Seared tuna appetizer with wasabi mayo and seaweed salad
    Meagan E.

You basically feel like you're eating on the beach at Snack Jacks. It has a very fun and coastal feeling about it. The food was very good. Very casual plating, but the flavor there! I got the tuna app as my entree and it was more than I could eat! Very tasty.

The mahi-mahi was grilled perfectly, could use a tiny bit more seasoning but it was still great! Very juicy and breaks apart easily

Not only are you required to have cash, they bully you into valet parking. You have no choice! I will NEVER give this place a penny!

Not many people out n about so I couldn't really get a vibe for what the place would be like when it gets busy. But it was a great spot for breakfast and we sat on the rooftop area inside so it was covered from the rain, but I can't wait to go back someday for the outside ocean front deck, even closer to the water. I ordered the Irish Benedicte with hash that is homemade on premise with slow roasted corned beef. Very tasty. The side of Home fries were thinly sliced and I had gravy added to that so it was tasty too. Our server was excellent, Trevor was a very nice guy and he recommended we come back for the all you can eat ribs. I wish I was staying in town longer and I would. I'll make a point to come back next visit.

Wasn't sensational. The bruschetta was very good. My husband enjoyed his fish sandwich. The manager killed a huge beetle that was on the ceiling. Just glad it didn't take flight. The manager took our 2 dishes off of our bill. What's outrageous is that they charge a 2.9% service fee when using a credit/debit card. That's not posted anywhere. Our server,Sage, she was sweet. Will we go back? Definitely no. Too many other places to try.

The clam chowder was rich, hearty, and loaded with clams and other delicious ingredients. We also took advantage of their happy hour special with $1 raw oysters, which were fresh and delicious. The fried fish and fried shrimp specials were both excellent--lightly battered, perfectly cooked, plump, and juicy. We paired everything with a couple of beers and sweet tea, and it made for a fantastic meal. The service was outstanding. Lauren, our server, was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Brian and Mama were also so welcoming and accommodating, making us feel right at home. We really enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere, the clean restaurant (including the spotless restroom), and the background music, which was at just the right volume. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommend Macker Seafood if you're looking for fresh seafood, great service, and a relaxed dining experience!

We had chowder, raw oysters, lightly blackened mahi-mahi and peel/eat shrimp. No complaints with any. Peel/eat shrimp came with potatoes and corn, too-- nice surprise. Mahi-mahi came with tasty fries. Just a simple little place with basic menu; I guess I was hoping for a bit more variety and different dishes, this being the 3rd day of seafood fest! No complaints at all, but there are other places in the area with very good seafood, full bar, seating on the water, etc. (I thought this place could probably charge much more, being just as it is, if it were anywhere near the actual beach or waterway).

Second visit to Next Door Beach Bistro and once again -- phenomenal…read more Last night I ordered the Beef Bourguignon with cream potatoes, and it was everything this classic French dish should be. The beef was incredibly tender, slow-braised in a rich red wine reduction with pearl onions and mushrooms. The cream potatoes underneath were smooth, buttery, and perfect for soaking up that sauce. Every bite was delicious. We started with the Filet Carpaccio, thinly sliced and topped with shaved parmesan, capers, arugula, and crostini. Fresh, light, and beautifully plated. The bar program deserves its own mention. You can order a vodka soda anywhere, but here they elevate every drink with presentation and detail. Instead of a simple lime wedge, I watched drinks come out with full lime rounds resting on the rim. My Chocolate Martini dessert drink was practically artwork -- topped with a dehydrated orange slice, chocolate shavings, orange zest, and crossed chocolate-dipped sticks. It looked incredible and tasted even better. Atmosphere is another win here. Guests ranged from cocktail dresses to casual beachside attire and somehow it all fit perfectly. That balance is hard to achieve, but they've nailed it. We sat on the patio (about 67°) and they had the panels down, which kept it comfortable while still letting you enjoy the beachside atmosphere. Even the hallway to the restrooms was lined with art -- thoughtful details everywhere. Some restaurants look great but don't deliver on flavor. Others taste great but lack atmosphere. This place does both exceptionally well. Dinner for two with drinks came to $131 before tip, which felt very fair for the quality of food, cocktails, and overall experience. Looking forward to visit number three.

Looking for a fresh seafood restaurant with wild-caught shrimp and raw oysters near the beach?…read more Surprisingly, not this place. The name 'Turtle Shack' does not carry any significance. We did have clam chowder minus the clams and bits of potato normally found in most every clam chowder. It was essentially a milky broth. The fish sandwich was good. Our choice of Mahi was a nice-sized portion-control piece that had no doubt been purchased and delivered frozen, but to be fair was cooked to our liking. And it came with a large serving of crisp tasty fresh fries. The french dip sandwich was also pretty good. Plenty of shaved meat and a nice pineapple slaw side was more than enough to satisfy us. No complaints unless you thought clam chowder actually oughta have clam and potato in it, or if you were planning to enjoy fresh FL seafood at the 'Turtle Shack'. Instead, enjoy the burgers and the wings and the portion-control fish sandwich and the french dip and ignore the mis-leading name out front.
