People have been telling me to visit the bagel jar since I moved back to Buffalo. This location is a 45 minute drive for me, but worth every mile driven. I ordered The B-O-X A buffalo bagel loaded with Sahlen's ham, melted cheddar cheese, a hashbrown, and topped with hot sauce. It was delicious, the ham high quality and the bagel was top notch. I also got 6 savory bagels to go for my family to taste, they were impressed by the quality of the bagels themselves and the flavors! We had some for breakfast & plan to make sandwiches with the others. I didn't eat there but it was a good atmosphere, lots of places to sit. I plan to return for the lox bagel, next time. read more

I adore bagel jar. I've had their bagels a few times, this was my first time stopping in for a breakfast sandwich and it did not disappoint. The proportions of the sausage egg cheese and cream cheese was perfect, the bagel was salty and delicious and perfectly toasted. They also have a great selection of teas and coffee. My husband got the tater breakfast sandwich and an Americano and he also loved both. I love that the space is bigger now that theyve expanded, no issues finding a table. Went to the Hamburg location. The location is not the best parking wise, they do not have a parking lot so it's just street parking. But it was very easy to order online and just walk in and pick up the order on the shelf. The bagel itself was the best in the area, soft on the inside with a little crisp on the outside. I got the jalepeno cream cheese and it was amazing! They also load up the bagel with it so there is no shortage on any piece. Highly recommend! read more

I grew up on Long Island so I'm a bagel snob! These are good but not great. The high up charges for butter and cream cheese are a bit off putting especially when there isn't much butter on the bagel. I'm sure they're better, like all bagels, when they first come out hot. Kettle boiled then baked is the way bagels ought to be made and no other way should be allowed to call themselves bagels. At least they got that right. I'm sure they'll work out kinks but they're leaving the door open for a traditional bagel shop to come in from 5am-12n and turn out great bagels. read more

I ordered an everything Bagel for $2.50,honey Maple Pecan CreamCheese for only $1.50 more and the flavor explosion that washed over my palette was to die for. The flavor of the Honey Pecan Cream cheese did not overpower the crispy salty crunch of the everything bagel. The location has a nice outside patio for sitting on better days. The inside has a nice place to relax well your enjoying your morning breakfast. The entire process from ordering to getting my bagel was under 5 minutes tops. read more

My friend brought some home for me and I immediately dug into the cheddar jalapeño - this didn't even need warmed up, butter, or smear to be the absolute best bagel I've ever had. I am re-upping my five star review of this establishment. I had a doctors appointment in the morning where it was fasting. I was about 15 minutes away from the bagel jar and they closed in 10 minutes. I called there and spoke with the manager who was a lovely gentleman, he told me he not only would he personally make me The bagel that I wanted he would keep the store open for a few minutes until I got there. That is top-notch service right there. I can't thank him enough. I sat outside and had the bagel and a drink. The customer service is second to none. The ambience is excellent. They are real asset to this community and I hope they stay for years and years and years to come. read more

Nice addition to our little town. There's a nice selection of tasty bagels. And since their remodel a much more efficient operation. The staff seem friendly and responsive. When they opened the bagels were WOW. Big, fresh and almost always warm. However the last 3 or 4 times the bagels have been inconsistent. Obviously smaller at times and rarely fresh and hot. Which is truly disappointing . Yes they're better than any store bought and yes sometimes they're still exceptional. It appears to be a quality control issue vs a downsizing. We'll keep going for now keeping our fingers crossed it rebounds. read more

Read about this place, and became interested because I LOVE BAGELS!!! I happened to be in Derby one morning leaving a friends house (he was too hung over to go out for breakfast). That was my chance. The cafe interior is nice, including a bench area for people waiting for "to go" orders. They have paper menus at the counter. I was greeted quickly and pleasantly - BUT too quickly. This happens often at small eateries - being under pressure to order quickly without being able to peruse the menu. Anyway - I placed my order for an everything bagel with lox and a cold brew. About $20 (including tip). I sat down and my order took about 20 minutes to be made. I pick up the sandwich and I'm delighted to find that the "everything" is around the whole of the bagel. No one does that, and it was fantastic! The lox was super fresh and there were chopped Spanish onions and capers. Personally, I could have done without the capers because I HATE THEM. . I didn't realize they would be there. Also, I would have liked cucumber and/or tomato. Despite the caper issue - the sandwich was soooooooo good. While I was eating black bags (of bagels) were loaded into a car - ostensibly to go to retail locations? Where are those retail locations? I'd love it if they were close to the city! I love their bagels! First had them through some of the local retailers they supply through such as public espresso. So glad they opened their own location in Derby. The rosemary sea salt bagel is to die for. I love their lox and cream cheese breakfast sandwich on a rosemary and sea salt bagel. Not much to write home about in terms of ambiance. If you live in the South Towns - you know that we don't have options as far as bagels go. I was thrilled to see this brick and mortar open. Derby is not exactly close. It was a pleasant ride on rte. 5 along the water. Will I go again, probably not. This is a cute cafe. I'm thinking maybe ten tables. There are breakfast sammies available. Sorry. I don't do those. The bagels are really tasty, yet expensive. $2.50 each. Softer and maybe just a bit sweeter. Very good. Glad that I made the trip. Wish that we in the South Towns had a little bit more as far as options go. read more

Kind staff and curtius. Ordering on line is so easy. I highly recommend it. Bagels are fresh with a large variety. One is better than the next. My favorite is the one I try next. I have tried the toasted ham, cheese and egg sandwich. Quality ham and cheddar cheese was outstanding. Cooked perfectly. I often order a dozen bagels for the week. They freeze very well. So I saw there was a new bagel shop in Derby and decided to take a chance and try another bagel in western new york to be let down once again. To my shock this place has insanely great bagels , I am originally from the NYC area and have eaten thousands of bagels at genuine Jewish bagel shops. These shops have been making bagels for decades the same way to utter perfection and The Bagel Jar has tapped into the New York Jewish deli bagel. Their everything bagel I can honestly say is the best everything bagel I've ever eaten and I've eaten many. It's loaded with a coating of savory delicious crunchy seeds . Their coffee is excellent as well it's a local made coffee , so I'm excited to have this awesome place in my neighborhood . The design of the interior is a minimalist industrial look which is very refreshing and clean looking. The employees and owners are all very polite , friendly and helpful so it's a place you want to go and sit down to enjoy a great bagel egg and cheese bagel with a awesome cup of coffee.
