Visited this pub while vacationing in Jackson, in June, 2020, during the whole Covid Era. Very warmly welcomed and made to feel at home. We were seated at a booth but asked to move to the bar when seats became available. Seating was separated by large Xd-out areas for safety. The locals were enjoying themselves and we felt included in their revelry. The owner (?), manager(?) was having a blast greeting guests and just enjoying his time. Hubby ordered the turkey rueben and liked it...but thought the sauerkraut could have been more "krauty." I am not a connoisseur of sauerkraut, so not quite sure what that means, but, all in all, he liked it. I had the Chicken Caesar salad, which was enormous. I liked it, but, I prefer shaved parmesan, not bagged shredded, and a more tangy dressing; the epitome of a Caesar salad, in my humble opinion. I also had a Mexican beer of some sort, can't for the life of me remember the name or find it online, but it was very good. Bartender's suggestion. Place is fun and comfortable. Tough to locate and even tougher to park, but worth it. read more

Delicious food, great service and beautiful views. We came for lunch right when they opened at 11:30 - service was quick and friendly. I had a French dip sandwich with fries, which was great; others in my group had burgers, which they enjoyed. The views from the deck are great. After finding this on Yelp, I figured it would be a good joint. Let me start with the pros: Beautiful view Tons of interesting draft and craft beers Plenty of seating Cons: Service The majority of the food Not kid friendly The homemade chips and onion dip was nice The French dip and fries were good The burger was terrible The veggie burger was terrible The wings were ehh, and the bbq sauce was weird. The reviews led us to this place, which is located on the Hoback side of JH. Seat yourself, rustic and outdoorsy place with a Sunday brunch atmosphere. A small note appended to the long selection of drinks on the chalkboard noted that it takes long to cook food from scratch. It did. Once we'd placed our order, our server (waitress) passed by often to check on us. We spent the time people watching, and on a good weather Sunday morning ... there was plenty to watch. Food arrived, I had ordered the 4oz patty melt with a side salad; the husband had ordered the steak and eggs with crispy potatoes (hash browns). We both enjoyed our meals, that Patty Melt was really good (sounds dull doesn't it, but it was "out the ballpark" good). Most notable were the hash browns, soft on the inside, toasty exterior. Not so fun: (1) no Corona, and the local brew that was touted to be similar, well .... wasn't. (2) the steak was cooked to the expected doneness, but had an odd taste (but was edible), as if residue had transferred from the grill to the steak, residue from the many other meals cooked that morning. Burger are on English muffins and do not fit on the patty. I don't understand and they didn't toaster bun tasted pretty bad.

The highest praise I can offer is that this was the place my vegetarian son broke down and became a meat eater again. It's that good. Great burgers, steaks, chicken wings. The burgers come on English muffins. No idea why. But it works. The 4 oz burger is more than enough although I found myself ordering a 9 oz burger here recently. Fun, festive atmosphere. So amazing and definitely worth the stop!! We went in for a quick bite to grab on the way home and it was the best ever!! I had ordered the Luscious Lissa (Lisa?) with a side caesar and some cheese curds. The cheese curds were so AMAZING!!! The prices were good and the humor on the menu was awesome! We came here with high hopes. . . disappointed. First off how can one make bad Ice Tea? Not sure, but it was undrinkable for DH and me, there were heavy background flavors. I usually drink it straight, but even sugar couldn't make it drinkable. My caesar salad was fine and the croutons were small and very yummy. DH had the philly sandwich and it was good too. On the other hand the fries with his sandwich seemed to be the dregs. As we were leaving we saw plates go by with nice big french fries. His plate had short pieces that were hard and unappealling. I will usually clear his plate of fries, but not this time. I also got an order of 6 wings with sesame ginger. They were okay, not as flavorful as expected but they did have a bit of a kick of heat. I think this is a great place for groups and people that come more for the beer and bar drinks. Even the view wasn't great today, but The Bird isn't responsible for the haze and smoke. read more

Found! I love a roadhouse bar. It is on the side of the street or major highway, outside of the city core, and can be a pleasant surprise. This sits outside of Jackson and has some incredible views of the mountains. More importantly, the food and service are excellent. I have found that the servers throughout Jackson are wonderful and this is no exception. Try the burger, wings, or choose from a very good local and nearby brewery beer selection. This was recommended to us by a friend who said it was the best burger they're ever had. I have to disagree. I the BBQ with a fried egg and the 9oz patty. It was tasty, but I didn't care for "bun", which was an English muffin. If I'm paying $19 for a burger, it should come with a real bun. The fries were decent and the ranch was good. I would recommend the smaller patty. The 9oz I felt was a little too much and wasn't worth the extra $7. The restaurant has a relaxed vibe and a beautiful view. Definitely worth trying, but definitely not the best burger I've ever Update: Went back and tried the French dip. Absolutely delicious. Will for sure order again it again. read more

It's funny as my extended family and I ended up here four years ago after it being recommended by our Yellowstone guide as "the best casual place to see sunsets over the mountains. And great food too!" And it did not disappoint. The food was great & casual and the deck was fun. The view was gorgeous! And the crowd were regulars & friendly. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The WORST service I have ever experienced. Just got told "F you" by the waiter because he made a mistake. Have never experienced this ever in my life in any restaurant And food is very mediocre but nice view. Very simple mistake by the waiter could have been resolved very easily but he claimed to say "we're crying over 10$" when he charged us for the wrong bottle of wine. And claimed that he didn't make a mistake but that we didn't clarify. If the waiter is confused about which wine to bring, he should ask the guest, not just bring us the more expensive wine. Surprisingly no management or supervisor came over to rectify the situation or apologize. Which shows that this behavior is accepted... not sure what's going on? It's hard not to notice that we were the only non white people there so perhaps that allowed him to just act a fool with us. Really not understanding why he felt it was okay to blow up on us for bringing the wrong Pinot noir The owner/manager should really reconsider the type of people they hire. I'm literally appalled by this encounter. Had the most amazing time in Wyoming and met great people all along the way but this guy was a piece of work. Also didn't write down our order so brought us a burger with the wrong cheese. Which we didn't even mention because we werent going to be petty. Last night in Wyoming ruined by the bird. We got the medium Buffalo wings, and each a burger with a Cesar salad. The burgers were big on an English muffin for a bun. Great flavor and actually cooked how it was ordered which is rare these days. The gal at the bar made good beer recommendations and we enjoyed the meal a lot. The deck was hot in the afternoon sun, but you couldn't beat the view. Overall, I'd come back here in a heartbeat. This is the local bar you wish you had at home. Great beer selection, friendly service, low-key, and with owners who care about running things right. The food kicks ass also. ...here is the problem with most bar food; It is either all the same average Sysco frozen food served up by a cook who doesn't care OR it is a way overpriced gastro pub bastardization serving up small portions of extremely overpriced food, when all you really wanted was a solid burger and a draft special. The Bird is neither of those. The Bird has your standard bar menu with burgers, wings, sandwiches and a token steak, BUT each one of them is prepared and served with attention to detail. The burgers kick ass. They are weighed so if you get a 9 oz. burger, that is how much it weighs when it arrives in front of you. It's not the pre-cooked weight "half-pounder" most places serve which arrives looking like a fast food quarter pounder. If you get the big burger, you get one mom would be proud to serve you! But with way better fresh ground rib eye beef. The wings are ridiculous. Really. I like hot wings. Every time I order wings I am always disappointed they are too mild. (However, I always order one down from the "suicide/nuclear" wing because those are just battery acid with red food coloring.) Well, if you like hot wings, get the MILD wing here. Trust me. The HOT will hurt you. There's one above that called the "don't even try" or something like that. I don't know...it's made with ghost peppers. The HOT wing is made with habanero...but not the habanero like that bottle of hot sauce you have at home and enjoy on your tacos and eggs. This is habanero like someone stuck a whole pepper in your mouth and told you to chew. The shit is hot. Get the mild. I have a very good tolerance for heat and I could only put down 5 of the 12 I ordered and had to experience the pain twice. ...do the math. The Philly is a respectable cheese steak. They put Cheese Whiz on it!! I didn't have to ask for it, I wasn't given a provolone option. They served it up like they do in South Philly...Whiz Wit, unless you say otherwise. (I don't know what green peppers were doing on there, but I had them removed. ;) They also had steaks I didn't see and shnitzel which appeared to be a big hit. It was as big as the plate it was served on. Fries are great as well. If you are on vacation, go here early in your trip. You'll want to go back a second time. If you live in Jackson, count yourself lucky. Most don't have places like this at home. read more

I really enjoyed the patio at The Bird. Picnic-style tables on an open, airy deck over-looking the distant mountains. I like it because The Bird is not a refined, touristy place. We heard a ton of people recommend this place while in Jackson, so we decided to attend our last afternoon to end on a high note. We went early in the afternoon and had to wait 15 minutes to have someone stop by to get our drink orders. It took another 10 to get our water. The bartender, bless his heart, saw us waiting and attended to us after that. We ordered the wings, which were fine, and got a burger and bratwurst for our meals. Our meals were pleasing to the eye, but not satisfying to the taste. My burger left something to be desired and my wife's bratwurst was inedible for me and her. She couldn't eat more than a bite and the same for me. For a place that seemed like the talk of the town, (recommended by 3 tour guides we had) it was disappointing. I would probably only come if you want some decent wings and to have some drinks at the bar. read more

A little off the beaten path being just outside of downtown but a hidden gem! We loved the onion dip!! And being Tex Mex experts we had to try the queso - very good flavor & consistency, just ask them to serve it HOT not lukewarm. The overall vibe is fun and laid back. My guy and I were visiting Jackson hole and wanted to eat somewhere off the crowded beaten path. Some awesome Yelp reviews brought us to this location. We were not disappointed. The food was great. My guy loved his burger. He said it was one of the best burgers he's ever eaten. I too was pleased with my meal. It seems like most of the negative reviews here are from people offended because it's "not kid friendly" or "slow service" - who cares?
