I came here a couple of weeks ago as kind of a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing after eating breakfast in Old Town Leesburg. From the outside the place looks a little rough, but not anymore rough than any other bowling alley that I've been to, so I didn't really know what to expect. This isn't going to be the longest review in the world, but the place was pretty decent. The guy at the counter was very friendly and the place looked clean and maintained (which is always nice). The goal was to play three games, which we did. We didn't eat any food or order anything from the bar, so I can't really say anything about those, but at one point, a pin bounced into the gutter. We went back to the guy at the desk and, with his friendly demeanor, went and pulled the pin out of the gutter. I don't bowl a lot, but I'd definitely go back here. read more

Your standard bowling alley and is exactly what you expect. Though their website advertises the ability to call and place your group on a waitlist ahead of time, no one here seems to answer the phone. Once on site you must ask staff for everything - even the bowling balls, as you don't have the ability to go pick your own. This proves to be a challenge with groups of varying ages, since not everyone knows the weight they can handle / size of finger holes, and you are limited to the number of balls provided to your lane. My group originally paid for an hour of bowling time, and right before our time was up decided to pay for an additional 30 minutes. With 25 minutes left to spare, our lane completely broke - at no fault of any of the staff members - leaving us with the additional time upgrade wasted. With staff frantically running around in attempts to fix our lane issues, our clock ran down to 5 minutes remaining and we were not given any sort of resolution (no lane switch & no refund.) The staff here are all relatively young and don't have any authoritative power, so I don't expect them to have the ability to provide refunds, but it's pretty disappointing paying for something that you didn't receive. After a bit of back and forth we were eventually offered one free game for a future visit - though we wouldn't be able to use it since we live in NY and were only passing through. During the time we were awaiting a resolution, I did hear of another group facing the exact same issue and repeatedly demanding a new lane to no avail, so this does seem like a common occurrence at The Branch. Village Lanes is a no frills, no nonsense bowling alley. When you come here, you can expect to bowl without much distraction. There aren't any strobe or neon lights and there's no loud blaring music. But there is a great atmosphere for a fun filled afternoon with the family to bowl a few games, have some snacks and soft drinks/beers and do all that at a bargain. It's $5 per person per game and $6 for shoe rentals. There's a small kitchen that has all the classic bowling fair. You can get burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, fries and a soft pretzel as some of the options. They have beer on tap as well as bottled and cans. A pitcher costs $12.50 of domestic beer and that's a bargain! The bowling alley is old, the technology is from the '90s as you can see from my photos. All the staff was nice and welcoming and were happy to explain and assist in all aspects. Next to the register is a old punch clock and a old green screen computer which made me feel nostalgic because I haven't seen that technology in ages. read more

Big shoutout to The Branch for a fantastic lunch yesterday. Everything was top notch with great service. Highly recommend onion ring appetizer with house made horseradish sauce, hefty chicken wings (it was wings Wednesday), yummy fish and chips, hearty Reuben and A steak and cheese. Best of all was the BEST brownie sundae I have ever had. (No pic of brownie as we dug in as soon as it arrived). The Branch is the restaurant in the Leesburg bowling alley. They also serve brunch on the weekends. We need to go back. read more

So this place isn't called Village Lanes Bowling Center anymore, now it's The Branch. After rebranding the older bowling alley we decided to check it out during our Fall break. The transformation was great! First, each of the lanes is named after various cities in Loudoun, and we were lucky enough to get the Middleburg lane! The animations and face photos make the experience really fun and interactive. There was a ball at the register that you can use to measure your size (S/M/L) which helped the kids a lot. You also pay by the hour and not necessarily by the game which worked for us. It's pretty reasonable since we got two games in with three players. It wasn't very crowded when we went in the early afternoon on a Wednesday so not sure how busy it is during weekends. We ordered the kids slider, kids chicken tenders, and The Loudoun (parmesan-crusted chicken in a lemon caper sauce with roasted veggies over angel hair pasta) to eat. It said they use locally sourced ingredients which is nice. We all agreed - we would come back just for the food since it was all SO delicious!! Even the french fries were very tasty. Bonus, it's delivered right to your lane area and the seating is really spacious. The wait staff was super friendly and accommodating too. There's also plenty of parking outside the bowling alley. Overall I highly recommend you check it out. We will visit the arcades next time we are in the area too. read more

It is a great bowling ally but it needs to updated and have new food and and needs to update everything bowling balls and games plus tables etc seriously because it has looked liked that for a long time. More staff and more employees plus it is not clean it is dirty and nasty and bathrooms also need to be new and it is time I love still love bowling there so much and wonderful food and drinks! They recently (during covid) renovated the Local Leesburg bowling alley. I have to say, the owners have done a well-executed, outside the box thinking job here. While many businesses dying, and many more bowling alleys withering away like malls. This business has captivated creative survival thinking. They have remodeled the lanes, and the Food/Bar to have an upscale feel. Environment is really nice now. The Food is Fairly decent with a large variety of items. My party was 4 Me, Wife and 2 kids. All came out Hot and Better than one would expect from a bowling alley. If anything, that is the hardest thing for your mind to look past, the fact that good food is coming from an odd place-bowling alley. This idea is similar to many others, Top golf, ax throwing, Bolero etc., However this place has done it with organic ideas in true entrepreneur spirit. They have incorporated fun activities, into the happy hour here as well as daily specials. Not to mention the sports bar possibility with screens. I will be going back to bowl and eat. When leaving reviews, people need to remember that you are supposed to be rating a place based on what category it falls into. For example, just because I give a fast-food chain 5 stars, that doesn't mean I'm saying they are a 5 star restaurant. It means I'm saying they are 5 stars as far as fast food goes. That being said, this place deserves 4 stars as far as bowling alleys go. Why? Well this place is obviously old and not up to par with the newer trendy bowling alleys. But if you ask me, part of the fun of bowling is going to "old fashioned" alleys like this. It's part of the experience! I took two kids I was nannying at the time and they had a blast. They food wasn't bad for bowling alley food either. Overall this place is a cool older alley that brings back memories from bowling in my middle school days. Cute place for bowling. Went on a Saturday around 4ish and were able to get a lane with no problem. My son had fun. I do wish they had the little slides that help young ones bowl. And you can't bring outside food and beverages. So you have to purchase their bottled water.That's a little annoying. I have a son who's 7 and I can't bring him a water thermos? Hmm...any-who...we'll come back for the bowling and hydrate beforehand lol. The bathrooms while old and could desperately use a renovation, were clean. read more

If I could leave zero stars, I would do just that. If you want the short version, this place isn't family friendly and you should find somewhere else. We were on vacation in the area visiting some family. We chose this bowling alley to meet up with some old friends and catch up while having a little fun. My first indication that something was off was when the owner refused to let my daughter use the smaller weight ball. She is tiny and really should have been able to go smaller. Next, when they asked the owner if they could pull up the bumpers, they refused saying that they were only for kids. Hello? They ARE KIDS. After bowling six straight frames of zeros, they asked again. Again, they were denied. We would have left at that point if we hadn't been using the whole meeting to catch up with friends. It wasn't the end of the world for us, but it really was a terrible experience overall. We won't go back next time we pass through town. read more

This place is tucked in a run down building behind a Subway, a rundown convenient store, and I think some sort of nutrition shop. The bowling alley is dated but is well kept. For the fun bowler there are cosmic Saturday nights. Cheaper than the bowlero and the food is much better. From the typical league bowler to pro, this house has got a great shot. The lanes are well kept and the setters are maintained. It's a great place to practice, have parties, and bring your friends to hang out for good cheap fun! read more

Keep in mind this is not a national chain... this is a neighborhood bowling alley. With that in mind, it is as good as it gets. The place is clean, the people are nice... it's very familiar and I love that. The place is not too big, so it's kind of intimate.... The lanes are great, the equipment works perfectly well... it's as modern (without being novelty like) as any place I have seen, and I've played much bigger houses. Snack bar does the trick - and I like the lady behind the counter. She's nice. My son and I are both on leagues... so we are there two mornings a week. A lot of adults that bowl there have kids that also bowl there and so everyone kinda knows everyone. They have lockers and I like that so I can leave my gear there, and walk to and from the bowling alley easily. read more

Gotta love a place where you can bowl for less than $2 a game on a Sunday afternoon. From 10am to 1pm, on Sundays, they only charge $1.75 a game. Tip: come early because the place is packed! Came here on a slow Saturday afternoon to celebrate a special occasion. Our group of twelve had planned on bowling a few games and having a few pizzas. Well, that was quickly extinguished when we discovered the snack bar was closed. Our group was quite hungry and asked the attendant (BTW, the ONLY ONE ON STAFF THAT DAY) if we could have a pizza delivered or bring some fast food in but we were denied. There was even a birthday party there and they were not able to have food either. FAIL! If you want to maintain good customer relations, you need to be a bit more accommodating. It is not our fault your cook decided to take the day off. The attendant was so blasé about it and didn't even offer an apology. While I was visiting family we took a family fun day and decided to go bowling. This place is clean and the music is fun, overall pleasant experience. The only downside was I found it hard to find a bowling ball that wasn't 8 pounds, I wish there was some variety is weight. Also, we ordered a pizza and two burgers, the food took forever, so long to the point I almost said something, but it was actually super tasty! So, it was worth it I suppose but I wish it didn't take so long! Overall good place, service was friendly. read more

My husband and I went for a date night a month or so ago and had a fantastic time - everyone was really nice, good beer, etc. But when friends and I took our kids for Friday afternoon fun, I was disappointed to be chided by the older female staff member (an owner, I'm assuming) for bringing the kids water bottles. Our kids were anywhere from 1-5; most need a bottle with a top and straw (mine have Camelbacks, for example) or sippy as opposed to a regular open bottle of water like what is sold there. There were 10 kids bowling (at $7.25 each, and yes, every child was paid for even if they bowled one frame) and everyone purchased food and drinks for the adults. I just don't feel like that was an appropriate fight to pick given their ages and how much money was spent. In all, we will go back because its a local place and reasonably priced compared to our alternatives, and the kids had a great time. read more

This is a traditional bowling alley, it's a little dated but it doesn't smell like an ash tray like many of the old bowling alleys out there. The staff is friendly & helpful and the prices are very competitive. If you're looking for a high end bowling experience, go somewhere else. But if you just want to bowl & have some fun, or if you love bowling and appreciate a traditional experience w reasonable prices, this is your place. They offer food, beer, ample seating, digital score keeping, the rental shoes are in very good shape, they have a few video games & a pro shop (haven't used the pro shop but I bet it's decent). A couple of friends and I decided to go bowling for fun. We hadn't gone bowling in a while and we were getting lots of gutter balls. Therefore, we asked the guy there to put up the side bumpers and he said no, they were only for kids. WE WERE ALL KIDS!!!! I only bowled 16. I asked yet again "Can you please put the bumpers up", but he refused for the second time. He was very rude this time and I bowled badly again. This took away from my experience of hanging out with my friends, and it made the bowling no fun. I'm never coming here again! 100% do not recommend!!!! read more

I will never be going to this bowling center again and mind you I was on a field trip with children that are on spring break, he was yelling for our students to sit down and stop being loud. This place is a diamond in the rough. The outside of this establishment does not do justice to the vintage bowling experience you'll have! Great prices, great people working, great food/drinks at the snack bar. My husband and I took out 2 and 4 years kids here for their first time bowling. This place is reminiscent of the bowling alleys of the 80's-90's. They have a few lanes set up with bumpers for kids and ensure they keep the family bowlers at the opposite end of the alley from the adults who would be annoyed by a toddler wandering into their lane. If you want relatively inexpensive bowling without a wall-to-wall crowd, you can do a lot worse than Village Lanes. They're even smoke-free a couple of times a week. The prices are lower than most "chain" alleys (Bowl America, AMF, etc). If you want state-of-the-art electronics, this is probably not for you. But it's a solid bowling experience. This is the place we go for bowling in Loudoun County. It is totally "old school" and it takes me back the days when my parents used to drag me to the bowling alley while they were in a league back in the 70's when it was the cool thing to do. The prices are reasonable ($3.75 per game most times) and they have lots of specials were you can bowl for reduced rates ($1.75 per game). The place is clean and well taken care of and the food is decent. They have a pro shop and my favorite old ball polishing machine. The scoring is electronic and pretty intuitive so anyone can enter names and get the game underway. They also have bumpers so you cannot throw a gutter ball and a good selection of house balls, especially for kids. They also do parties. My one recommendation is that if you are going to bowl often, go buy your own shoes and save yourself the $3.90 rental cost. You can pick up a pair for $20 and they will pay themselves in five trips to the bowling alley. read more

I decided to get back into bowling as a hobby and came to Village Lanes because they have a pro shop. Jeb spent a ton of time with me fitting and drilling the new ball and you even get 3 free games with the purchase of a new ball. My wife and I have been coming here about once a week to bowl a few games and always enjoy the experience. One of their current specials is Monday all day bowling for $1.50 a game. The rest of the time it is $2.75 a game or something like that - check the website for specials and occasional coupons. We had no problems with funky odors or smoke smells like you sometimes get at older bowling centers. I haven't tried the food, but I have my eye on the fried mushrooms for a future visit - most of the prices are pretty much in line for places like this - $3.50 for a hamburger isn't outrageous and it is getting made while you wait. They also have a small arcade are with a pinball machine and a few video games. Overall a great place to go have a good time. read more

First, they didn't want to put the bumpers up for our kids who are terrible at bowling. We had to argue with the assistant manager. I wish my kids were better at bowling but after posting 2 0's, they weren't having a good time. Second, we ordered food including a pizza. When the rest of the order was ready, the pizza was gone. Apparently someone else ordered a pizza after us and took ours. Their system for picking up food is basically just to put it on the edge of the counter and let you come and get it. So no one could tell who's pizza was who's. So we didn't get our food for a good hour or more. Just overall unpleasant experience. It was busy so I got the feeling like they weren't too concerned with the customer service. read more

We were back in town visiting old friends. I brought my 15 year old son, 14 year old daughter and her 14 year old friend. The manager REFUSED to put the bumpers up - he kept saying that they were for little kids. I'm honestly not sure what difference it makes. We were here for fun, not league play or competition. To those complaining of no outside food or drink: there's a water fountain right out in the open dead center. You do not have to "buy water bottles" as someone else commented. Went to the bowling alley for a fun rain day activity. Sadly it didn't work out. While bowling, about half way through our first game, the general manger came out and yelled at my kids. Normally, I do not have a problem with correcting my kids as long as one can do it with grace. This man was horrible. The kids had no idea what he was saying or why he was so angry. I respectively requested, while holding my 6 week old nephew, "Sir, please let me know next time my kids are doing something that isn't allowed, I will instruct them" to which he barked back, "my house, my rules and I will speak to them not you". According to the kids (who's ages ranged from 6-12) the disrespectful general manger had a problem with the amount of kids retrieving balls and a child bowling backwards (ball through her legs backwards). Personally this type of management is horrendous and I will never step foot inside this establishment again and I would warn you if you are considering bringing your children here, the general manger is not gracious or respectful. read more

Bring 10 people for two games of bowling, show rental and food - my son mistakenly puts a $5 in the $1 quarter machine and the owner told me he will not refund his money because he doesn't know that my son put any money in there at all and that I'm the only one worried about it, that he doesn't care. Terrible way to run a business, especially to out of town guests who just spent a lot of money and their entire afternoon at your establishment. There probably isn't another choice for bowling in this area but be aware that this man does NOT care who you are and if you ever come back. I don't care who you are, that's no way to grow a thriving community business, you don't treat people like that. read more
