Blackened Grouper
Ashley E.

Run don't walk to eat the blackened grouper and / or catfish, hush puppies, squash casserole and coleslaw! The whole meal was incredible. My mom and I both ordered blackened fish, my moms mistakenly came out fried, our server corrected immediately and let us keep the fried variety so we got to try that too! There was live music, it was a beautiful summer evening on the water. There's a lot of negative reviews but I'm so glad we tried for ourselves. We loved it and will be back if we're ever back in the area.

Catfish filets blackened with cheese grits and collard greens

I haven't been here in probably nearly a decade now. But the food is just as good as I remember! I got the catfish filets blackened. For my sides I got the cheese grits and collard greens. Both were VERY good. My mom got the grouper and that was also VERY good! Dad got the fried shrimp which is a tried and true. We did arrive around 5:30 as the restaurant is popular. We were promptly seated and service was attentive and helpful! It was also nice to be able to see the lake from all tables. There's also a great outside section that we unfortunately didn't spend any time at, but it looked like a blast!

Brought my parents here for their first visit here. Great service. My sandwich was okay my dad loved his tacos. And everyone else liked their food. Can't wait to come back and try something else.

The parking lot was a bit intimidating because it was so crowded. There was a lot of people waiting to sit down. We were told 30-40 minutes but lucky for us it was faster! There is plenty of seating both indoor and out. The view of the water is great and calming. The atmosphere was happy and noisy, everyone enjoying the food. Our server was fast and attentive and had good suggestions. The food came out fast and fresh. The salad was a good serving with a lettuce mix. The fish, chicken tenders, and baked potato came out nice and hot! The smoked turkey salad was amazing! It had such a good smoked flavor and was served with crackers. The tilapia wasn't as crispy as I'd like but it was still very delicious! They serve a good variety of beer and cocktails as well as desserts. My eyes were bigger than my stomach so I was unable to try one. Great family atmosphere

Overall this place is good! Went here for a weekend date night in a Saturday. We didn't have to wait to get sat, which was nice. Our server was nice and helpful. He recommended the gator (not pictured). The portions are good. Gator was good, scallops were good, okra was okay. Cheese grits were good. My fiancé got flounder and it was only okay. Overall it was a good experience. We enjoyed it. Nothing extra special or crazy but if you like fried food I recommend it!

The food was good but the menu item we got was a little pricy and the description said it was a "generous portion" did not seem too generous. However, the views and live music were good and it wasn't too crowded for a Friday night we didn't have to wait for seating over looking the lake.

Today, I enjoyed an old favorite, Fresh Air Bar-B-Que. Located in the far corner of a strip mall, it's easy to miss; but, it's well worth keeping an eye out for. If your looking for ambiance, we'll, it's a rib place. You don't get that. You do get a clean, and friendly atmosphere, with great food. I chose the rib plate (what else would I choose), which featured a moist, fall off the bone tender, half pound of ribs, with just a taste of tangy, but optional, BBQ sauce, ( don't worry. If you want more sauce, it's there for you on the table in hot or mild varieties. If you must, And I don't see why you would, you can also add Texas Pete's hot sause, which is also there) small cups of appropriately modest flavored Brunswick stew (packed with delicious...uh...Brunswick stew stuff) and sweet, crispy, cole slaw. Add in a slice of thick sliced bread, to sop up the goodness; and, for $13.99, before tax and a well earned tip, you have, I repeat, a great, filling, meal. Want more evidence? My photo was taken mid-meal. The food was so tasty, I nearly forgot to snap photo.

The huge smiles on my coworkers faces when they see Fresh Air set up makes me happy!

It just opens the door, turns the lights on, and says, "You hungry or not?" It is designed for food and drink not ambiance. This was one of those spots. The drinks showed up quick enough to make you think they might've already known your order before you sat down. The food was solid in that dependable way--nothing trying to reinvent itself, nothing apologizing for being what it is. Just honest plates doing honest work. Kyle the bartender is a study in modern Southern service industry diplomacy. Not exactly the kind of fellow you'd invite to Thanksgiving, but he kept things moving, kept things correct, and occasionally tried to lace the proceedings with a bit of entertainment--like a man juggling while also reading the room and half the room's thoughts. In the end, it's not a place you'll write home about in glowing, poetic letters. But it is a place you'll walk out of thinking, "Well... that did just fine." And in downtown Macon, that's sometimes all a man really needed in the first place.
