Cute spot with a mom-n-pop deli feel to it. All of the food appeared to be scratch made upon ordering. Wife and I shared two sandwiches...their Bench Club and also a chicken panini. The club featured sliced turkey, crisp bacon, Canadian smoked cheddar, avocado, lettuce and tomato on grilled multi-grain bread. The panini was pressed and grilled, served with chicken breast, basil pesto mayo, melted cheese and a house-made apple chutney on ciabatta bread. Both were hearty, filling and delicious. Came into The Bench Market after a nice float down the Channel. Cute market and a full kitchen available with friendly staff. They allowed us to swap out the bread used on the sandwiches, so we had The Bench Club on the original multigrain, as well as baguette, and ciabatta. At $16.50 for a sandwich, I would have liked it to include a side selection of some sort, but I had to add on a bag of chips to the meal for an additional cost (the downside of the whole experience.) Wife had one of the eggwiches, as part of the All Day Breakfast. Great for walk-ups as well as bike-ups. Plenty of pre-packaged selections inside the market as well for any of your picnic needs. And it's pet friendly! We sat on the patio with our friends' dog. Heads up: no alcohol license, so if you're looking for some booze, you won't find it here. I eat at one place twice in a day! 9:00 breakfast of eggs, bacon and toast and delicious apple juice, then at 3:00 lunch ... enjoying a larger glass of apple juice and mushroom etc sandwich... I forget the funny names they have for meals. My friend had a scone along with granola cereal with almond milk and later the veggie burger....all food was delicious and even the coffee was good! You stand on a line to order your food, pick up your beverages and muffins or scones and plates of food are brought to your table. We really loved our morning spent at Bench Market when we visited Penticton in October. My boyfriend was invited by tourism Penticton to do some beer tasting and they included this gem within our itinerary and we're so happy they did! First things first, 5 stars on their service. Every staff member working here is the most friendly and genuine. We had the assistant manager greet us on arrival and he was so Incredibly lovely that we found ourselves at The Bench Market the following day as well to grab road sandwiches! The breakfast we had was hearty and kept us full for hours which is what I love about breakfasts like these! Everything they serve is locally sourced which I think is brilliant and they even have a little shop in the middle of the restaurant where you can purchase these items. I bought smoked paprika and real maple syrup because obviously! Also whomever is in charge of their seasonal drink menu does an absolute fantastic job, the creativity shows and everything we had was so delicious from that menu! Keep it up Bench Market! Stopped here for lunch after a walk through the wineries. We were not disappointed. Just healthy, great tasting food at reasonable prices. The latte's were perfect. We both had the beet quinoa burgers which were amazing. We were looking at some of the other tables and their food all looked good too. The tables were physical distanced and we felt the COVID protocols in place were satisfactory. We were pleased with our visit and imagine we will go again on this visit to Penticton. read more

This is always one of my favourite stops when I'm in town. First off the coffee is amazing, and they have a great and innovative food menu. They have breakfast items and I almost always get the eggs Benedict! When I'm not in the mood for brunch, I will also always get the Panini 's. My personal favourite is the chicken with Gorgonzola and some sort of apple compote? All of the menu items here are super fresh, flavourful, and most importantly support local farmers. It is a little bit more expensive compared to the average cafe, but in my opinion you are supporting local businesses and the quality is worth it! I also like to go through the shelves because they have lots of local products such as cheese, frozen foods like pot pies and soups, and okanagan salad dressings and dips. Burrito lacked flavor (even salt would have helped) and the salsa lacked spice. The iced mocha was very, very good. Decided to stop by this place this morning as we had heard great reviews from the locals in Penticton. The cafe opened at 8am and by the time we arrived at 8:15am the place was half full. We ordered take out as we were on our way back to Vancouver. I ordered the half chicken sandwich with half salad, and the boyfriend ordered the sicilian sandwich. We decided to get them grilled as they didn't look the greatest bit grilled. Both sandwiches were ready in 10 minutes as they were already made. The chicken was very flavorful as it had an apple chutney with chunks of apple in it. The sicilian was also very tasty. I wish both sandwiches had more vegetables in them like spinach as they were mainly little meat and bread. I also wish they didn't put so much oil on the paninis when grilling them. We came here twice on a recent trip to Penticton and left SO happy after each feasting. That's really what it was... a breakfast/brunch feast because there are so many deliciously tempting treats it's hard to not over order! Both mornings we got their breakfast burrito (without chorizo) and we haven't been able to stop thinking about this since. Definitely worth a try. We also had their breakfast sandwich, which was a bit puny, but maybe good for a child; and their breakfast waffles, which were an excellent portion size with lots of nice fruit on top. By far. The. Best. Cupcake. I've ever had. Ever. I had here. I don't even know the words to describe it, but the peanut butter chocolate cupcake that is "gluten aware" is just about the best thing in the world. I will never forget this cupcake. We also had a breakfast cookie, a blueberry muffin, and a chocolate brownie from here, which were all pretty good, but paled in comparison to that cupcake. There aren't many comparable options in the area, so this seems to be a local favorite and was packed to the gills on both our visits. Very tasty food! It looks like a ho-hum cafe from the outside but when you see all the cars parked up and down the street you know something's up. That something is very tasty food and coffee. I should have asked to swap the cheese out for a different kind of cheese because I apparently don't like cambazola cheese (personal preference). I had the pork sandwich, which turned out to be a riff on the flavour profile for a Vietnamese banh mi. It had pickled carrots and cucumbers, some cilantro, some fish sauce (a mild amount), and some grilled pork that had a bit of a Vietnamese flavour profile to it. Overall not a bad sandwich, although I would certainly take a banh mi from a good Vietnamese bakery any day rather than this interpretation that is priced double and is "just close" in flavour. On our way up to the Naramata bench, we decided to make a stop here for brunch. It's also a small market where they carry all your local food and picnic needs. Local cheeses from Upper Bench Creamery and Poplar Grove Cheese, bread, cured meats, crackers, honey and more; I basically wanted to buy everything. Order up front, grab a number sign for the table and pick a seat, then the food will be brought to you by one of their friendly staff. They have a lovely patio out front surrounded by flower planters. It also gets lots of sunlight. I got the smoked salmon benedict. This was delicious. I like the addition of spinach and capers, and their hollandaise was perfect. It comes with a side of roasted yams and potatoes, topped with some homemade tomato sauce. You can also get your coffee fix here as they serve coffee from Backyard Beans. The next day we came back for lunch once again, and this time I had the breakfast burrito. It's one hearty wrap, full of eggs, asparagus, fresh tomatoes, and a side of that delicious tomato sauce.
