After years of decreasing quality of experience at a local Kroger, I was finally forced to walk out today, leaving a full cart order to cancel. I have come to expect a lack of staffed cashier lines (reminiscent of lesser grocery opportunities in town), and frequently out-of-inventory items (especially items which you have tempted me to purchase with coupons). However, today I struggled to even obtain service. After doing my best to complete my shopping list, again with missing inventory items, I walked to the deli for chicken. I am the only customer at the deli area (including sandwiches, salads, desserts, etc.). There were four workers doing things behind the counter. After a few moments, one offered that he would be with me in a minute. I walked away after 2 minutes of watching the 4 people do other tasks. I know everyone is busy, I get busy at work myself, but that behavior is completely unacceptable on my team. After giving up on getting chicken for dinner I went to check out. Aside from th10-15 items or less lane, only one cashier lane was lit, and it had 3 full waiting buggies. I selected self-checkout. I zipped through all of my items (buggy full, total was about $140). The last thing I had was five (5) twelve (12) packs of Power-aid. I had a rain check for these because, well, you know. Luckily there were 5 left in the store...exactly 5. I spent the next 10+ minutes working with the lady to ring up those and handle the price override. The order had to be transferred to her station. When she attempted to scan my coupons afterwards, her machine would not work. She called to another line for assistance and that lady came down after finishing up her existing customer. She verified the machine scanner was not working and moved my order to her station. As I got over there, she was scanning my coupons and I attempted to make sense of the Power-aid entries----about 32-34 lines showing Power-aid (original price, discount, remove original price, add back discount, price override). It seemed a few entries had been double voided and perhaps some added incorrectly. I spent some time trying to make sense of that from the receipt and it seemed everyone around (3 workers at this time) might be getting irritated. I was being informed "yes, there it is, you had 6 right, you see the...", I said no, I had 5. Then I realize I have been in checkout, without my chicken dinner, for over 20 minutes. It had started heavily raining in the last 3 minutes. Now I would need to walk out in the monsoon, without my chicken dinner, having my frozen items now defrosting for over 20 minutes before even making it to the car, and wondering if I had overpaid for my Power-aid....of course that assumed I could complete the purchase in a timely fashion. It was here I gave up and asked to just void the sale and I wanted to speak to a store manager. It went downhill from that point. I dropped by customer service and asked if the store manager was available. The lady did ask if she could help me, but I said no, I needed to complain. After a bit a person (Jamie Parks) did come down to talk. I explained all of the issues to him. At that point I suggested I would like to just file a complaint with the regional/district manager---I felt it important. Jamie said that the store manager was in and I could speak to him. Then it hit me, I had already asked for the store manager, yet here I was talking to Jamie. Obviously my request was about as useful as my trying to obtain service at the deli. Here I figured I would never get the contact for the regional/district manager and Jamie did not disappoint. All I was able to obtain is that I could call the Kroger on Hartley Bridge and that is where I would find that person. Really Kroger? You can do better than this..... read more

They tried to be like whole foods and just became a whole mess. This is what you get when you hire idiots to do design. That court is more like probate court. Does anyone really buy items here that's not food? They had the pots and pans for a premium that are basically overpriced. If I want to pay good money, I'll go to a regular store that sells pots and pans or order them online. So many crazy people who haven't a clue working there. Last time I was there, the lines were long and someone cut themselves and there was blood on the floor. The worker rather than steering people away was annoyed at people complaining about not wanting to step on the blood on the floor. Got to love their mix and match beer by the can--not. This is just old cans of beer that didn't sell. This is the same building but with more mess and less quality. It's congested to get in, congested to get out and as far as I'm concerned, a total waste of space. It should go the way of the K Mart that used to be on the other end of this shopping center. read more

I want to highlight Ms. BJ in the floral department for making my experience a great one. I walked in feeling kind of down due to the nature of seeking for a beautiful floral arrangement for a very ill family member. Getting the perfect arrangement was important. It was emotional visit. Went into Kroger/north ave/east side at 10:40 PM just to grab a couple things. I was standing to the side of self check out at 10:48 checking my balance in my accounts to see which card I wanted to use when the cashier kept yelling sir , sir start scanning.. I don't know why you people wait till the last five minutes to do your shopping over and over she said this about the last five minutes to everyone that was in the store, very loud and obnoxious. I had paid and was out the door by 10:50 PM. And she muttered more insults under her breath as I walked past her. Are you open till 11 or not? I've got in my car written this review and I will post it before 11:00 pm. I was not even in the store the last five minutes they were open. Sick and tired of having to walk through the parking lot in the weather trying to find a shopping cart. Never enough cashiers open during busy times. Employees always clogging all the aisles no matter what time of day it is. Often see refrigerated items sitting out on shelves which makes me suspicious of all the cold items. read more

I went to Kroger on Tom Hill Sr. Blvd today and purchased some prepackaged individual Apple Walnut and Chicken Cesar Salads. when I checked out I noticed warning to check for recall notices. the salads I had just purchased were on the recall list for Listeria Monocytogenes. I was really concerned about why the items were in the salad refr if they were on the recall list. What if someone purchased these items and didn't see the recall warning and eat the salads and got sick or worse I went to customer service and the lady told me they would refund my money and the salads shouldn't be in the counter to be sold. I requested a manager and inquired why the salads were being sold it on a recall list. I followed the manager to the salad area and she instructed an employee to have the salads removed. the employee told her his produce manager had instructed him to place the salads in the counter for sale. Whoa! Something is seriously wrong! Why is Kroger trying to sell items that are on a recall list. is this the norm for all Kroger stores or just this store? Also, try finding a shopping cart in this store? you need to bring a cart in from the parking lot! I shop at other Kroger stores and t there are carts available when you enter the store. Piss poor management at this store. Kroger Management needs to investigate this store. read more

The front end manager Nicole has a bad attitude. The Wic items that they sell are always out of stock. The store manager on duty does not like to solve problems with his/ her store. I would rather shop at Publix before I spend another dime at this location. Some of the staff is unprofessional and need to work with a Circus instead of a grocery store. Too many clowns running around not doing their jobs. Let's see if the store manager call me back. Probably not. This store need to be closed and reopened as a Publix instead of Kroger. The service at this location is horrible. I would not recommend anyone to keep shopping at this location on Tom Hill Sr Blvd. This is absolutely an awful store and the store manager need to be replaced. The food for the most part is ok - produce can be iffy. The store is to crowded to not have registers open - although most of the staff is nice it can still get testy with so many people. There are also many days when ALL the buggies are still in the parking lot and NO ONE is making a move to get them. Good location, easy parking, and fast checkout. Now the bad, the staff is not very friendly, the takeout cooked food was not suitable for digestion, the shelves looked empty, but the product was in the back of the shelf, and I had to climb a shelf to get a box of spaghetti. Shopping experience at this Kroger has DEFINITELY gone down hill. Always long lines..even for the self checkout lanes. They cram so much crap in the aisles that two shopping carts can't even pass by. And don't even get me started in pickup. They ALWAYS are behind and wait until the last minute to call and tell you your order is going to be 2 hours late! Perhaps they should lower the number of order slots for each time slot since they can't ever keep up and be on time. read more

Management of this store seems totally oblivious to crowded self service lines and the lack of staff on the registers. This store is using so many staff to fill orders for people for free that it does not have time to provide high quality service to the bulk of their in-store shoppers. It is not uncommon to see ten or more people backed up at the self service registers while the aisles are filled with their huge carts and staff picking grocery items. It would seem more appropriate that the orders for pickup would be performed during less busy times during the day. It is also not uncommon to go to the store and there not be any carts that are available. All are outside. Evidently the the staff is busy doing other tasks. The gas station is also poorly run. My experience is that at less 70% of the time there is no paper in the pump to provide a receipt to the customer. This means that the customer has to go over to the attendant's office to obtain an receipt , first standing in line behind behind all the other people that had to come over just because there was no paper in the register at the pump. read more

The manager David was rude and refused to help me. All I wanted was to reload my GreenDot card. For some reason, no one at this store seemed to know how to do that. He first told me that they don't do that at Kroger. Then he backpedaled and told me the machine wasn't working tonight. Then he asked me to come back in the morning because the morning staff was trained on how to do it. Meanwhile, I was at the store for over 35 minutes trying to get someone to help me. David never once brought me to a register to try to load my card. He had every excuse in his pocket to not work. Never was apologetic and was visibly irritated that I asked for the manager to help me in the first place. I regularly get my card reloaded at Kroger. This was ridiculous. (This is a review from someone on vacation from Florida...) We don't have any Kroger stores where I live. While on a road trip Northwards, I forgot to pack a few things and found myself here, just as they opened on a weekday. We have Publix and other great 5-star grocery stores in Florida, but I found this Kroger to be really excellent. Having some time to kill and for kicks, I made sure to also browse their bakery, deli, fresh meat and seafood counters. If you live near this store you are lucky. They have decent prices and some very unique offerings not often seen elsewhere. There are FAR worse grocery choices elsewhere, from GA down to FL. A very clean store with excellent service, if I lived near here I believe this would be the grocery store for me. read more

Awful, don't waste your time! Aisles are so narrow you can barely pass one person. Major traffic jams. Aisles so close to registers - there is no place for check out lines to form without blocking shoppers. Self checkout lines backed up - all registers not working, and only a couple of employee manned registers open. I went on Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend and wasted over an hour and a half picking up just a couple of items. Decided that was my fault and wouldn't do that again. Went twice since then on a regular week day and it was not much better. Last trip yesterday! I would rather pay higher prices than shop in this Kroger! read more

This review wouldn't have any stars if that was an option. I shop several times a week, one time a week at night around 8:30-9:00. I had a buggy full of groceries and there wasn't one cashier. I had to check out myself. I'm with the one reviewer that said that their money is just as good as the people who shop during the day. I should be given the same courtesy of having a cashier. I couldn't even find a manager or anyone to complain. Nobody was at the front desk. I find this store to be poorly managed. I don't think it would of done any good to complain anyway it seems like most of the people who work there have a I do not care attitude. This store seems to be going downhill steadily. The customer service was so not good yesterday. A 18 yr old that works there called me a B$%#@ in front of the whole store and in front of her manager and the entire front part of the store. She said it over and over. I am 44 and have never been talked to like that before "especially from a child." I spoke with the manager. She was really nice and so was the store manager. I called corporate but still. Who are the hiring? I understand young kids have a lot of emotion and can be really rude but even when the manager asked her who she was talking to; she repeated the B word again. Everyone in the store was like "what????" Her name was Paris. The only reason I remember is because she kept saying "My name is Paris, and if you upset, I get off at 10 and we can handle this!" It wasn't even a argument for her to act like that. I simply told her she gave me $8 back instead of the $9 that I requested on my cash back. I was simply getting money off to put into a couple of Easter eggs and this is what happened "on Easter." I hope and pray this young girl finds Jesus. read more

My big complaint about this Kroger concerns what goes on at night. Instead of paying their employees to work the registers, this Kroger expects customers to check themselves out after about 10pm. Late night is my only opportunity to get some grocery shopping done. I usually buy $200 worth of groceries at a time, including a lot of produce, and it takes me FOREVER to check myself out. Those of us who purchase our groceries at night don't pay any less for them than those who do their shopping during the day. Therefore, we're entitled to the same services, including a checker who can get us out the door in less than 15 minutes (which is how long it usually takes me to check myself out). I wish there was another option in a safe part of Macon for late night shoppers, but unfortunately there's not. I also wish Kroger would give more employees the opportunity to work a late shift. I'm sure they'd appreciate the extra income, and the customers would definitely appreciate the extra service. read more

I will never return to this location! Was in there last week a little before midnight .. theres a black gentleman whos best described as (don't hate me it's all i got) quazi moto -ish ... I am happily checking out and the self chrxkout thing got mad at me "staff will be there to assist you" or whatever it says .. i have to wait 5 mins for him to appear out of some place ... And i didn't have much to say to him cuz i was quite annoyed with his non caring, slow moving attitude.. and as he is walking away back over to his little white coworker with a beard .. he calls me a "FAGGOT'" and they both laugh .. and turn around and ask .."EXCUSE ME?". AND say nevermind and left what had added up to $120 in food there and drove over to Walmart... And had to take the time to repeat the shopping trip over .. i was beyond words ! If it were a coworker .. he would be fired immediately ... I contacted the manager but i bet nothing comes of it... Ok so now that construction is done I must say I love the new look. It is very up to date and with the additions they have made ways to decrease the traffic and the parking availability with two doorways in and out, you are bound to get a good park. The products have seemed to get a major enhancement as well or at least the prime meats, cheeses, and veggies. More home decor with pots and pans and everyday house hold ware.
