First off, the beer: it's stupidly good. Like, annoyingly good. The kind of good where you go in thinking, "I'll just try one" and then three flights later you're googling if it's socially acceptable to move into a brewery. Their IPAs actually taste different from one another (shocking, I know), the stouts don't drink like liquid bread, and even the lighter stuff has actual flavor. It's witchcraft, and I'm here for it. The vibe? Top tier. Inside feels like hanging out in your cool friend's garage--if your cool friend also had a professional brewing setup and knew what the hell they were doing. Outside, the beer garden is basically Milford's adult playground. Add in food trucks and you've got yourself the perfect Saturday. The staff? Friendly, quick, and actually seem like they enjoy being there. Do you know how rare that is? I've been to breweries where the bartender looked like I asked them to solve long division just by ordering a pint. Not here. At Tribus, they get it right. Choose from a number of items from their draft list or cocktails, non-alcoholics & more (they also have wine.) They also house two food trucks that are permanently installed on the grounds that are Nebco Kitchen that appears to have a rotating menu as well as Naples Wood Fired Pizza serving a variety of 12" pizzas who've been there for years. We were here for an event: The start and finish of Bikes & Beers 2024 (Brandford, CT). Bikes & Beers tours the country year-round, offering cycling events that revolve around--you guessed it--breweries. Over the last few years, we've enjoyed weekends away across New England when they come to our corner of the country. Their events are very well organized and fun, with a portion of the proceeds going to local charities. Plus, there's beer! After our 30-mile ride in and around Branford, we joined the other riders for the after-ride event at the brewery for food and fun. That's the formula for all Bikes & Beers events. Back to Stony Creek Brewery. As I said, the setting is idyllic for a warm, sunny summer day. However, you'd find limited indoor dining/drinking space on a rainy day. I enjoyed their seasonal IPA (the only beer I drink) and found it exceptional. My better half had the grilled chicken sandwich to satisfy her hunger while she ordered a chili dog for me. IT WAS HUGE (and delicious). We didn't get to try the other interesting items on their menu, but our fellow riders said good things about theirs. Plus, a permanent guest food truck serves wood-fired pizzas that look and smell fantastic. My mouth is watering as I write this. I'm not sure when we'll be back, but we bookmarked this location so we can have a similar bikes & beers experience on our own someday. We liked it that much!

Ordered a couple of the hot dog specials, a smash burger, wings, and pretzel sticks. The hot dogs, while creative, seemed to be a bit overcooked, possibly boiled and then left in a warmer for too long? The hot dogs themselves were a little discolored and more bland than we were expecting, and the pizza dough seemed a bit too large to serve as a bun for one special. Everything else was good for food, especially the smash burger and fries. My husband enjoyed his beers, and we thought the vibe was great. Appreciated the many different seating areas, and I'd love to sit in the beer garden with the train going by. Definitely a nice spot to watch the game or hang with friends.

A Wonderful Afternoon, a Disappointing Evening…read more We visited Elicit Brewing during Fairfield University's Family Weekend to celebrate our son's swimming championship. We enjoyed the atmosphere so much that we decided to return for dinner. My husband and I arrived around 7:00 PM and were already dining when our 20-year-old son and his girlfriend joined us at 7:45 PM. We were unaware that the venue became 21+ at 8:00 PM. Once informed, we understood the policy and simply asked for a few extra minutes for them to eat before leaving. We ordered additional food around 7:45 PM and were told it wouldn't be ready until 8:00 PM, when we would have to leave. Hoping for a little flexibility, we proceeded with the order. At 8:00 PM, the supervisor handed me the food in to-go bags and told us to leave. When I returned to our table and took out the food so they could eat quickly, he approached us again and insisted we leave immediately. Disappointed by how the situation was handled, I asked to speak with someone in management. Owen, one of the managers on duty, was professional, kind, and immediately allowed us to finish our meal. Unfortunately, by then, my son and his girlfriend felt so unwelcome that they preferred to leave. When I later expressed my disappointment, the supervisor responded with dismissive thumbs-up gestures that I found mocking. I appreciate Owen's professionalism. We fully respect the 21+ policy, but I wish the same courtesy and understanding had been shown from the beginning. It wasn't the policy that ruined our evening. It was how it was enforced.

For food, we shared the garlic Parmesan & herb wings, mango habanero wings and the Not-Zarella Sticks, which are fried pepper jack cheese served with roasted red pepper and Calabrian chili dip. The wings were hot and crispy and both sauces had good flavor. The place is pretty big and our service was attentive. Between the flights, food and live music, it made for a nice Sunday afternoon. I also grabbed one of their experimental beers from the fridge in the shop because it looked unique and I hadn't seen it before. The one thing we weren't crazy about was the bathroom situation. The upstairs bathroom was unisex and had one toilet, urinals and a baby changing area inside the 1 toilet stall. There's no lock on the main door, which made me uncomfortable, especially with men, women, and kids using the same bathroom. Other than that, we'd definitely come back. There are plenty more beers to try, and I'd be down for another flight and some wings.
