I was so impressed by Beeracks! They had a variety of beers on tap, definitely something for everyone! It was Saturday afternoon without a beertender in sight, but when the beer guy came back up front with a new keg he was nothing but cool calm and collected. Taps weren't working great I guess, but he remained chill AF. It was everything I wish I could be in life. Great space with some games and just honestly a chill place with amazing beer. I can imagine in the summer it's even better.

    Outside patio. Good spot.

Clams on pizza...this sounded interesting enough to try. So we ventured out to the long venerated…read more(or so I understand) joint (some lady's name Pizza) only to find the line around the block. Clam pizza? Interesting but not that interesting. I had scoured Eater's New Haven section earlier that day and seen BAR mentioned for where to get apizza. We traveled into the quaint-ish New Haven core and parked on the street. Luckily, they had just opened, so we were seated upon arrival. We got two pies: the Clam Casino and the Portrait of New Haven. The PoNH was good. The ricotta was a nice contrast to the sausage and red peppers. The Clam Casino was worth the journey by itself, however. It turns out clams on a pizza is a great idea. Large whole clams and bacon with cherry peppers? Damned right. I wasn't familiar with New Haven brand ("apizza" as I've now been told), but the char on the bottom from the wood-fired oven is crucial at holding some topping combinations to a higher echelon than others (where it deflates others): see the other-worldly good Clam Casino versus this-could-be-better-without Portrait of New Haven. Regardless, the Clam Casino would be a go-to if I lived anywhere near here. The inside is huge. We sat in the main barroom. It was warehousey, but a pool table and picnic tables for large parties gave it a cool vibe. I enjoyed watching the bar staff have to hunch under the bar opening, which doesn't hinge up, as we waited for our discs 'o dough.

The portion was big considering the price (~$25 each). Service: one star Service was bad. The staff didn't introduce the food for us they just put the pizza on our table and walked away. Ambiance: one star We visited during Friday afternoon and there's no wait. The table was sticky and shaky. Menus were dirty with spills from drinks or sauce. Would give higher stars if service is better. The pizza itself was not bad.

Although chilly in here, we had a nice time. My parents loved the food too which was great. Tonight I got the Arepa which apparently, I won't get again because it's the second time I've had it (not here the first time) and didn't care for it. The pulled pork on top was good though I just don't care for the dish itself. A bit bland. My picture unfortunately didn't come out good for that dish. My dad got the Panko Crusted Fish Sandwich and my mom got the nachos. They loved what they got. I've been in the past and had the pizza, the poutine, pork belly sandwich, etc. I'd love to try the crab dip and whipped ricotta someday. Fun spot.

The Vermont Burger came with candied bacon, Vermont Cheddar, BBQ Sauce, lettuce, red onion and pickle on Brioche. I ordered it medium rare, it was closer to medium well, but the meat was high quality and it was a sizable burger. The toppings were good. I loved the onion rings. They were the thick kind, and well executed. They offered salt and vinegar seasoning, which I had never seen before for rings. Very tasty. The vibe is kind of dark inside. Service was friendly and efficient. 4 Stars

And now here I am asking all my friends "Did you know New Haven has some of the best pizza?!" I ordered via Uber Eats with delivery to my hotel. They messed up the delivery, so unfortunately the pizza wasn't piping hot once I finally found it. However, it didn't need to be. The flavor was a masterpiece! It was spicy, with just the right amount of cheese and sauce. The sauce was not the tangy cheap-tasting sauce that I sometimes stumble upon so I was happy about that. The crust was not hard, but not soft. I was pleasantly surprised that it had so much flavor, yet was not at all greasy. I wish I knew how to describe it better, but I guess you'll have to try it for yourself! ;)

Of course the pizza is awesome, it's what they are known for but the dam the Penne ala vodka is incredible! Brussels roots awesome! The garlic knots are so addictive! The mashed potato and Margharita pies are my favorite. The White Clam isn't the best but a good option as well. On one occasion I received a complimentary dessert by the owner which pretty much deals the deal on my returning. The hospitality is golden and I shall return.
