For a loud, divey, smaller, Macon sports bar, serving to mostly locals and regulars , it hit the Spot for a needed late-night grub pick-me-up. The Fried Buffalo Chx Salad came in nicely as far as tastiness and filling-ness. Menu filled w all your expected choices- burgers, dogs, nachos. Ok I should have read more reviews. I did not know this was a smoking bar!! Every other person is burning one! There is nowhere to sit to avoid the second hand smoke. This is a good old boys place, unless you're NOT from Macon and the bartender doesn't approve of you (meanwhile the other staff didn't seem to have a problem). A****, the bartender couldn't stand that an outsider came in and stole her thunder (I guess?). Apparently, if you fit in (as in : you must be from Macon backwoods) and definitely do NOT try and fraternize too too hard or intend to have fun, it's your place!!! Foods good but very Noisy Obviously a University of Georgia Bar. They were playing Tennessee the evening we were in there and the noise was incredible. Exciting game that went back in forth with the Georgia Bulldogs pulling ahead during the last minute only to end with a last second touch down by Tennessee to seal the game 34 to 31. The motif if more lick a casino with everything a gambling them including most of the menu items. We walked in and were promptly seated but from that point on, our server was more interested in the game and we did not see much of her till the game was over. Air in the restaurant is heavy with cigarette smoke. On reflection, this is more like a bar than a restaurant and if you're a Georgia Fan, the place to be in Macon We started with the 'stickman" cheese sticks with a marinara dipping sauce that was very good. My wife ordered the Roast Beef Panini which was also good and was loaded with lots of meat. Very good. I opted for their "wager" Burger which is a double Cheeseburger with bacon and two different Cheese. Also very good. Only problem was the fries that I ordered. Very under cooked to the point of almost being raw. All in all, a fun place to be if you like football. If you're looking for peace and quite after a long day, you may want to look elsewhere. read more

Well let me be the first to recommend in 2023! I love to search for local places to eat when traveling. This is a local hidden gem if you want good bar food and great tv to watch games! If you can stomach that they still allow smoking (although nothing overt just the smell), then this is a place for you. Great wings and potato skins (typical bar food) but I'm sure burgers and other options were good as well. We may need to stop by during a GA football game for extra fun! read more

Back when I lived in Macon Wagers Grill and Ball was the place to go at night after you got off work if you worked in the food and beverage industry. It's where all us waiters, bartenders, and cooks would meet up to drink and tell war stories, shoot pool, and hang out. Wagers also hosted a few holiday parties I've been to that have been a blast. The food at Wagers is ok for bar food; basically the best choice is wings or a burger. But never has anyone really come here for just the food; most are here for the booze. And your's truly is no exception. My last trip to Macon a few months ago I dropped in and had a couple of beers. It's changed a good bit since back in the day, but still serves it's purpose. Next door to Outback - Wagers looks like a bar that used to be a fast food place (Taco Bell or Wendy's - I couldn't decide). Don't let the looks dissuade you. Casual atmosphere - table or bar seating - plenty of tvs - and the Loyola game was on. Great. I ordered the double pork chop dinner - two meaty chops perfectly done and served on a sizzling platter. The pineapple glaze wasn't overpowering, the chops were on the thin to medium side in size - but that's why you get two. (And an Iowa girl thinks pork chops should be one inch thick at a minimum). Baked potato was large and fluffy. Hubby had the ribeye steak dinner - medium rare. Cooked to order - juicy and tender. He had fries - not greasy. Both entrées came with a side salad which had iceberg lettuce, tomato, cheese, dressing on the side. Hmmm - could have used carrots or onion. But we enjoyed them. Staff were friendly - patrons were friendly. Two great meals and drinks for a great price. If you're looking for good bar food - and more - give Wagers a try. I bet you'll love it. read more

Most of the food was pretty good, but I think they missed the mark on the name. Greasers Grill & Bar would be more apropos, because the food, especially the potato skins, were soaked in grease. The wings, onion rings and chicken strips were all good however. The service was also very good. As soon as I opened the door the heavy smell of cigarette smoke hit me in the face, something I forgot about coming from a no smoking law in all restaurants. The location was very busy and loud. We were in town for a special event, which Wagers hosted. We felt right at home and the food was all good. My elderly aunts didn't even send their food back, which they ALWAYS do, and cleaned their plates. The burgers were great! and enjoyed the nachos as well... The place was clean and their air system kept the cigarette smoke at a minimum. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Was able to play some Keno, and never waited for a drink. read more
