My mom and I both ordered blackened fish, my moms mistakenly came out fried, our server corrected immediately and let us keep the fried variety so we got to try that too! There was live music, it was a beautiful summer evening on the water. There's a lot of negative reviews but I'm so glad we tried for ourselves. I haven't been here in probably nearly a decade now. But the food is just as good as I remember! I got the catfish filets blackened. For my sides I got the cheese grits and collard greens. Both were VERY good. My mom got the grouper and that was also VERY good! Dad got the fried shrimp which is a tried and true. We did arrive around 5:30 as the restaurant is popular. The parking lot was a bit intimidating because it was so crowded. There was a lot of people waiting to sit down. We were told 30-40 minutes but lucky for us it was faster! There is plenty of seating both indoor and out. The view of the water is great and calming. The atmosphere was happy and noisy, everyone enjoying the food. Our server was fast and attentive and had good suggestions. The food came out fast and fresh. The salad was a good serving with a lettuce mix. The fish, chicken tenders, and baked potato came out nice and hot! The smoked turkey salad was amazing! It had such a good smoked flavor and was served with crackers. The tilapia wasn't as crispy as I'd like but it was still very delicious! They serve a good variety of beer and cocktails as well as desserts. Overall this place is good! Went here for a weekend date night in a Saturday. We didn't have to wait to get sat, which was nice. Our server was nice and helpful. He recommended the gator (not pictured). The portions are good. Gator was good, scallops were good, okra was okay. Cheese grits were good. My fiancé got flounder and it was only okay. Service is pleasant to friendly. The wait time for food has never been bad, but we usually avoid going on the weekends. Family friendly and nice views of the lake. I think the food is decent but nothing great. The shrimp are hit and miss. Sometimes they're a nice size and fried well, other times they are very tiny and super chewy. Bbq is fine but sauced a little heavy. I most enjoy the boiled peanuts, hushpuppies and cheese grits. The coleslaw is a little too relish heavy/sour. The dressings are good (love the house) but the side salad itself is extremely sad and basic. The cheddar they use seems like it's the cheapest, most artificial cheese on the market paired with some sad tomatoes and bagged croutons. I stumbled across this place on a Saturday exploration and it was definitely an experience. They were hosting some sort of concert or event and was PACKED full of characters! I sat at the bar to eat and it was like dinner and a show. The bartenders handled the chaos admirably and the food was tasty. I came to this place a few weeks ago to have dinner and drinks with my two girlfriends. The food was descent but the real highlight of the evening was our super cute, pregnant waitress. She was full of energy and had a great personality. When my friend didn't like her coleslaw (bc they add vinegar to it) she replaced it with another side item with no problem. Our wait was only 20 min to get a table and the drinks were strong. For some descent fried seafood on the water, you should definitely try this place. Very disappointed in Fish n Pig tonight, have been going here since they opened in 2005 and it's normally good and service is normally good. But, ordered it to go, 3 plates for $80. Now this is the second time this has happened that they forgot food, they didn't get the salads correct, the hushpuppies were burnt and no sauce with one of the meals. A friend took me here for an early dinner. They opened at 4:30 and the lines formed long and quick! We took a seat in the bar and I ordered fried catfish, okra, and cheese grits. Even being raised in NC, this was by far the best fried catfish I've ever eaten! Thick, fluffy, and just the right amount of breading. There are also multiple outdoor decks looking over the water. If I could offer half a star I would. It has been several months since we last went to Fish n Pig on lake Tobosofkee. When we first started going several years ago, the food was good. We always enjoyed the cat fish and also liked the alligator. However, we've noticed a definite decline in quality of food and service. The LONG wait and high prices don't justify the quality at all! Had heard good things about the place, got there before they opened and there was a wait, did not have to wait but a few mins though. Waiter was super nice, sweet tea was amazing. I had fish and bbq, barbecue was pretty good. The fish was decent. I traveled about an hour to get there. If I was in the area again I might eat there, but I wouldn't travel just to go there. As a black man very respectfully and quietly (we were right behind him and could not hear what he was saying), tried to explain to Emma what was wrong with his order she proceeded to raise her voice and tell him he was yelling at her. If a man of color trying to have his order corrected is considered yelling; the restaurant and customer service business are not meant for you. I chose the low country boil , with an additional cup ( more like a bowl) of shrimp n corn chowder; and I was NOT disappointed! The chowder was full of a generous amount of small shrimp and 'veggies' and my boil had lots of softly boiled redskin potatoes, an ear of corn, lots of sausage chunks and THE most tasty, tender perfectly prepared shrimp I've ever had-and I eat out a LOT. It may have been the tasty butter and seasoning; but after reading the info on their shrimp, I feel it was simply the tasty,sweet natural shrimp of the area. The place was pretty full at 5:30pm Thursday and there seemed to be a steady stream of patrons ,at least until I left about 6:45.
