    FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH
    barsha s.

Ordered the spicy fried chicken sandwich and wow!!! It was JUICY, FLAVORFUL, and a thick piece of chicken!! Would definitely get this again. Service was incredibly fast and I got my sandwich within 5 mins of ordering it. Additionally, the bathroom was well maintained and smelled very nice :)

What an amazing restaurant I ordered the spicy sandwich last night my girlfriend ordered original. We also ordered tater tots and curly fries. It was so good and delicious. What the heck? The service was so fast and reliable. I was like oh my God the ambience is really nice. It looks like a very good chicken spot 10 out of 10 definitely would come back again

Sandwiches are spicy and filled with flavor! I love their spicy fried chicken sandwich and also their grilled chicken sando collab with Super Duper. Their garlic fries alwayyyssss hit and a must add to every order. Food always served quick, service is great! Unfortunately, idk what it is with their wings but they are ridiculously tiny & have barely any meat on them. Will not be ordering this again.

I've eaten at The Bird on numerous occasions. You order at the counter, and they give you a number in a holder so they can find your table and bring the food to you. Water is self-service. We ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich ($10) and a side of French fries ($3.75). The sandwich had a touch of chipotle sauce, but it wasn't too spicy. The fries were crispy and served hot. The meal felt reasonably priced for the Hayes Valley area, especially since it's close to venues like SFJAZZ Center, San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Ballet, and San Francisco Opera. I would dine here again if I'm in the neighborhood, especially before or after a performance.

    The menu & great prices!

Friendly service in Hayes but hey it's Hayes! The mini burger and tater tots were the surprise darlings. The biscuit chicken sandwich w/ tots for $6.50? Outrageous deal. Whole side of tots. The slaw of apple and celery and cabbage was delightful but the chicken I could NOT bite through and had to hand tear through the striations of the chicken- that, was super frustrating! Not too Busy and almost dive bar casual seating. But there is a big area to find seats and fresh water and glasses out to help yourself and plenty of napkins, moist towelettes and pump gel to clean your hands. Counters...could have used a wipe down. The shocker was the prices - they were remarkable for the city!! 1 block away I had the worst ramen/non service and highest prices ever! So this was an extra star in my memories around here. Super Casual. MiniCheeseburger was a bit thicker than a super duper and at that level of delicious & only $7! Do that!

I've been to The Bird years ago at their SoMa location. I was looking for a quick lunch spot and I always walk by the Hayes Valley location so I thought I would try it again. I remember really liking it when I first tried it. You can order off the kiosk in the front. There is plenty of seating in the front of the shop and I saw a bunch of people walking towards the back too. Fried chicken sandwich (3/5): I thought I'd love it because I am a big fan of chicken sandwiches but it was only okay. It wasn't as crispy as I was hoping for it to be. Definitely too much mayo as well. The slaw was okay. I probably should've ordered the spicy one. The bun was only okay too. Overall, it wasn't what I remembered. A good spot for a quick lunch but it's not amazing. You can order online for pickup too.

This was my 2nd time visiting this location, I try to give business grace and try them more than once. My first order I did online for pick up. It was super salty! Egg sandwich loaded fries and apple fritters. Fritters were the redemptive item, they were so good. I tried again this time walk in. Ordered the veggie burger and apple fritters. Girl behind the counter told me they didn't make any today... ummm why it's on the menu. Then I was given my order and I went back to work. They gave me the wrong order it had a chicken sandwich and tots, I'm vegetarian. I walked back and they gave me the correct order with no apology or anything. Well I tried.

In a nutshell; neat place to hang out and eat some good burgers. Lots of seats and tables spread throughout, menu isnt overloaded and simple enough. Burgers are good. Sides were decent. Sports bar on a side, a more chill side on another spot, isnt too overly expensive and employees and the service were all relative great. Overall if youre looking for a nice burger to eat while on a quick lunch or while watching a game etc., well this place is nice to consider going to.

    Fried Chicken Sandwich

The Bird in Hayes Valley is one of my team's go-to lunch spots, and for good reason. Their fried chicken sandwich is the star--crispy, juicy, and full of flavor, all tucked inside a perfectly toasted bun. Paired with their curly fries, which are always golden and seasoned just right, it makes for a lunch that's both satisfying and crave-worthy. It's a simple order, but one that consistently delivers. What keeps us coming back is how quick and efficient the service always is. Even when it's busy, orders come out fast, which makes it an easy and reliable option for a workday lunch. It's the kind of place where you know you'll get exactly what you're craving without any fuss, and that reliability goes a long way when you're short on time. That being said, The Bird can get crowded during the lunch rush, there are a lot of seating, but timing is key. The Ambiance in there can get a bit loud with board games, as the other side is a bar, but normally is a combination of local workers, students, and people passing by. If you want to avoid the lines and secure a spot, it's best to head over a little early or wait for a late lunch. Either way, the food is worth it--it always hits the spot and keeps us coming back for more.

Got a fried chicken sandwich with the coleslaw on the side, along with some tater tots. They gave me quite a bit of chicken for the sandwich, but as much as egghead lol. The sauce is amazing, it looks really spicy but it's not actually that spicy, just a slight tingle.

    Doreen C.

Ordered the classic hot chicken sandwich and it hit the spot!! I liked this place more than Dave's hot chicken since I feel like the chicken is a lot more flavorful/well seasoned. Would come back again if I'm craving a hot chicken sandwich!

    Vivian L.

Food was decent, but felt like they were small for the price point. A little too salty for my liking, but that's a personal problem. We ordered at the kiosk and it didn't take long for the food to come out. The atmosphere was very casual, but I felt like the music was a little too loud. Worth checking out though!

i went here on a whim a going in a super long walk across the city and i was starving, this was the only thing nearby that was open after 10pm so I didn't know what to expect. I know that San Francisco prices are expensive for meals, but how are the fries portions so ridiculously off get there the same price, and the garlic fries came soggy and cold, but the curly fries refresh. The only things I finished out of everything I bought were the curly fries and the juice. I got the spicy fried chicken sandwich, not sure if they gave me a sandwich that was sitting there for a while, but it was not crispy at all. The sauce had flavor but was not spicy to me, but whatever it was, it had a sweetness to it that made it taste disgusting to me. The celery slaw was not to my liking at all. It didn't help balance out the sauce that coded the chicken and the buns. The only thing salvageable on that sandwich was the pickle slice. Blue cheese sauce was also incredibly mid and didn't salvage anything else I put it on. personally will not be going back here but maybe you will have a better experience here if you choose eat here

In fact, I was quite forlorn having presumed this location of Limon was permanently closed. I liked the way they prepared their pollo à la brasa because the Peruvian-style chicken was consistently succulent. I'm guessing maintaining the quality and profitability of a sit-down restaurant has been economically challenging since this was not the only Limon that has closed. I was encouraged that they kept the space and reinvented it into more of a fast food/takeout operation replete with a cartoon chicken mascot and an animated mural along the northern side of the building. I came by in the middle of a weekday afternoon, so I wasn't ready to eat on the spot. I decided on a takeout order of the $21.95 Half Chicken Pollo à la Brasa with two sides. I think I overdid the starches and went with the Plantains and Yuca Fries. I only noticed afterward that I could've gotten salad or cole slaw instead. When I got home and started to eat, I was immediately disappointed that the chicken tasted overcooked with the breast piece particularly dry. That was too bad because the skin from the rotisserie had the familiar flavorful seasonings. The plantains were tasty albeit a bit oily, while I had to nuke the lukewarm yuca fries to bring them back to life (Photo 9). Next time, I'll time my arrival closer to lunch or dinner, so I can dine in-house. My hope is that the chicken will be closer to the quality level I recall from Limon. Rooster & Rice is a chain with multiple locations serving up Khao Mun Gai (or Thai style chicken…read morerice), but my most recent order with them really fell flat. I ordered "The Original" with jasmine chicken rice, extra cilantro, cucumber, chicken skin (love that those are free add-ons), and an egg, and while the bowl was fine, all of the flavors felt like they could've been amped up several notches as everything leaned pretty bland and one note. I even swapped in the ginger scallion sauce, usually my favorite with Hainanese chicken, but it still fell flat and didn't bring the dish together the way I'd hoped. The dark meat was okay, if under-seasoned, but the breast meat was honestly pretty rough as it was extremely dry to the point where I was chasing each bite with water just to get it down. I added the chicken spring rolls as well, which were poorly wrapped and fell apart after a single bite, and they used the same overcooked white meat, making them basically inedible. If this is the standard for their white meat, I really think they should either stick to dark meat or make it clear that dark meat is an option without an upcharge. That said, my order was ready right when I expected it to be, pickup was smooth, and the staff were very nice and friendly, which keeps this from dropping lower in rating as I'm likewise hoping this was just an off night.

Love Burn is chicken based, and the other is a burger spot. Order at the small counter and you wait outside. I ordered the chicken tenders and fries. After about 7 min, you get your order. It's a good sized portion... three large breast pieces and crispy fries. I got the Level 1 spice, which was just right, and the House Sauce for dipping. The sauce is like Raising Canes-style. The chicken is nice and moist, with lots of flavor. I'd definitely pickup again. The sidewalk where you wait isn't very nice... smells like a sewer and weed. But the food is worth the wait.

The wings were spicy and a bit painful to eat, but it wasn't too bad where it was inedible. I don't think I would ever get level 4 though unless it's just for bragging rights saying that I tried it because I know it'll probably taste horrible and the spice will be intolerable! I thought their chicken sandwich was very crunchy and it was huge! I shared it with my husband, but it didn't really wow me nor do I have cravings to go back. We got there in the morning and it was basically dead. No one else was there and the bowling alley was closed, which added more to the emptiness. No parking lot, only street parking, but we found a spot right away at the nearby residential homes.
