The Sterling location isn't as big as some of the other climbing gyms, but it is plenty for a climbing session. I will say, the one issue of this location is that since it's a little small, the bouldering section is a little cramped in spacing compared to their other location in Alexandria. Not a a big problem at all, but can be during peak hours. Their staff here are very nice and friendly as well. Always a good group of people being welcoming to new guests and members. The facility itself is also well kept and clean.

I tell myself that making time and partnering up is better motivation and will ensure that I actually make the time to work on my fitness. Forget all that. I come for the eye candy. Plus, I lie to myself and imagine that if I keep up with climbing, I'll also have a ridiculously ripped, lean, toned body with a perfect V-shaped torso. No, don't burst my little dream bubble. Fair warning. Until you obtain a membership card (which took us roughly three weeks from signing up), you'll have to deal with the stench by the front desk. Our suspicious: the stack of rental climbing shoes that have been worn by countless people. Fortunately, I can now hold my breath or breathe through my mouth as I navigate past the worst of it. Once you're back into the main part of the gym, it's much easier to breathe. With plenty of bouldering, huge tall walls for belay climbing or top roping (which I still haven't experienced myself), and a couple of auto-belays, there has always been ample room to find a wall to climb. Plus, membership benefits include free yoga classes, a significant discount on climbing gear (which, believe me, I looked... it's never on sale anywhere), and a huge benefit on pricing for classes. The staff here seem well-informed and helpful, and it's always been easy enough to hunt someone down for questions about the gym, equipment, or suggestions on how to improve. After about a month, I can legitimately say that I'm pretty addicted. Whether it's on the climbing itself, or the view... well, jury's still out.

Generally clean, decent array of equipment and amenities, and usually friendly staff. Over time, I did think sometimes equipment took a bit long to repair, and the lack of simple basics like paper towels in the bathroom was something I wished they had. I also just found myself having to wait on equipment way too frequently, even when the gym wasn't that crowded because they only have one version of some machines and they have a much older crowd at this gym that likes to just sit there talking or scrolling their phones and doesn't seem very serious about working out. Having to navigate the One Loudoun traffic and parking garages also felt like a chore sometimes. At the end of the day, if this gym were a little cheaper I might have considered renewing after my initial term. But it's 1:1 the same cost as the brand new OneLife in Ashburn that has way more equipment + dozens of locations, open space, aquatics, recovery room with compression, red light, and hydromassage, towels included, and more, with a convenient parking lot only one exit farther down Route 7 to boot. I've actually seen 20+ regulars I knew from TFE now working out at OneLife so I think most of the serious gymrats have picked up on the fact they can get more for their money and jumped ship. Farewell, TFE. You were a good gym, I'll always cherish our times together.

We've since moved and my name has changed because of marriage so I figured for me it would be best to come in and get this stuff updated. Also i never got my statement which I'm guessing they might have mailed to my old address and the post office hasn't forwarded. So alas my saga. Generally getting in and out isn't too painful thank goodness but I didn't want to elect to pay online and risk my stuff getting lost. Just FYI if you're in the same boat as me. When I paid my bill they said the info for the decal would show up under my old name/address unless I wanted to go a few doors down and change that info there first. Frankly I didn't care too much about that and told the lady I'd just rather pay everything now and I'll take care of the name and address change afterwards. So I did, I went a few doors down was able to get our addresses updated and I got my name updated although I think they might have already had that in the system considering I didn't need to show my ID. Overall, nice staff there so no complaints on that front. Let's hope finally they'll fix our stuff and resume to mailing us our stuff in a timely manner so we can pay our bills as required.

One thing we underestimated was the sheer strength you need in arm power for any of these workouts. Staff was friendly (shout out to Clay Elsbury, you the dawg), we went on a Thursday afternoon and we were practically the only ones in the gym for mostly the hour we were there. Set up is cool, upper floor seems like for the younger population vs. the bottom floor for more of the adults. They have a day pass for $30 (adults open access 12pm-8pm), and also a monthly membership w/ the routes changing every week! We will be coming again!

3/23/25 USAA Auto Insurance or United Services Automobile…read moreAssociation, "a financial services company primarily serving current and former members of the U.S. military and their families." A group I have experienced at the wrong end of the spear twice. Nevertheless, on the first occasion, my wife's vichele was hit and USAA found the car crasher of USAA at fault. My wife's vichele was repaired at fast and alarming rate. The alarming part is a good thing in my opinion. It was at this time the idea of being with this company first entered my mind. However, I was with Geico and liked the service they provided, so I stuck it out with them. On the second occasion, I was rear-ended at the light by Tyson Corner Mall on March 4th 2025 at 8:33AM. The driver of the other vichele just happened to have the Insurance of United Services Automobile Association. During the time of the accident, my mind did not put together the acronym known by most people as USAA. I felt pain in my neck and lower back for a short time after the accident. Still, the driver who hit me took responsibility for it, and this is one reason I called his Insurance and got the ball rolling instead of my insurance. Something you should know, We are no longer with Geico. They got expensive for us. I don't care for the insurance group we are with now, so switching to USAA would be nice. After talking with a female insurance agent about settling everything, I felt a lot better then my first call with a male insurance agent. A week later a check for compensation came in, with two doctor appointments taken care of as well. I even got my car inspected to assess the damage caused in the accident. All that comes next is getting my car repaired at no cost to me and rental car during my vichele repair time. This will also be at no cost to me. All this happened with two weeks time. This I must say, is a step in the right direction at making things right. Today is March 28th 2025. I haven't heard back from the collision center regarding the ordered parts for my vichele. I will give it another week then contact the collision center to find out what's going on. I will have a follow up on USAA and write a review on the collision center. Hopefully everything thing goes according to plan. If so, I will do my darnedest to become a member of USAA like I did with Navy Federal Credit Union.
