Yesterday, I went with My Mom all the way to Orange County because she had a skincare appointment and Botox treatment. I had never tried Botox before in my life, but I decided to get it for the first time yesterday as well. I don't think the results have shown yet, so I'm planning to post a review once they do. Since we were already in Orange County, we stopped by a bakery at the Source Mall. I bought several pastries there. The fresh cream bread was very delicious. I didn't try the custard cream bread because my younger brothers ate it, so I can't really comment on the taste. I also haven't tried the pecan pie yet. Lately, Dubai chocolate cookies have been extremely popular and trendy, so I asked whether this bakery had them. They said yes, so I bought one for $6.75. However, when I tried it this morning, it was absolutely not a Dubai chocolate cookie. It was basically just a chocolate pie. There was no pistachio flavor at all, and no pistachios inside--just a very ordinary chocolate pie. That part was extremely disappointing. Also, yesterday I asked the bakery if they could provide paper plates so we could cut and share the pastries, but she said they didn't have any. Other bakeries usually provide paper plates, so it was disappointing as well. read more

Omg everything was so cute at this bakery! This is located in the food court area at The Source. The doughnuts looked so cute we had to try!! We got the strawberry cream one and I thought it would be light and fluffy but it was kinda dense?? Still pretty good and the cream reminded us of strawberry pocky cream. The match creme brûlée one wasnt that special to me but I think I'm generally not a big fan of doughnuts. I do think a lot of these baked items are pretty pricey but they all look cute. read more

The BAKERY is on the 3rd floor of The Source within their cute food court. I read up a bit and it's been family owned for over 10 years here now! Love supporting local! I've been here several times now and had varying levels of friendliness from the staff. However, they are always well stocked with tons of goodies of which I always buy many. I'm not a big fan of their cookies as they are a bit too crisp for me, but the flavor is very tasty and I'll get them in a pinch. And aside from the cookies, everything I've had from here has been stellar. In particular, they're known for their Gombo and no, they're not full of nola shellfish. These are gOmbo donuts not gUmbo donuts. :) It's a deep fried soboro bread (streusel-like upper crust popular in Korea), filled with either red bean or sweet potato. You must try these. I had no idea this little bakery shop was located in the Source of OC, but it's one of my new favorite spots! There's plenty of room inside, with lots of tables and chairs; long tables, short tables, or high chairs near the windows. I didn't get a chance to try any of their specialty drinks, but I enjoyed both pastries I bought. The ambience is nice for studying but also if you just wish to stop by for a chat. I passed by on a Monday night, so it was pretty slow, but the guy at the register was very quick and helpful. I'm sure they get packed once it starts to reach the weekend. This hidden gem is tucked away in the food hall at The Source plaza, and I'm so glad we came across it. I was too full from dinner, but I grabbed a s'mores cookie to go. The pastries and desserts here are really yummy so I thought I'd try a drink from here too. The matcha is quite literally worst thing I've ever tasted from anywhere. It straight up tastes like window cleaner chemicals and was burning my mouth!!!!! I thought I just hadn't mixed my drink properly and took another sip or two, but no. I don't know what's going on with that but I am never purchasing a drink from here again because how does a matcha latte burn my mouth? The strawberry cream cheese bread had 3 little buns connected to it so it's easy to peel apart and share. The filling is delicious! The pizza bread is the most savory out of the choices we had and it was filling but I would go for seconds! The sausage bread is very standard. Bread and sausage, simple, but it works. The sea salt chocolate croissant is so good. When you take a bite of the bread that has the sea salt on it, oh man, it's game over. We're not sharing anymore. Last but not least, the creme brulee donut was good, and it was humongous. It has a custard filling inside and it was coated in sugary goodness. I've never had Korean donuts until recently. I saw a reel on Instagram and I had to come, so that same week I convinced my husband to take a trip to Southern CA for the day so we can check these amazing looking treats. When we got there, the lady in the back of the counter told me they didn't open until 11am so we waited patiently and as soon as they opened I got in line. We probably splurged a little and grabbed almost every flavor to try. We didn't try them in one go and it actually took us a few days, but it was totally worth the trip. My favorite was definitely the strawberry cream one. That cream was like a fluffy taste of heaven. I also loved the other flavors, but that one was definitely on the top of my list. I will definitely be back to try the other flavors that I did not get to try. I wish they had something like this in Bakersfield, but for now I guess I have to drive 2hrs away to get this deliciousness. The cream is not super sweet, but it has the right amount of sweetness that makes you love it. Staff was nice, I didn't talk to them much and it's probably because their lines start getting super long as soon as they open and they don't have time to talk to anyone, but they are quick and everyone behind the counter is working diligently and lots of teamwork going on back there. They also have their regular baked goods on the floor, but their specialty cream baked goods are behind the glass counter. There's lots of tables since it's at a food court and there's also some places to sit outside. Yozm's donuts have altered my brain chemistry! I was not prepared to stop by here and try some of the best donuts I have ever tasted in my life! This spot is located in the food court on the 3rd level of The Source OC. There is free underground parking with tons of parking spots. Once you park, you're gonna want to run, not walk, to the 3rd floor and into the food court. Their donuts tend to sell out fast so first come first serve. Wifey and I came later on during the day after we had lunch so most of the their selection was already picked through. Fortunately for us, there were a couple donuts left and we got the matcha brûlée and the kaya coconut butter. By no means am I exaggerating when I say that the kaya coconut butter donut was one of the most uniquely delectable donuts I have ever tasted! Overall, this spot is a gem within The Source. The staff here are very nice and welcoming. They have tons of different pastry options but I would say the donuts are the star of the show. Like a Paris Baguette or a Tous les Jour, but pricier. Well one day, we were eating lunch at The Source and saw one of their A-frames advertising their trendy cream-filled doughnuts. It looked good, so we decided to splurge and get a few for dessert. You'll find all your typical loaves, cakes, cream puffs, croissants, cookies, and other pastries at The BAKERY. They are mostly known for their soboro / gombo 빵, which is basically a Korean streusel-like bread. But today we were on a mission to try their Yozm ("yo-jeum") doughnuts. Barely any doughnuts in the display case, and they were out of the flavors we wanted. The next batch was going to be ready in about thirty minutes, but we didn't really care enough to wait. Ended up choosing three from whatever they had left. Boxes are available for four or more. The Milk Cream filling is airy and pillowy! Not as dense compared to regular custard and not so sweet compared to whipped cream. Grab a few napkins because it comes with a lot of filling. The actual dough of the doughnut was nothing remarkable but I appreciated that it was not so sweet too. The powdered sugar peach doughnut had a pleasant natural-tasting jam inside. Came back and was able to catch their cream donut on a weekend at 3pm! So lucky. They were also making fresh donuts in the back. Unlike population media I actually prefer their mochi donuts way more. It has a nice crunch and chew that reminds me of sesame balls and the fillings are more balanced to the density. I got the sweet potato combo crunch and it was amazing, sweet crunchy cookie coating with some bits of salted roasted almonds that paired with a sweet potato and chewy donut interior. They had a good selection of pastries and dessert as well as a mini station with coffee condiments, straws, & napkins on the side. However, the plastic forks and knives had white spots all over them which seemed like dust so I wouldn't use them if possible but if you do, make sure to wipe them thoroughly. Matcha Brulee Donut ($4.75): This is a brulee donut stuffed with matcha cream and was the better of the two we tried. We loved the matcha cream which wasn't too sweet. The donut was soft and good but the brulee sugar on top was hard and too sweet for me. My husband really liked it though and he's not a sweets person. Peach Donut ($4.50): This was a powdered donut with a peach filling. The donut was soft and tasted like a regular donut. It had the regular white sugar powder and orange peach powder. Was wandering around the Source food court when these aesthetic donuts caught our eye! PARKING: There's a parking structure with a good amount of parking, though you might need to go all the way up to the upper level of the structure to find parking if you're there on the weekend.
