I discovered Happy Lifts driving past a free park session she was hosting! Serbrina is the sweetest ever and let me join without having signed up or even knowing anything about the class - just an interest in strong women lifting together. Needless to say, I had a great intro session with her. From then on I have signed up for multiple sessions at the Happy Lifts gym with Serbrina, and she has been an amazing coach/trainer every time. Her style is encouraging and empowering and makes me want to be better everytime I show up. She has different classes targeting the upper and lower body, and she has also hosted online courses for those who are still gym shy and want more information to build up confidence and knowledge. Eight months or so ago, I was looking to find a gym and trainer that focused on safely training with free weights for strength, mobility and overall health with positivity. The bigger gyms are intimidating. I found what I was looking for and more in this little women's-owned gym called Happy Lifts, and Brina. I knew it the minute I met her. She is an expert in her craft and she gets just as excited to see each lady improve and love lifting in the same way she does. I have seen improvements in my overall strength and health that I never thought possible, and it's so much fun. We work out in small groups, and each woman has their own individual goals. Brina is always there to ensure we are doing each exercise correctly and safely, increasing weight gradually to each person's ability and individual goal. There are women in their 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, and me, in my mid-70's. I am finishing Happy Lift's three-month program and am delighted with the results. I kept hearing that one of the best actions women can do for their long-term health was resistance training, but I had no idea how to start, and honestly, the idea seemed boring. After moving to Long Beach, I was delighted to meet Serbrina, the owner, at a Rose Park Neighborhood Association-sponsored event. Her positivity and commitment to women's health and well-being are authentic, and I leaped into unknown territory. When I signed up, life had thrown some unexpected curves my way, and I wasn't particularly feeling very positive. I was curious when she talked about the mind-body connection and how becoming strong with weight correlated to being strong as we face life's challenges. But now, I am fully on board with it, as workout after workout I faced the rest of my day feeling more in control of my life and empowered. I also noticed a difference in carrying groceries and moving furniture and boxes. It is great, and I love feeling stronger. I did the beginner 3-month plan (super affordable and great value) at Happy Lifts and I'm so grateful to have found this space that's run by the most uplifting, energetic, and positive human named Serbrina.
