Fried Chicken Sandwich This thing is HUGE!
Allena C.

We've tried Love Burn a few times before and I thought I had written a review before, but I guess it slipped my mind, so here it is! Love Burn is inside the Hometown bowling alley, so the vibe is hearing loud music and bowling pins getting knocked! They also have a game room with 2 pool tables, air hockey, and some arcade games. FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH ~ Crispy Fried Chicken Thigh, Buttered Toasted Martin's Potato Bun, Creamy coleslaw, pickles. BF has been thinking about his last experience at Love Burn. He had a fried chicken sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed the crunchiness and spiciness! He said it made him hiccup and sweat! But this time, it wasn't as spicy. He was disappointed. He chose "burning love", which is a level down from signing a waiver, but he felt he could have gone to the spiciest level since this didn't get him. He swore he chose the same spice level, but this didn't give him the same head-sweating results! Did someone complain that it was too hot?! And he said the meat wasn't marinated through like the first time. But you definitely need napkins for it and a hearty appetite to take it all down!! And that he did! For $15, that sandwich was worth it! The chicken was tender, and the batter was crunchy! He's only hoping for better heat next time! 4.5/5 ~ We'll update to give that extra 1/2 star if his heat sensor hits the mark!

Ordered food from Love Burn wow bowling with some friends. Love Burn is located inside Hometown Bowl And can be ordered a couple different different ways, including to go, dine in as they have a couple chairs, or during bowling if the alleys are open. We were bowling and it was very easy to walk right over to the restaurant and order through a kiosk, which will then alert your phone when the order is ready. I've always enjoyed Love Burn and think that they fry their chicken incredibly well. I typically opt for a chicken sandwich, but this time I ordered tenders with onion rings. The chicken for tenders were fried perfectly with a golden crispy exterior and hot, juicy interior meat. Love Burn known for their spice with levels including spice to level four. I don't do spicy well, so I got no spice, But the chicken was still flavorful with regular seasoning. The onion rings were crispy nicely with the house ranch. Definitely one of my favorite fried chicken spots the place I find to be a gem.

We like their food a lot, but the last few visits have had the problem of nearly burned breading. Maybe the oil is too hot? Or dirty? Or a change to the dredge/breading? Anyway, it's still good. But, it's not the most appealing to get chicken the color of chocolate brownie with a hint of char from the fryer.

Hidden gem located inside of a Bowling Alley. Lots of parking and security. Seasoned fries: 5/5 Churros: 4/5 (bit dry) Mild level 1 chicken sandwich: 5/5. The breading is special, it tastes a bit like ramen crushed up and fried with the chicken breast which is also gigantic. The flavors are all there and not messy at all. Easily top 3 fried chicken spot in the Bay Area, #1 in the peninsula/SF area for sure. Service was great, the gentlemen at the cashier is very friendly. LocTed inside of a bowling alley and next to a bar so expect it to be a bit noisy.

TLDR: they packed the to-go items well (vents in boxes to prevent steam degrading the chicken crunchiness), flavorful... I just wish there was an option for tenders without fries :( therefore, I'm taking one star away Longer version: My BF and I were driving home from an afternoon in Mountain View, and even though we had eaten a few hours prior, bae was hungryyyy and we had been eyeing Love Burn for a while, so it made sense to give it a try before returning to the City. There is only street parking in the neighborhood OR on El Camino if you get lucky/wanna risk getting out of your car on that stretch of road. You enter the bowling alley and Love Burn is to the right, next to the bar, and has a kiosk for ordering and a small window for picking up orders. Easy enough! We considered grabbing a beer while we waited for our order - it was suuuuper dead aside from a birthday party at a few of the bowling lanes. Likely due to the torrential downpour outside, but we'll try to come by again for bowling on a lazy Sunday in the future. Boyfriend is a fan of spicy and considered getting the One Night Stand on his Hot Chicken Sandwich, but opted for Burning Love (level 3) instead of fussing with a waiver (and potential heartburn on a Monday). He liked the flavor and the spice level was definitely up there (I am trying to push my tolerance, but it was too much for me), but he'll take the time to sign the waiver next time we visit (and I will not be trying a bite, hahaha). Portion was huge, the chicken was much larger than the bun (see photo). I wanted chicken tenders, but didn't want fries, so opted for the Hot Leg & Thigh. I wanted to be brave, so got First Date (spice level 2), but next time will get Crush (level 1) because it was spicier than I commonly find enjoyable. I love my cholula, but in measured doses per bite... this was thoroughly sauced and therefore no break from the spice. All of our chicken was perfectly crispy, crunchy! Even though we had a 20+ min commute to get home and dig in. The slots in the to-go box is very clever - allowed the steam to escape and ensured the chicken didn't get mushy. Worth nothing the pickles served with orders spice level 2+ were also mostly spicy, less pickly. If you want a break from the spice, consider getting a side of cole slaw. What's interesting is there is no side option for fries. So if you want fries, at least according to the menu, you must get tendies. I didn't think to ask the employees if there was a secret work around, but why not just list them separetely on the public menu if it is possible? This is just... confusing to me. I feel like if I were at the bowling alley, I'd be more apt to get wings and fries for sharing at the lane... Love Burn: if you make an option for tendies without fries, I'd bring this review to 5 stars + I feel like you'd get a bit more customers.

I won't complain on the size of the sandwich (which I finished in an instant). The chicken is flavorful, i just don't like the dripping oil towards the end of your sandwich... Level 2 is quite manageable, not too burning. Their churros is not worth trying, it was small (cut into french fry) & its not even crunchy. Limited parking & service may take a while. Noise level is high since this is a bowling arena, arcade & a bar.

This place is for spicy lovers. Ranging from level 0 to 4, you can pick the right spice for you. I chose level 1 because I like a little kick in my meal. They have a kiosks in the front where you can order. The staffs were helpful and provided additional utensils when my fork fell. The vibes were nice, I didn't even know they had a bowling alley here. I love the black brick walls outside of the building. Def coming back here to try the other items and to bowl with the homies.

Came with a large group on a Sunday for lunch. You order at the counter up front, and then you can grab a table in a roped off area (only 21+ allowed in the seating area though, since there's a bar). I ordered the hot chicken sandwich, which comes on a potato bun and with coleslaw and pickles, with 0 spiciness. The sandwich is really large, which gives it a visual wow factor, but it's unfortunate that the taste doesn't live up to its appearance. The chicken is really crispy, as fried chicken should be, but it was also very oily and a little too fatty for my liking. The chicken itself was juicy and not dry though, which I appreciated. Also, not sure what was in that cole slaw but it kind of tasted like celery (although that might have just been the red cabbage?) which I am not a fan of, so I eventually just scooped out all the cole slaw. The pickles were also not crisp and fresh; they tasted like they were boiled, which isn't my ideal way to eat pickles. I'd probably skip the fries too; they were denser than I like my fries and didn't have very good flavor. The service was really great though! The cashier was super friendly. Overall, the vibe was super chill. There were also a few TVs playing NFL games. It's a nice place to hangout, but I don't think I'd get the chicken sandwich again. Parking was pretty easy; street parking in a relatively residential area.

Def feeling the burn with Love Burn. If you like SPICY fried chicken, this place does not play around! I have a low spice tolerance so I ordered a "crush" aka mild & it was still too spicy for me. The size of the chicken is gigantic. So worth the price! The meat was soft and tender. It's located inside in a bowling place with fun arcade games. Good food, vibes, & music! I really liked the hot ranch but should have asked for cool ranch to help alleviate the spice lol.

I heard about this place from a friend and since I love hot chicken sandwiches, I def needed to try. This place is located in a bowling alley. I came on a Saturday during lunch time. No lines and service was pretty quick. You order at a kiosk and your order should come out within 15 mins. There's about 2 tables with chairs. I think people mainly get this to go. Everything I ordered was bomb! Hot Chicken Sandwich: I got spicy level 2 and it was medium spicy. If I got a level up, I'm sure I wouldn't be able to eat it. It was spicy enough for level 2. The chicken is hugeeeee! Honestly could be shared with two people. It was very crispy and super moist inside. Honestly one of the best hot chicken sandwiches I've ever had! The sides I tried were all amazing but my favorite was the seasoned fries. Eat it fresh because it's not as good if you eat it later. Overall, it's amazing! Will come back.

One of THE best fried chicken sandwiches in the Bay Area is hidden in this bowling alley in South San Francisco. Love Burn not only has the most massive chicken sandwiches I've seen, they're also known to have the spiciest fried chicken in the Bay. My friend had to sign a waiver to try their 5-level spice challenge. But if you're like me and not looking to die on the toilet the next day, the level 0 or 1 are still incredibly juicy and delicious. It's mainly takeout and you can choose your spice level 0-5. For $14 they do not mess around - even the level 1 got me ngl

Hot chicken sandwich, spice level 2: "First Date" medium hot (habaneros)

Love burn has the best hot chicken sandwiches in the peninsula. Crispy on the outside and super moist on the inside. Packs a ton of good flavor in every bite. I always order the coleslaw and pickles on the side so the sandwich doesn't get soggy. They already give a lot of chicken, but they gave an extra piece! Try out all the spice levels if you dare but level 1 is the most enjoyable for me. Highly recommend if you like fried chicken! It can get busy, but the staff always maintain composure and are always friendly. Parking is limited since they share space in a bowling alley and next to a gas station. Theres always street parking. There's only a few tables to eat, but I usually take it to go and eat at home. Depending on how busy bowling is, it could get a bit noisy if you decide to eat there. I'll definitely be a repeat customer!

In fact, I was quite forlorn having presumed this location of Limon was permanently closed. I liked the way they prepared their pollo à la brasa because the Peruvian-style chicken was consistently succulent. I'm guessing maintaining the quality and profitability of a sit-down restaurant has been economically challenging since this was not the only Limon that has closed. I was encouraged that they kept the space and reinvented it into more of a fast food/takeout operation replete with a cartoon chicken mascot and an animated mural along the northern side of the building. I came by in the middle of a weekday afternoon, so I wasn't ready to eat on the spot. I decided on a takeout order of the $21.95 Half Chicken Pollo à la Brasa with two sides. I think I overdid the starches and went with the Plantains and Yuca Fries. I only noticed afterward that I could've gotten salad or cole slaw instead. When I got home and started to eat, I was immediately disappointed that the chicken tasted overcooked with the breast piece particularly dry. That was too bad because the skin from the rotisserie had the familiar flavorful seasonings. The plantains were tasty albeit a bit oily, while I had to nuke the lukewarm yuca fries to bring them back to life (Photo 9). Next time, I'll time my arrival closer to lunch or dinner, so I can dine in-house. My hope is that the chicken will be closer to the quality level I recall from Limon. I ordered "The Original" with jasmine chicken rice, extra cilantro, cucumber, chicken skin (love that those are free add-ons), and an egg, and while the bowl was fine, all of the flavors felt like they could've been amped up several notches as everything leaned pretty bland and one note. I even swapped in the ginger scallion sauce, usually my favorite with Hainanese chicken, but it still fell flat and didn't bring the dish together the way I'd hoped. The dark meat was okay, if under-seasoned, but the breast meat was honestly pretty rough as it was extremely dry to the point where I was chasing each bite with water just to get it down. I added the chicken spring rolls as well, which were poorly wrapped and fell apart after a single bite, and they used the same overcooked white meat, making them basically inedible. If this is the standard for their white meat, I really think they should either stick to dark meat or make it clear that dark meat is an option without an upcharge. Service is somewhat non-existent as you can only order from a kiosk, which I find a bit odd i.e. to not offer counter ordering whatsoever and ambience is very much fast casual. The main get here is the spicy fried chicken sandwich, which delivers a nice mild-to-medium heat balanced against tasty slaw and pickles. The bun strikes just the right thickness (I hate when the bread to filling ratio is way off in either direction) as it is sturdy enough to hold everything together without falling apart mid-bite. I'd love if they cranked up the spice a notch, but that's obviously specific to the individual. On my latest visit, I also tried the lemon pepper chicken tenders, which were a letdown and would not recommend. They had basically no seasoning (zero lemon pepper flavor but also barely any salt or pepper) and were also a bit over fried. The curly fries and tots are standard issue, nothing fancy but the mango habanero sauce was just weird as it was oddly not sweet or spicy, with an unpleasant vinegar-like consistency that I tried once and never went back for. Overall, it's a reliable stop if you're in the mood for some no frills spicy chicken sando and side spuds.
