Bayou Cuban

How have not been here yet?? Stopped in for lunch on a random Tuesday. The place was open all to me and a cute older couple at the bar. I had one of the most unique and yummy Cubans I've ever had. It was huge and the sauce was amazing. The bread was perfect and the bit of N'arlens flair was evident and perfect! The fries were great too and the service was spot on. I'll be back with friends when I can put a proper dent into their menu.

Burnt corn bread

I ordered take-out of two catfish sandwiches, an order of fries with no salt and an Oder of corn bread. They said that the order would take 38 minutes to prepare. When I went to pick up the order I also added and paid for an ice tea and included a 15%tip for the take-out. The order took more than an hour to get ready which caused me to be late for a concert. The French fries were so salty that I only ate a few of them. No ice tea was included in my order and we were so late for the concert that I decided not to go back there for it. The corn bread was burnt on the top ( see the pic that I'm including. There were no napkins or cutlery included in the order. No one told me that fries were already included with each sandwich. The only god thing was the catfish. For $72(including a tip) I deserved a better experience.

Hands down best service I've ever had, can wait to come back just for Ques. Now as for the food PHENOMENONAL. We had the Gumbo, Pierogies, Brisket Mac, and Buttermilk Chicken. Every dish was Amazing !!

Oh my! Delicious! We shared the Fried Catfish with Collard greens with maple and rice. The catfish was cooked perfectly. The greens were delicious, with lots of flavor. The rice was good, a little spice for me, but he didn't think it was spicy at all. We ordered a side of the Brussels Spouts, absolutely delicious! Also, ordered a side of the cornbread, the best I've ever had. Cute little place, off the beaten path. They were kind enough to lower the radio. The waitress was friendly and attentive. If I didn't live 1.5 hours away, I definitely would be visiting a lot. We rated it a 5 star which we don't give out that much!

Their spin on southern food is fun and delicious. My wife and I have been 4-5 times and have always had a great experience.

Ask the Community - The Bayou

Does the restaurant have a full bar?

Yes they do.

Are there Happy Hour food specials and what are the Happy Hour hours?

I am not sure as we visited for lunch.

Do you offer gluten free options?

You'd have to ask. They have a lot of fried food, which likely isn't gluten free, but they do have some salads, gumbo, jambalaya, and oxtail that might be.

Finally got a chance to have dinner at Swift restaurant in the Wilbur Mansion. Swift has only been…read moreopen for about a year but I've heard a lot of nice things. I totally agree that the place is beautiful. The woodwork alone is very impressive and even though it's pretty big, felt very comfortable and cosy. The waitress was extremely nice and filled us in on the specials while talking our drink order. They have a huge selection of wines as well as a number of crafted cocktails. We ordered some cocktails and they were delicious. Then we started by ordering the Arugula salad to share. It was quite large so sharing was the way to go. It was really good with pears, raisins and blue cheese crumbles. They I got the Diver Scallops with Carrot Purée Risotto. Absolutely scrumptious! Swift is quite pricey but worth it for special occasions.

He said to my husband, "Your wife told us it's your birthday". The ambiance of Swift, is an elegant integration of old world charm with a touch of modern flair. Our server, Kevin, greeted us warmly as well, said happy birthday with a delicious glass of prosecco, for each of us. We each had escargot for an appetizer our entrees; duck with an orange glaze and my husband had the veal chop. The escargot and our entrees were beautifully presented and delicious. Dessert was a s'mores cake, which I took half home. As we were getting ready to leave our waiter brought a piece of chocolate cake for my husband to enjoy later. If you have a special event I highly recommend the Swift restaurant at The Wilbur Mansion - the experience is amazingly magical! PS they also have a "happy hour".

When we arrived and saw that they were in a shopping mall, we were thinking about looking for somewhere else.... Boy I'm SO GLAD that we didn't! We arrived around 12:30 and they were packed - we were able to get a table outside (bar and inside dining area were too noisy for us)! Our server, Ariana O. was great! My wife enjoyed her Flamingo Fandango drink ($ 14.50) with the Torta Ahogada ($18.95) - both were delicious but the sandwich was very messy - better eaten with a knife and fork - and absolutely delicious as were their French fries that she had! I ordered the Beef "Cubano" sandwich ($ 17.95) with a side of golden beets ($ 2.00 up charge) glazed with the same horseradish sauce that was on the sandwich (Ariana's recommendation). Both were wonderful and we shared tastes of each other's items! It was worth the drive up and the impending drive back!!! We also shared a Dark Chocolate Custard pie that featured an Oreo type of crust with whipped cream and shaved dark chocolate as a topping - it tasted wonderful but I felt a little on the small size for the $ 12.95 price! All things considered, I would make the drive again to go back to experience the other items on the menu but as was suggested, I would definitely make a reservation for lunch and definitely would for dinner! FYI: their menu is seasonal so you want to view it online before you go!

I was initially on the fence about it since its in a shopping mall surrounded by chain restaurants and a wax salon, but I figured if it looked bad inside there was a Smashburger nearby. How wrong I was! The inside is absolutely stunning, what a beautiful space. It took a while to be seated since it was a holiday weekend but when we did we had a beautiful view of an indoor sunroom. We got the potato pierogi to start, which was fantastic, and my dish was the tofu scramble (with fruit as a side). The scramble had a surprising sweetness that was not unpleasant and was quite a large portion. Our server was great but he had a very strong and vibrant personality - which I did not care for when I first sat down and was tired and hangry, but he was great and won me over at the end, haha. Anyway, try this place, its amazing and next time I am in Allentown I will be back for sure.

(It's also super-affordable -- less than $15 for both of our meals, including drinks.) The atmosphere is casual, comfortable, & a little jazzy; a piano (complete with tip jar), cozy couches, & a shelf of books say "Come hang out here." About 10 minutes after placing our order, the waitress came back & apologized for the "long wait." Within a few minutes, the chef (a wizened old Black man who lends credibility to the authenticity of the Soul Food) came out & apologized himself. A few minutes later, the waitress reappeared & offered us free chocolate cake "for the wait." Bewildered but delighted, my sister & I accepted. Arriving shortly afterward, the food would have been worth a longer "wait." I got the fish po' boy: fresh swai fish, breaded in-house with something delightfully spicy with fresh lettuce & a flavorful House Po' Boy sauce. The chips, also made in-house, are positively light (sliced quite thin) but also seasoned with spice. My sister said the fried chicken was "standard," but was impressed with the candied yams. Overall, it seems like a go-to place to hang out over coffee, chai, sandwiches, or soul food.
