This is the first time that we have been to The Old Bagel House. We have been wanted fresh bagels that day and there are not that many options in Mississauga, so we thought we would give this place a try. We arrived at about 9:15 AM on a Saturday. There were a few tables that were occupied and a person completing his order. We noticed that they were also pulling fresh bagels out of their wood fire oven. We decided to order a dozen bagels, 6 onion and 6 everything. There was also a selection of cream cheese available for purchase by the gram, so we decided to add 100 g of the Herb and Garlic Cream Cheese and 100 g of the Chives Cream Cheese to the order. After placing our order, it was assembled quickly. When we arrived at home, the bagels were still warm, so we started eating them immediately. In addition to being warm, they were nice and chewy yet dense. They were also sweet on the inside and a bit salty on the outside. The cream cheeses were also very good, seemed to be home made as they were softer and creamer than the ones found in a grocery store. So, I'm not an expert in Montreal-style bagels, but these seem to be the real deal. The only complaint is the lack of parking since you must find a metered parking spot on the street, but I will still return.

I was introduced to Montreal-style bagel a few months ago when I visited Montreal. When a friend in Port Credit told us that there is a Montreal bagel shop nearby, we decided to get breakfast there. Montreal style is denser, less fluffy, and sweeter than New York style, which is what most of us are used to. Our favorite here is the big bagel twister, which is a gigantic bagel made with twisted dough looped into a ring. They have cute names for the other varieties: Simply Sesame, Only Onion, Proud Poppy, Exciting Everything... They also have cheese bagels shaped like a horseshoe, and they can do sandwiches too, but personally I don't like them too much, the sweetness feels weird with savory stuff, and takes some getting used to. It's a small place with about 4 tables, should you want to eat in.

So so so this place definitely lives up to its ratings!I have been wanting to try this place for a while and decided to go on a weekday around 11am.I am so used to the New York style bagel so was desperately wanting to try Montreal style which are slightly smaller, sweeter and denser, and are always baked in a wood-fire oven. As I walk in i'm the only customer in the shop and was well taken care of by the lady at the front. She was friendly and briefed me with the selection of bagels and cream cheeses. As a savory lover I ordered my all time fav the Lox bagel(of course toasted). It was def a 9, perfectly toasted and not overly lathered with cream cheese it was topped with good quality capers and red onions.I was in food heaven. There is a large selection of cream cheeses and bagels along with more savory goodies.I to-goed some sun dried cream cheese and chicken liver spread both were fantastic with plain bagels. They also keep mini bagels which are great for someone like me who has a small appetite. Overall the service was great, the place is very neat and clean. There is seating for about 15/18 ppl I would say. There is also a huge selection of sodas/pops/drink.There is plenty of metered parking next to them which is nice for Lake Shore. I'M COMING BACK FOR MORE!

Good morning Yelpers! I'm back at it, back at it again in the lovely community of Hurontario and Lakeshore. After my doctor's appointment... got that hungry feeling haha. So you know, I scoot my way down and saw The Bagel House. Thought I'd check it out and damn I love it. It's cute and small. Small little place that's warm and inviting to sit and have some good carbs and a lovely coffee with friends. However there isn't a lot of space okay? I got a lovely bagel with roast beef. With this option you can use any type of bagel. I opted for an everything bagel with toast beef. I believe they use sea salt which gave it a lovey flavour, plus pepper, plus mayo, lettuce and tomatoes. The beef taste hella good for me. I think next time I'd opt out the tomato because it's acidity is too powerful and you couldn't taste the beef much with it. Also, lay low on the mayo. I also got half a dozen bagels for home cause you know my family loves them carbs. I got Pumpernickel, Onion, Poppyseed and a Multigrain bagel without sugar and low cholesterol. I don't think they have vegan friendly products but they do have vegetarian options. On my way back home I could not help but munch on one of the bagels. I tried the Pumpernickels and it tasted real good, fresh, and it had that dark sweet savoury rye flavour to it which I like. The cost for the bagel with toast beef was $6.49 and half a dozen bagels I think was $6.99. Not bad. I'd definitely return if I'm in the area for a morning fix. Service was fair. Slow but that's because there was only one lovely woman at the front counter. Parking is side road if you decide to drive here.

While driving home couldn't resist the urge to try the still warm Montreal bagels! They have a sweet taste and kinda remind me of a pretzel! Sooooo delicious!!! We ordered 2 dozen.. won't last 2 days in my house. Also ordered Latkas, kishka and samosas! Because why not!? Was a steady flow of people when we went in. A lot of single people ordering bagels to have inside to eat. Pretty small place. Clean. 17$ for 2 dozen

I've had this place in my bookmarks for quite some time ever since I've read the review of a fellow Yelper (Barbara D) and seen her photos. While I'm not that far from Port Credit, I'm not exactly nearby either. The fact that bagels I consider to be a morning thing I would most likely just want to eat them in the morning so unless I'm going on a day off or a weekend I'm most likely going to go all the way to Port Credit for a bagel. I did however just go yesterday and I'm glad I did. Bagels can be found so easily in southern Ontario. Why? Well it's one of those things Tim Horton's sells. You know that place that's as ubiquitous as the Canadian flag? Well Bagel House isn't Tim Horton's, thankfully. There are a variety of choices here and they look far more appealing than anything I've ever seen at a Tim's. They can serve their bagels as sandwiches and put things inside such as smoked meat, lox or basically other things that Tim's just doesn't have. That in itself is a big plus. Now you can get to the variety of cream cheese that they have. I don't know where they get it from but it kind of reminds me of the long gone Daiters that used to be on Bathurst south of Wilson. Choices of bagels, choices of cream cheese and choices of insides. In all of it I just wanted a bagel and lox. I had asked for that and was asked if I also wanted onions and capers. That would be a yes! My wife just wanted a pumpernickel with plain cream cheese and cucumbers. For a small and light breakfast, this was exactly what I was in the mood for. A fresh, tasty onion bagel and lox. The inside is rather small in that there's only 4 x 2 person tables. While there's a couple large, stocked cold drinks fridges, you'll need to excuse yourself to gain access to them if people are sitting at the tables. For the two bagel sandwiches and two drinks the breakfast came out to under 15 bucks for both of us. The parking along this stretch of Lakeshore is in fact free before 10am. This place opens early (7am) so you should be able to snag free parking nearby otherwise there's pay stations on the sidewalk.

This is a tiny little place in Port Credit. My mom recommended it so we went this morning. They have a pretty extensive menu. I ordered the cream cheese with lox on a sesame seed bagel with capers and red onions. So yummy! I loved it. The bagels taste the same as the ones I've ordered from Montreal. Chewy and sweet and so tasty. Totally coming back!

I really enjoyed this place! For me, probably the best bagels in Mississauga and I'll definitely be coming back for more. A great feature in the Port Credit neighbourhood. First, parking. We visited on a Saturday morning and it was surprisingly pretty busy. Street parking in front of this place on a Saturday is free, and we were able to snag a spot. Second, the environment. The Bagel House isn't fancy - think diner-esque, with 4 plain tables, limited spacing. But it's very clean, and the bagels, pastries, various cream cheese options, are nicely organized and laid out. While it isn't a fancy shmancy Starbucks, you still feel comfortable enough to settle in and grab a bite. Third, the bagels. Yum. So, my personal preference: I prefer Montreal-style bagels over New York-style bagels. I love the thinner, denser texture and hint of sweetness - I like how it isn't as dough-y and thick and chewy (I know it's all in my head, but it makes me feel like I'm not eating something as carb-y). Here, we ordered: a) an Everything Bagel with Chive Cream Cheese and b) a Cheddar Chocolate Bagel - this was shaped like a horseshoe and stuffed with cheese and chocolate. How good does that sound, right?! It was flaky and crispy, sweet and delicious. A really nice morning treat! The Everything bagel was pretty much everything I was hoping and expecting it would be. Salty and sweet, generous toppings, and the great Montreal-style texture. Prices were also quite reasonable - I'll definitely be back! For our two bagels, we paid around $5.00.

Ever since I saw the sign for this place opening soon I've been excited for it to open. As a rabid fan of Fairmount Bagels in Montreal, I've been hoping for a legit wood oven bagel shop to open in this area and finally it has arrived. My girlfriend bought some coming home from work the other day but I wanted to experience it myself so we went back again this morning. The place: It's a small shop and most of the area is eaten up by the baking area & counters. There is four or five small tables for two as a seating area but this is not that comfortable given the amount of people waiting for service (the shop was plenty busy when we arrived at around 10am on a Saturday during the Jazz festival). Thankfully they also have a few tables outside so you can enjoy the beautiful streets of Port Credit. The back wall is full of drink coolers which even contain items like jars of pickles & cheeses to take home. There are a couple display areas showing off their custom flavored cream cheeses & desserts and of course the main containers for their bagel selection. The service: Despite a lot of foot traffic they were able to move customers along fast as you would expect. The bagel sandwich production was snappy and customers were taken care of quickly. The bagels we wanted (onion) were not available so the manager offered us some free coffee while we waited for the next batch and managed to up-sell us on some breakfast sandwiches for the wait. The food: The breakfast sandwiches came first. My selection was a sesame seed bagel with egg/cheese & bacon (at a 3.99 tag). The egg is cooked in a microwave with a dish that shapes it to the bagel and despite being nuked the egg was quite nice. Topped with some fresh ground pepper this is one of the best options I can think of for a good breakfast sandwich. They have other offerings of standard lunch sandwiches including ham, roast beef and of course Montreal style smoked meat. After the sandwiches were finished I was called up to select my mixed bagels. So far we have sampled the pumpernickel, onion & everything bagels. There are perfectly textured, not too hard or doughy and the flavors are lovely. The onion is a must-try and there is no wonder this one is constantly sold out! I will most certainly be back here often. Excellent bagel shop.

Coming from eastern Ontario, I missed my Montreal style Bagels. This place filled the hole in my heart. Fantastic customer service always, delicious bagels and fair prices.

Figured I'd visit this place before going to work today (yes on a Sunday..ugh), to see what all the fuss was about for "Montreal bagels". From what I hear, they are supposed to be heavenly. So my expectations were quite high. Were they met? No. But did I like the place? Yes. It's a small shop in the Port Credit village and they have about 10 different types of bagels that are all cooked in a wood oven as opposed to a normal oven. I had a breakfast bagel with bacon on an everything bagel and coffee for 6.50. The bagel itself was crispy/toasty on the outside and soft on the inside. I can say that I enjoyed it, but my expectations were much higher. I would say that this place for bagel shops in the GTA is more of a 4/5 for quality, where as Bagel Stop is 3/5 and What-A-Bagel is 4/5. So it's a decent choice for fresh bagels if you're in Mississauga, but not worth a long drive from anywhere else.

Authentic Montreal style bagels. Crispy on the outside and moist in the inside. Really good flavor of the dough. I had the lox and cream cheese bagel ( fresh salmon, the capers were not too briny and plain cream cheese had good flavor) it was the best one I've had so far. Definitely recommend!

I went here today and picked up 6 bagels: 2 plain,2 onion and 2 raisin. I just had the onion bagel and it's the best bagel I've ever had! It was loaded with onions I had it with cream cheese and it was amazing I would recommend this to any bagel lover. My daughter had a plain bagel with butter and she complained that it was it wasn't chewy enough. I don't like gummy bagels so this is perfect for me, but if you were looking for a chewy Tim Hortins style bagel this isn't it. The bagels are fresh and home made in a stone oven they taste great and at $5 for 6 bagels a great deal.

On my first visit, I had a hot chai latte with espresso and it was absolutely delicious. The second time, I tried the iced pumpkin spice latte and didn't love it. The pumpkin spice syrup is homemade, which is nice, but the flavor fell a little flat and the large glass was mostly milk, which overpowered the drink. For food, I've tried the egg sandwich simple but good. The spinach feta croissant was heavy on the spinach, light on the cheese, and even though I asked for it warmed up, it was still cold in the middle. Their bowls are very fresh, but I found them a little under-seasoned and could've used more dressing or a sprinkle of seasoning to tie everything together. Overall, it's a cozy spot with an inviting vibe (I love their "stay awhile" sign on the wall). I think it really depends on what you order and your personal taste. For some, the fresh and lighter options might be perfect. For me, a little more flavor and balance would make it great.

I recently ate my entire stash of bagels from both trips. The good news is that Kettleman's is coming to Etobicoke this fall. I still needed bagels, though. I headed to my local grocery store recently to get some. They weren't and aren't the same. On Saturday, I visited St. Urbain bakery and cafe, which makes a variety of Montreal-style bagels. I was in heaven looking at roughly a dozen different bagel flavours at the back of the store. A older woman asked what I'd like. She didn't come across as being warm. I asked for six sesame and six cheddar bagels. She said that it was $0.25 more for each cheddar bagel. I was good with that, although she didn't wait for me to acknowledge that I was good with it. I got all bagels in a paper bag. Yay! I thanked her. I was so happy. I felt like I had won the lottery, except that I had to pay for my goods. This bakery offers cakes, cookies, flatbreads, and more. I decided to simply get my bagels before I cleaned my entire chequing account out at this store. The woman at the counter was much more personable. She put my goodies in a plastic bag and threw in a couple of bagel bags. I used my debit card to pay. Credit cards aren't accepted. You can pay with cash, too. I have had both bagel varieties since my visit. They are soft and chewy where they should be. The cheddar is brilliant and yummy. I've never had a cheddar one before until now. It's worth shelling out a bit to have one. There is something about crispy, oven-melted cheddar that tastes delicious. I made myself an egg salad sandwich today. Some like celery in it. I do, but changed it up with green onion. It's so good with the sesame bagel. This bakery is in a plaza with parking all around it. There's a huge Starbucks cafe a couple of doors down, so it does get busy. I parked on the opposite side of where this bakery is and walked over. I'm glad that I can get my fix without doing a huge road trip out east. I am thrilled that I have found this bagel place. I am a happy Montreal-style bagel fan. (374)
