I moved to Long Beach a little less than two weeks ago and the first thing I did was find myself a new Barre home and I'm glad to say The Bar Method LB is definitely that place! The staff is so friendly and warm and the owner Jo is even more amazing! The studio is beautiful and comfortable and very clean. The class flow is great and informative and the instructors give great feedback and corrections to ensure you are doing everything right. There are lots of positive affirmations being spoken and the music is appropriate and fun. I've loved the classes that I've taken thus far and I can't wait to keep coming back over and over again. read more

I started with the Bar Method on May 6. I am in my late 30s, haven't done any workout except my 1 hour walking exercise 3 times a week. I know I have very tight hamstring muscles as I can never reach my toes when I bend down. I was not expecting to like this class but I did give it a try because of the really good deal I got from livingsocial.com. It's been three weeks and I'm still going so I have to say, I love it! Venue: Parking is never a problem. Very clean inside, looks more like a spa. Lockers are clean and plenty. They have two shower rooms that I haven't used so I can't review yet. Keurig single serve coffee, hot and cold water for tea also provided. Classroom: Cream colored carpet, appears clean as participants are required to wear socks. Towels are provided. Extra low bars on 3 corners to give students like me a place to raise their tight hamstrings up when the regular bars are too much. Class size: I've attended a class as small as 6 students and as big as 18. Enough spaces for all your bending needs :) Instructors: I have seen all of them and ALL of them are super nice. They are all very pretty ladies and very pleasant. I do have to say, Kerry is my favorite, maybe because she was my first teacher and most probably because her bubbly personality is so infectious that you want to just do your best with a smile in your face even if your legs are dying! Saudia is my other favorite. She is the calmer one, she is like a yoga instructor, soft spoken and quiet. After three weeks, I still have tight hamstring muscles but I feel a lot more energized and inspired to be more active and eat well. read more

This is getting a 1 star for the simple fact that there is no sense of customer service, I bought my wife a 6 month pass for Christmas. We knew it was coming up to the 6 month end date. I noticed they tried to charge my card another $798 for another 6 months. I called right away and got the not so pleasure of speaking to a "Liz" who was short and frankly seemed like she may have been having a terrible day. After voicing my concerns she stated my wife had signed a document stating that there is a 30 day cancellation policy. I told her that my wife claimed that she hadn't signed anything... Fast forward the next day I get another call from Tracie, who claimed that there was nothing signed but that the employee clicks a check box that says the customer knows of the cancellation policy, which my wife said she never had said conversation. Once I told Tracie this she stated "Well I am calling to fix this and there was name calling that happened yesterday to one of our employees." Which took me aback because I only spoke to Liz for maybe 3 minutes before she told me she had to call Joanne to get information about this. Which got me a little perturbed and I told Tracie that whatever name calling that was claimed was a bold faced lie. And that how dare she call a customer that just spent almost $1,000 on classes and claim they called another employee a name. Which I would love to know what name that would be.... then she has the nerve to tell ME, the customer, that I am not being professional! Needless to say I am glad the 6 months is over so we can take our business elsewhere. The professionalism of this place is none existent. I have said conversation all recorded with Liz as well as Tracie. If you are looking for a Barre workout look elsewhere, they don't even have any goodies to give to customers that signed up for a 6 month class, not even a pair of $5 socks. This place is a joke. read more

After trying a few classes at Pure Barre, I thought barre just wasn't for me. Then I came to The Bar Method in Long Beach and LOVED it. What's amazing about this studio is that they have a beginner's class, with lots of personalized attention, so I don't feel intimidated by the advanced clients. It's an amazing workout that leaves me sore in muscles I didn't even know I had. The studio really values its clientele. I came here via ClassPass, and they learned my name immediately, and remember it each time I return. I also got a handwritten postcard in the mail after my first class, as well as a phone call a few days later from their front desk asking how I liked the class. The studio is beautiful, and there's also a ton of parking, especially on weekends. Can't wait to go back! read more

I have so much love for Jo and her team at The Bar Method Long Beach! Jo has done an incredible job at creating a beautiful community of strong and inspiring women and men. whether it is your first time coming to the bar method, or you've been coming for years, you really feel welcomed and part of the community immediately. the instructors do an incredible job at giving each student personal attention throughout the entire class by learning each student's name and by encouraging each student to challenge themselves. they are also there to make sure that you are in the correct position during each exercise. this personal attention makes me feel taken care of throughout class and also makes me feel like I am truly getting as much as I can out of the hour that I have dedicated to myself. I've always enjoyed hiking and being outdoors, but I've never had a gym membership, as the idea of working out in a gym has never appealed to me, but once I was introduced to the bar method, I had a completely different outlook on joining a studio. I fell in love with the exercise - the workout is consistently challenging, as they are always adding new exercises and classes, and I started seeing results immediately. I also love the support and friendships that I've made within the studio. every single woman, and man, that comes to bar is kind, inspiring and motivating, never competitive. I am always inspired by my neighbor in class. once I started coming regularly, it became easier to sustain, because I felt better, mentally and physically. the days I start or end with bar are truly my better, more productive, happier days, and physically seeing and feeling myself getting stronger and more flexible is extremely gratifying. what I also love about the bar method is that it helps turn down the volume from my working day and equally motivates me to start my day. it helps me be more present and gives me mental clarity and space when needed. Thanks to Jo, her team, and the bar method community, I always feel better leaving the studio than when I arrived. x read more

Bar Method Long Beach is AMAZING. I had never belonged to a gym or done group workout classes before I came to bar method. This studio was so welcoming and all the staff I have encountered have been extremely friendly. I was intimidated walking into my first barre class alone, but Jo made it feel comfortable and the beginners class was great. I love that instructors take the time during class to help you adjust your position and form to get the best workout you can. I've never been a dancer but I absolutely love this workout. I've only been here for a month but I know I'll be back for many more! Going to barre has become my favorite part of the day and I look forward to embracing the shake! read more

I have been doing Bar Method for 6+ years and it has totally changed my life. In college, I gained about 30 lbs and no matter what I did it just wouldn't come off! (I ran, did Crossfit, surfed, yoga, lifted weights... nothing worked). But when I finally tried Bar Method, I saw amazing results pretty quickly. I started to feel stronger and more toned within a couple weeks. Within a month my clothes was fitting dramatically different, and around month three I started seeing weight fall off. Now I've not only lost the college weight but I'm slimmer and fitter than I've ever been in my entire life. Unlike their knock-off counterparts, Bar Method teachers train for months and it shows - their speech, their demeanor and their expertise is clearly refined to communicate specific instruction. Update: I've now been doing Bar Method for 8.5 years and feeling stronger, leaner and more flexible than EVER! read more

Bar Method Long Beach is my favorite place to start my week, get extra energy. They offer a beautiful, clean studio with a lovely community of clients. All the instructors are well trained and they offer a variety of classes to get an awesome workout. I have been doing the Barre routine for over 3 years and I am still learning new things every class. The instructors keep you motivated as well as ensuring that you are keeping yourself safe during the workout. I have also been enjoying the workouts during my 1st and 2nd trimester of pregnancy. They offer great perks like coffee & tea, water and showers to freshen up afterward. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun and challenging workout. read more

I love BMLB! The front desk and instructors are amazing, helpful, and attentive. The classes start on time and all the instructors (and front desk) make an effort to know the student names, which is a nice touch. If you're new to Bar Method, be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes early to prep and get to know the space. Be sure to bring a pair of socks and have fun! read more

BAR method is a well structured, challenging sequence of unique exercises that will make you more flexible, stronger, healthier and firmer with every class your take. The Palos Verdes BAR Method studio is extremely welcoming and pleasant. The kind owner and staff, and caring, certified instructors will motivate you and have a genuine interest in your well being and perfect form. The studio's schedule offers plenty of classes throughout the day, seven days a week. Continued fun challenges will keep you competing with yourself and coming back for more. Recommend this place 100%. Give it a try and see for yourself. There are always short term specials where you don't have to commit for long in case it's not for you. read more

I've been going to the Bar Method Long Beach since November 2016 and I think it's fair to say I'm addicted. Prior to BMLB, I jumped from one barre studio to the next, but this is one of the first studios to which I've committed! The workout is killer- in the best way! It's completely personal, so you can match what your body is capable of each day and continue to grow, instead of plateau. All the lovely instructors understand what the move is meant to achieve and how. This is crucial, because even though barre is a high intensity and low impact exercise, it's still possible to hurt yourself with poor form. It's nice to have the coaching to ensure I'm keeping myself safe and maximizing the benefits of my time in class. I've seen a ton of positive benefits from regularly attending classes. I'm more toned and lean, I've lost some weight and maintained my weight loss. My posture is improving and I overall just feel better. BMLB has a great schedule with a wide variety of class times, so there's no excuse that there's not a class for you! I go to the 6 am classes often and it's a wonderful way to start my day. The studio is clean, welcoming and the staff are great. The classes are supportive, not competitive or judge-y, which can be a tough thing to find in Southern California in my experience! Overall, it's a great workout for anyone and I recommend it! read more

I started classes here a few weeks ago and have loved every single one! I've taken class from all instructors but one and they have been incredibly welcoming and helpful; I plan on taking class from any and all of them in the future. Even after a only a few weeks, the workouts have had a noticeable impact on my strength and body appearance. I highly recommended BMLB for anyone looking to try out a Bar workout. read more

I started Bar Method in June and have already noticed a stronger, leaner body especially in my arms and waist. I highly recommend this studio for those who are new to barre. There's even a class dedicated to new clients. The staff and instructors are very welcoming and super friendly. Everyone knows you by name and always greet you with a smile when you enter the studio. Come in and get your tuck on for a longer, leaner body! You can sign up for their newsletter for special promotions as well. read more

I just started taking classes here this month. After searching for years for a workout that I enjoyed I finally found the Bar Method in Long Beach. All of the instructors are nice, helpful and patient. I am always amazed that all of the staff remember and greet each client by name. The studio is very nice, clean and offers many amenities. Most of the classes are "mixed," meaning there are people with various levels of experience all taking the same class. However, the instructors work with new people and advanced people so that everyone can get the most out of their individual workout. I really enjoy the Bar Method workout and the Long Beach studio has a great, friendly staff and instructors, I highly recommend it. read more

The moment my husband said, "wow babe, your bootie is looking good!" I knew I had Bar Method to thank for that! While I'll never have a derrière like Beyoncé, I can confidently say that my body is the strongest and leanest it's been in years, and I'm proud of it. It's taken my yoga practice to the next level, and my posture has totally improved. Bar Method is truly the best barre workout I've tried, and that's mostly due to the attentiveness of all the instructors who always make sure you are in the proper form. The studio is super clean, and the bar tenders in the front are the sweetest. So thanks again Bar Method, and my husband thanks you too! ;D read more

I've been coming to BMLB on the weekends for the past year and love the community! The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. I started doing Bar Method 5 years ago and had to stop due to a surgery but wasn't too hard to get back to a routine and saw the results immediately. Best complete workout. I'm looking forward to becoming a full time student soon! read more

I started Bar Method in April of this year because I wanted to get toned for my upcoming wedding in August. When I first purchased a three class package I didn't know if I would continue and join bar but after the first class I was hooked. I love the atmosphere, the class structure, the friendliness of all the other members, the cleanliness of the studio and most importantly I love the changes I already see in my body. I can already see my arms, abs and legs becoming more toned and my friends and family have made comments as well. When I saw changes so quickly it motivated me to go more. Another thing I loved about Bar Method Long Beach is there was no pressure to join at all. I previously tried another form of group exercise and I felt like I was in a sales presentation and had to decide that day if I wanted to join. I can honestly say the staff was always nice and I never felt pressured.... plus they make it a point to memorize your name! Love it here and can't wait to keep going even beyond my wedding! read more

The Bar Method Long Beach Rocks! I walked in to this studio last November with a Groupon for unlimited classes and I've been hooked ever since. I didn't know anything about barre Pilates but I fell in love with using my own body weight to sculpt and shape my body while becoming stronger mentally and physically. The personalized attention that I get in this studio has kept me motivated to keep coming back to the Long Beach location even though I live in Orange County. The owner, Jo is an inspiration as a mom and creates a cozy and clean environment for her barre babies in the studio. We have coffee and tea to enjoy before or after workouts and a nice small retail area for extra socks and leggings. There are always fresh clean towels each day for your workout and all mats and small weights are provided. Workouts are as intense as the day I started because the instructors always keep you challenged to work at your personal full potential for the best results. I love the fact that they have several options for workouts throughout the day and with my membership I can bring 2 guests a month! read more

Best workout Ever!!!!! Bar method is addicting, fun, painful, makes me happy, muscles burn and I look forward to it each time! 3-4 times a week and you'll see results! Great teachers and good vibe! read more

I LOOOVE the Bar Method! Especially the Long Beach location! I guess I'm bias. They're all so friendly and nice when you walk in and the parking is really plentiful and easy. OK, enough about the logistics... The exersize is the most amazing thing you can do for your body. I have bad knees and cannot do high impact exersizes so this one suits me perfectly and the results I get are like no other work out I've ever done. I love all the teaching staff, they always make an effort to call you by your name and make you feel special. It's super challenging, I still struggle through a lot of it, but always feel so great afterwards and the motivation of knowing how much it's changing my body makes me able to power through. The best work out and experience ever!! I cannot say enough great things about this place. read more

This is the best workout ever! I have run in 4 marathons, including New York in 2011. I have been attending the Bar Method classes 3-5 times a week for 8 weeks. My thighs are both 1 inch smaller already....no running at all! This workout reshapes your body in a way no other workout can. Goodbye to "soccer-runner" legs. HELLO to dancer legs:) My entire body has slimmed down. JOIN BAR METHOD! Also, the owners, Andrea and Joanna are amazing! read more

I am in love with you Bar Method! I am a LS and groupon junkie, constantly trying different places as I love to stay busy and working out does help my mind. I have attended BM for almost a month and I really enjoy it. Its a different kind of workout, as I have been doing boot camp/boxing workouts for a while now, with an occasional yoga class here and there. Let me explain, I always hear that women don't bulk up blah blah...and I do buy that to a point, but I notice when I do a lot of heavy weight squats and lunges and a lot of boxing, I just get thicker. I should be burning fat and building muscle but for some reason, my body just looks bigger. I love that the work out at BM really does what it claims and I can feel it during and after the workout. I really feel the ab work and the legs workout is a delicious kind of pain ecstasy . My legs shake and I feel all my muscle cells firing away. But its not like a crazy calorie burner, but I do think my legs are toning up and I'm noticing that my "seat" is getting higher and tightening . ( but I have a ways to go!) Oh and the notorious "tuck" in all the classes are killers. But you know what, it really helps me with my posture, as I think about my "tuck" while I'm standing around during the day. But the best part about BM are the instructors, they all have amazing figures that as a thicker girl, I aspire to. The long lean legs are noticeable with the toned "seat". They really give detailed instruction on how to focus the particular workout, and they come around and fix your pose if you need it. The studio is clean, friendly and Aubrey is so sweet at the front desk. No attitudes and all kinds of people take the classes which is nice. Anyways, I think I have gone on enough about this place, you should check it out! read more

Bar Method Long Beach is AMAZING. I have been coming to class for almost a year now and am a true convert. The studio is beautiful and the teachers and desk staff are the best. Everyone at the studio is friendly, engaging, and clearly dedicated to making your experience at the studio a positive and fulfilling one. The exercises are challenging but the teachers words of encouragement and positive reinforcement makes you push through when the exercise gets tough. The results are awesome and keep me coming back for more! LOVE Bar Method Long Beach! read more

I can't say enough good things about this place! I've been going for a little over two years now. The front desk girls (and one guy) try and learn everyone's names and greet you by name when you come in. The instructors are all great and help make corrections so you can get the most out of each workout. Love coming here! read more

I've been going for 2 weeks now and I'll be honest, I had been a bit nervous. I have a bunch of friends who swear by Bar classes, so I figured I should check it out. I accidentally drove through their parking lot one night, as I have no idea they were there, and am I glad I did! Serendipity! The instructors are great, even for a beginner like me, and help you just enough for your skill level so that you're getting a good workout but not hurting yourself. I look forward to going, and my goal is 3-4 times per week, and also look forward to updating this review with my results! Thanks to all the trainers - you ladies have been fantastic! read more

I've been attending class at this studio 5 times a week since late January. I'm not an "exercise person" but you don't have to be in excellent shape when you start this workout to be able to make it through classes (I hadn't worked out since 2010!). Classes are in no way easy, but the instructors are caring and work with you and encourage you to make sure that you're doing the positions correctly. It really is a mind over matter type of exercise and if you have determination and are there to work then you'll get through the class no matter your age, shape, or size. The classes really are addictive and they go by really quickly, since they're only 1 hour each. I wanted to take classes to tone up, not to lose weight and that is the exact result that I've gotten. My arms and stomach now have definition, and I've lost inches around my waist, hips, and thighs. I started with a Gilt City deal and now I'm on the monthly unlimited, which is a bit expensive, but it also keeps you motivated to go once you see the charge on your account! I've brought every single person that I know in Long Beach to at least one class and continue to sing the bar method praises to people in other cities where there are studios. The combination of amazing teachers, a clean facility, friendly classmates, and a convenient schedule make The Bar Method Long Beach a wonderful place to patronize. read more

Super bummed because I love taking Barre classes.I decided to go back and took a few classes when I could make it and since I had gone previously received emails about qualifying for the higher level classes. I went for the first time to take the Bar Move class. When I went to check in Geanna told me I hadn't taken enough classes, when I said I received an email she accused me of lying by saying she had never heard of them sending an email. I got frustrated and the class had already started at that point so instead of taking it I just left. I couldn't believe I had been accused of trying to "sneak" into a class and she did nothing to accommodate. I had taken classes with Geanna when she popped in to other classes and noticed she was a little cliquey but this just really sealed the deal for me. Not down with the mean girl vibes. read more
