vinaigrette was more of a russian dressing and the salad was tasteless iceberg. The baked potato was good and the waitress was superb as she had to wait on 13 of us. The employees are very nice and the atmosphere was fine. The food could be better. read more
