As others have mentioned, the fish sandwich is STACKED with a generous amount of fish. I actually removed some of the fillets just to be able to hold it and eat it as a sandwich. No worries, my other half was happy to eat the rest of my fish which, in my opinion, was easily enough for a second sandwich. Anyway, the oysters were also delish! Flavorful and only wish there was more. If you don't feel like dropping $16+ on the oyster dinner, there's also a sandwich option for under $10 (we didn't notice that option until after we ordered though). If there's anyone in your group that's not a fan of seafood, there's also chicken sandwiches. We tried the mushroom bites which were ok but we probably wouldn't order those again. They have gone down hill over the years! Only on occasion do we get lucky and get a decent fish sandwich. Either the fish was sitting around after being fried and tasted off and looked transparent instead of white. The last time out there we ordered two fish plates and the coleslaw had started to sour. I went to the window to let them know and they were getting the coleslaw from a plastic bucket that was being stored on a lower shelf on a work table. Coleslaw will sour in a warm kitchen quickly. They brought us a cup of slaw that was obviously from a colder container but it too was starting to sour. Next time we will omit the coleslaw from the planned meal. On our initial visit we relied on Yelp to tell us where to find a good fish sandwich on our travels, and this one came on top. And boy, it steered us correctly. Anytime we're in the area, this is the place to be. We've never had anything other than the Fish sandwich or hamburger (Teen), but if you are looking for a fish sandwich, you won't be disappointed here. The sandwich is a two-hander, or maybe more. Be sure to grab a fork for all the yummy fish that falls off. And you can't beat the price. You order at the counter and can either take it to go or sit on one of the covered picnic tables. If you are hungry and you want a fish sandwich and you have a cast iron digestive system, then the Bantam Chef Famous Fish Sandwich is for you. It is really big. I could not count how many pieces of fried fish are in this sandwich but it's a lot. To be honest, it's not really that greasy (to their credit), but there are just so many pieces of fish in there, that even a small amount of cooking oil per piece adds up. I was able to monitor the location of that sandwich in my digestive system over approximately 11 hours. Probably good to bring a fork as the sandwich sort of loses structural integrity as you eat it. No need to order the hush puppies. No flavor and I'm going to go out on a limb and say they might be from a restaurant supply company. Nothing about them was remotely flavorful. Good luck. read more

I was looking forward to the Famous Fish Sandwich as the reviews on Yelp were great and the pictures certainly made the sandwich appealing. However, I was deeply disappointed. While the sandwich was a monster as the pictures reflected, the fish pieces were so thin and dry they were just plain chewy. Many were not edible so I removed them and tossed them in the trash. I finally resorted to tearing the bun into pieces and just eating the pieces that had some tender flesh still attached. The few pieces of fish I had that were tender was breaded nicely, the fries were uneventful but okay and the slaw had just a touch of sweet. Just go for the giant fish sandwich, not sure how they make any money with the amount of fish on this thing. I'm 6'2",250 lbs and I have trouble eating the whole thing. Tried their wings and asked for hot, they came through with a special hot sauce, not lightening how but the hottest I've found in Florida so far.
