After years of searching for a Pilates studio I can call home, I came across LiveMetta & it really became my home studio! I did the $25 2 weeks unlimited offer they had and immediately fell in love with the studio itself & Pilates! I have taken a reformer foundation, reformer + and even a reform Sculpt. And all are absolutely great! They do offer mat Pilates only once a week though. Hina is definitely my favorite instructor here! She usually teaches Wednesday & Thursdays. I have taken her for reformer + & sculpt and I love her workouts! She is very nice, a GREAT instructor, and gets straight to the point. I am always swearing and feeling amazing after a class with Hina! It does suck that she's only there twice a week and I wanted to be consistent with Pilates. Sarah and Ashlee are also great instructors! SUPER helpful and really helps you understand the movements just like Hina. I wish all 3 were there more often so I can purchase a membership! I found LiveMetta Pilates on Classpass, and I assumed my friend and I signed up for a Pilates class but then we got there and it was a circuit class. Which was fine - but we were a bit confused there. Anyways, we had a fun time with the actual class because Trent was a funny and chill coach. He's also very cognizant of our posture and technique as we are going through the class. The playlist they had was an amazing mix of EDM, House, Pop, etc. that made the workout suck less. The parking was really easy to find, partially because it looks like the plaza is undergoing renovations. LiveMetta looked like it was one of the few businesses that were open on that side of the plaza. Everyone at the studio seem really sweet. It was a mix of people that have been students there for a while, but also new ones too. So everyone was super helpful if my friend and I had any questions. I have yet to go to a Pilates class here LOL but it was a fun circuit class and I'd recommend to check LiveMetta out! read more

This review is for both the trial period and the fitness-pilates combo membership I have as a beginner with no prior experience with pilates. New Member Trial Great new customer trial period rate for pilates at 2 weeks unlimited of $59. For my first week, I took one class a day, Monday-Friday, and then the second week, I doubled up on classes to get figure out what I wanted. They have morning and afternoon classes, but I can only make it here after 4:30 p.m., so I've been taking their 5/5:30/6 classes. Of course, all this was before they started offering their fitness classes as well. I came for one free new student orientation on Saturday (that you have to create an account and sign-up for) and Megan was great about teaching me the basics. I highly recommend trying this package out to see what classes you want and with what instructors. Fitness-Pilates Combo (8x/month) From August 2023, they started offering separate fitness package, as well as fitness-pilates combo packages, and I wanted to do that, so I enrolled in the Founder's Special fitness-pilates combo for 8x/month (4x pilates and 4 fitness classes) for $149. The pilates classes have a limit of 10 members, so some specific times (afternoons for me) do fill up quite quickly, causing waitlists to occur. The few times I was on a waitlist, I ended up coming off of it (because someone else cancelled), so it worked out alright for me in the end. The fitness classes have a limit of 20 members, but they are more accessible - I haven't seen any waitlists for those classes yet, but this programme did just start. All the instructors I've worked with are pretty awesome and do genuinely work with you to get you ready for these classes. Marie, Sarah S., and Carrie all made sure that my posture were right and gave feedback to me (as well as other members in the studio) when appropriate/necessary. I geniunely enjoy the classes and instructors here, so I recommend it. The reason for the one-star loss is the cancellation policy; you have 12 hours prior to the start of your class to cancel without a $10 penalty, but that puts me at a disadvantage because I take classes after 5 p.m. (which means I have to cancel before 5 a.m. that morning, when I am still sleeping. It's a high penalty for such a long wait time. There is a waitlist for certain classes as they fill up fast, and you'll know if you're off the waitlist that morning of the class in case people cancel overnight, but let's say you're off that waitlist (that early morning), you'll still be responsible for the cancellation fee if you can no longer enter that class. I have had a hard time reaching them when I call and end up getting a text message letting me know that someone will call me back if I leave a detailed message. If the waitlist becomes available 4 hours before the class, someone will call you to inform you that you're on the class list. They're still working out a better system, but something to keep in mind as you're evaluating your choices. read more

I started coming to LiveMetta at the start of the year. I took advantage of their two week trial membership for $29 and was able to take 5 classes that fit into my schedule. I hadn't don't reformer Pilates in about 4 years, so I made sure my first class was the orientation class. Claudia taught it, and it was great meeting an instructor and having a small, intimate way (just me and another new student) to have a refresher on moves, techniques, switching gears, etc. I signed up for monthly Pilates classes and have loved taking a wide range of days and times to work with various instructors. So far I've just done the foundation class (for beginners) and I'm looking forward to leveling up to plus (intermediate class). All of the instructors are positive, approachable, helpful with gentle corrections as needed, and have great music on the playlist to keep class fun! read more

I love the instructors and the classes however they do have a harsh cancellation policy at 12 hours prior which is a bit unrealistic at times (ie. say you have a 5pm class you would have to be up before 5am to cancel that day). And even if you're trying to switch a class to a different one same day they will still charge you the $10 fee. If you get off the waitlist into a class within the 12 hour window and it no longer works for you, you are still responsible for the $10 cancelation fee. I've even tried to call them directly to assist and they just say "it's the way their system works". I'm debating if this facility is right for me with their strict policy that is becoming more of a hassle and an added expense with fees on top of the membership than an fun way to get a workout in. read more

I discovered this studio back in May when I moved back to LA county. I was looking for a Pilates studio and at the recommendation of a friend I came to this location. I came for the Pilates but stayed for all the different types of classes they offered!! They offer reformer Pilates, barre, cross training classes, spin, trampoline, and Trx classes. All the instructors have their own way of making a class challenging yet fun. I sometimes go crazy and take 3 classes in one day!!! You have to sign up for classes in advance because they fill up, but for me this is perfect, because I now have a commitment and I don't like to break those commitments! I know nothing about pilates, but a friend of mine goes here weekly. I decided to try it out, but if you want to use the reformer, you have to take an orientation session. I did the session and had a subsequent private to follow it up. The workout was interesting, and I found alot of the poses and breathing mentally challenging. HAHAHA. I had to concentrate and focus on multiple things at the same time, which was quite difficult to do! Unfortunately I've had a lower back injury, and this seemed to only aggravate it, so I haven't been back, but I still recommend it to others. read more

I find the Pilates studio to be very integrative, have safe practices, and are professional. I am a former Dancer and Body Builder so, essentially a Fitness gym rat but, also, love Pilates and Yoga. I am dealing with some old and new injuries so, I have put the Fitness gyms on hold and checked into John Garey Fitness & Pilates Studio. What I have grown to love about this place is that I can still get a good workout while rehabilitating my injuries so, I can keep moving. There are many different types of classes at all different times of day. I love the reformer classes! They have different levels so you can keep your workouts at a level that works for you. After a slipped disc injury last Nov., I need to make some serious lifestyle changes and improve my overall health and body. Especially strengthening my core to help protect my back. I randomly found John Garey and decided to give it a try. I wanted to see how the instructors and place was before writing a review. it's now been almost 2 months since I've been coming to JG, and it's definitely a little slice of heaven. I haven't worked out in like 20 years....so this was all very new to me. I signed up with a trial Personal Trainer (Chase) to see how I liked the program/trainer. I specifically picked Chase since he had a background in Kinesiology with a focus on Fitness. I was confident that he would make sure that I was working out properly without hurting my back. He is amazing! After my trial, I signed up for another 8 private sessions then another 16 sessions. =) Since training with him, I am now able to move freely without pain. I am stronger and more fit where I can actually carry my twin 5 year old girls without any problems!!! I definitely have more energy now. In addition to the private training classes, I signed up for the 2 week group fitness trial session which I called the buffet. Consume as much as you want for only $29! I literally came everyday for 14 days~!! With my back injury, it's been hard to find a good workout/cardio program until I discovered their Spin Classes. OMG! I am hooked! It took some time to slowly build up the endurance for the 50 min. classes, but in less than 4 classes....I was able to ride the full 50 minutes with no problem. I love these classes! Everyone must try. Now, the instructors. wow. it's like disneyland for adults. everyone is so nice, friendly, helpful, and so attentive. You never feel lost or embarrassed to ask for help. All of the instructors I've had so far have been amazing. Very motivating and supportive. They spend time with you to make sure that you're doing things right and as efficient as possible to make sure that you're getting the most out of your work outs. Their online reservation system is simple and very easy to use. The site lists out all of the upcoming classes and space availability. It's very easy to reserve a spot with 1 click. If you don't have time to make a reservation online, you can just call and save a space in any of their classes with the front desk. The online portal even keeps track of your visits and membership information. Finally, the best thing I love about JG is that it doesn't feel like a super impersonal large gym. It's very boutique like with great prices. With every visit, the entire JG team makes you feel like you're part of their family. Immaculate and well designed facility, modern and well maintained equipment, and the staff is knowledgeable, phenomenally trained (including anatomy) and encouraging. The instructors PAY ATTENTION. Your form is corrected, you are taught how not to be injured or strained, and you get results. Much appreciation for the range of pricing and specials!! I can't say enough good things. Even the website and scheduling system are first rate. Yes, you will be charged for cancellations within 12 hours of the class or by not showing up. I'm glad even though I've been charged for a late cancellation. When I want to get in a class and there is a wait list, I don't appreciate that someone didn't show up and that seat was un-used. I've been going for just about 3 weeks now and I have to admit, I'm very impressed. They've got some really talented pilates instructors that genuinely help you get the most out of your workouts. So far, for mat classes I've had Bridget, Michelle, Jamie - and for reformer classes I've had Danielle, Heather, and Joe. They're all phenomenal, seriously. Price is on par with what you'd expect from a higher end studio - $8-15 for mat classes and $20-35 for equipment. But the only way you can get the $20/class for equipment classes if you buy in a 40 block... and I do not have $800 to drop in advance. But if you have the cash, it's actually an amazing deal. Mat classes during the evening always fill up fast so if make sure you reserve in advance online before, otherwise you'll be waitlisted. In the 6:30pm Power Matwork class, it's totally crazy - people running all over the place getting their equipment and reserving their space. It's a good vibe though. Generally, the teachers are good with beginners and give you modifications but it's always best to arrive early to get a spot at the front of the class and tell the instructor you're new. Equipment classes required a $40 1-hour long orientation so just be aware of that (their system won't let you register online for an equipment class until you've fulfilled your orientation requirement). Just give them a call to schedule. I'm someone who definitely hates working out... but somehow this place keeps me coming back for more! read more

I like this studio. I stopped going because my fitness A.D.D. led me to other places, however I was a regular here for several months and have taken many exercise classes with various instructors. The team at John Garey Pilates is awesome. You will work hard and be sore the next day regardless of your fitness level- trust! If you can get a class with John please do. He's a star. I really like the use of different work out equipment used during class- bands, weights, ball, bosu, weighted balls, etc. It keeps things fresh and moving, plus you see results fast. The reformer classes are very pricey but super amazing. I love the reformer because it reminded me of ballet class. I took some personal one to one sessions for reformer too, which were also pretty expensive, but I found that experience to be quite marvelous. If money were no object, this would be how I'd stay fit, but at around $85 per hour- well, my personal trainer costs about half that... Over all the equipment, space, music and instructors are stellar but costly, however the clients are a little fancier too... read more

Okay, I think I'm in love with this place. I must admit, I'm a group class junkie. I love exercising and I'm always open to trying to new classes and techniques to improve my fitness knowledge. I've tried all sorts of different classes from barre, trx, spin, piilates, yoga, etc you name it I've tried it! When I stumbled upon John Garey's website, I was soo impressed! They had multiple classes all in one facility! Barre, trx, pilates reformers, pilates mat, and more! Such a vast selection of classes that you can definitely switch it up during the week! I've only taken a few classes here but so far I'm loving them! All the instructors are super nice and they're very experienced and knowledgeable. One thing a lot of people need to know is that they are all trained by John Garey and they are all STOTT pilates certified. So there is a difference in the methods if you've been at other pilates classes who are certified by different trainings. But, these instructors know their stuff and I love how they're all concerned with perfect form and fitness. My favorite class here are the pilates reformer classes. They definitely give you a workout! The reformer + and the jumpboard series are super fun! It doesn't even seem like you're working out but you'll definitely feel it the next day. Also, their pricing here is very reasonable!! Normal pilates studio charge up to $50 a class!! There's no way I can afford that! Another great thing I like about John Garey is how many classes they offer throughout the day. I have a wacky work schedule so I love when there's plenty of options to at least get one class a day. If you are looking for a place to do pilates, this is it! They have amazing instructors. All are very encouraging and patient, even if you are inexperienced. Their classes are great! They offer group equipment, mat and spinning classes. The classes seem a bit pricey if you look at taking just one, but if you buy a block it works out to a very good price. To be honest, I have compared their prices to other places, and John Garey is less expensive than most other places. Also, they offer a student discount with lower prices, if you're still in school. My friends say I am crazy. I call myself an exercise enthusiast! I am very happy to have found John Garey Fitness. I started out with the two week special and I am hooked. Such a variety of classes and highly qualified teachers. I know because I used to be a personal trainer and have just a little bit of experience taking classes, sometimes three classes a day. The facility is clean, classes are well organized and timely, all staff and trainers are friendly and attentive. My favorites are JGX train, spin and boot camp but all the classes are good. Whatever your level of fitness, this is the place to go. Everyone mixes in well and there is more than enough classes to keep you challenged and interested. I loved the workouts and group classes. My favorite was the HIIT class. It was very challenging but it pushed to a level that I didn't know I had in me. Susan from the front desk is very approachable and on my first day she gave me a tour of the facility and made me feel very comfortable. I haven't returned only because their after-hours package didn't have enough classes to make working out there worth it. The facility was very clean, the patrons take pride in the building and clean up after themselves. The trainers are helpful and encouraging. You would think that John Garey, with all of his success in the fitness industry would be partial to only the regulars or be a little snobby BUT HE IS AMAZING ATTENTIVE and SWEET. I remember the first time I took a Sculpt class and John Garey looked at my weights and looked at me and said "I think you need some heavier weight" and he was right!! He challenges you and makes you feel like you are part of the group even after one visit. It is a bit pricey but you are paying for the expertise and the state of the art equipment. This review is for the JG UFC Program and the studio as a whole. This is an awesome program with wonderful coaches/trainers (Joe, Todd, Alexen, Ricca, Lindsay & David) that will surely challenge you! Their classes are upbeat, go by fast and I can assure you that you will get a great work out no matter who your trainer is! They will work around your injuries, offer you fitness and diet advice and challenge your fitness level. If you're looking for variety, then this is it for you. Because of my work schedule I am unable to take a lot of the classes they offer during the day. I specifically chose the night team to better fit my schedule. Because of this program I am able to try out a variety of different exercises utilizing equipment I've never had before (TRX, Bosu, toning balls, ankle cuffs, and more) with different instructors... It an intense program. Each week gets harder and harder, but you'll soon learn that your body is stronger and stronger each week! I'm on my fifth week and I am already seeing results.
