Everything bagel with lox onions and capers
Clara C.

Was recommended this bagel spot for some Montreal-esque bagels. I got the everything bagel with pesto dill cream cheese with lox, onion, and capers. Its a very old school bagel house - a counter to order and just a few tables. The bagel was really good, they stack the cream cheese and the its a small bagel but it is very filling. They have a lot of variety of cream cheese and bagel options. We also got the potato latke - it was warm and pretty good

This review was originally written on 2022-10-04, but forgot to post my review until now. I came back again on 2022-12-16. This restaurant sells Montreal-style (from Fairmount Bagels). I was curious if it were truly made the same way so I bought two bagels to try. They also sell many bagel cream cheese spreads. There are day-old bagels for $5.00 in a bag. Update 2022-12-16: The day-old bagels are in bigger bags now and cost more. There are all-day breakfast bagels, sandwiches, and salads. They make many other baked goods like turnovers, strudel, cream puffs, patties, knish, samosas, and latkes. There are also jams. The two bagels I had, Simply Sesame and Exciting Everything, had the same texture of Fairmount Bagels. It wasn't as fresh but that may be because I bought them at 17:00. The bagels at Fairmount Bagels constantly get purchased so you always get very fresh bagels. There are a few tables for indoor dining and a large screen TV. There are 5 locations in Toronto, with this one being the third. Many years ago, a baker from Montreal's Fairmount Bagels came to Toronto and started The Bagel House. He has since returned to Montreal and now owns Fairmount Bagels. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are washrooms in the basement, hence not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2022-134

Turkey Breakfast on a Plain Bagel
Jennifer K.

I've been meaning to try the Bagel House for a few months now since I started my internship back in January at an office nearby and finally got around to trying one of their breakfast sandwiches this week! I ordered the Turkey Breast Sandwich on a plain bagel, which was $6.75 and comes with an egg, cheese, turkey breast and mayo. It was delicious! A nice crunch from the toasted bagel, and each bite had a perfect mix of the egg, cheese and turkey breast. I didn't feel super heavy after eating it but it was also filling enough. The service was quick and while the store was a bit on the smaller side, they have a ton of menu options, including samosas, that I'm excited to come back and try when I'm in the area.

I'm still looking for a bagel place to match my last NYC visit. Bagel house is ok and I would go back. Not amazing though. I'm still on the search

Fantastic wood-oven bagels and pastries here. Their everything bagel is perfectly seasoned with all the regular fixings along with fennel seed and salt, bringing it to the next level. Their danishes are also very tasty and the spreads are fantastic. One of the gems of Yonge and St Clair.

Fresh bagels. Can't complain. Sometimes they have the oven going and you can get them super fresh but I've never had a problem with any stale ones. Usual standard sandwiches like Blts and Lox plus lots of spreads. Good choice for a quick lunch. Not a lot of counter space so grab and go. Recommended

Bagels themselves were really good. They are pretty authentic for the montreal style. We got two Black Forest ham sandwiches. They did however run out of the type of bagel we wanted by noon which was surprising and disappointing. Service was not very welcoming. Menu flashes on and off on their computer screens making it inaccessible to people with reading impairments. They did not have a hard copy or paper menu as an alternative. Also disappointing.

A bit confusing on how to order but you go to the back and order first and then pay afterwards. I got the everything bagel with their house made cream cheese and I was not really a big fan of the cream cheese unfortunately. The bagel itself was not as bad though. I would definitely come back and try one of their other specialty bagels.

Another off shoot the bagel house. I am quite familiar with the original spot and the mid town location. This one is decent as well. This was a spur of the moment purchase as I am partial to their liver sandwich. The oven wasn't running on this visit (I think the original runs 24/7 if I recall) but the bagel was decent nonetheless. Nice chewy texture with a sweet finish courtesy of the honey water. I am by no means a connoisseur for bagels let alone Montreal style. Good stuff for what you pay 3.5 stars.

I schlepped across the city to get a decent Montreal bagel in Toronto, and I have no regrets.

There is a large network of below-ground corridors and shops accessible from the business complex at 120 W Adelaide. Take the escalator down and follow the signs towards the food court. Bagel & Co shares a large, bright, clean, albeit slightly noisy food court with several other food counters. The bagels are decent, considering they are clearly not baked on site, and they have a much smaller selection than I would expect from a proper bagel shop: I saw plain, sesame, rye, and cheese. I also saw some bags of either poppyseed or everything bagels, but it wasn't clear if those were available for sandwiches or only to be bought by the half-dozen in the bags. I had the All Canadian, which is tuna and bacon with chive spread. It also comes with shredded lettuce and with red onion; I had avoided the smoked salmon bagel (the New Yorker) because I was going to a meeting after and didn't want to smell like onions, so it was a bit frustrating to have passed over the likely better sandwich and still get onion breath. lol. The All Canadian was underwhelming: very average to slightly dry tuna salad, and I had to open it up to confirm it contained a minuscule amount of bacon. If you're looking for an average tuna & onion sandwich, the All Canadian here is a fair option. Again, bagel quality was better than I would expect for a restaurant selling bagels that were clearly baked off site earlier today or yesterday. Choice of both bagels and schmears was limited. It's challenging to find for a newcomer but probably very easy for a local.

It isn't necessarily "plush-cozy," but it feels lived-in and welcoming in the best way possible. Let's talk about the menu: * The Cookies: 1000/10. Easily one of the best in the city. I tell myself I'll try the food next time, but I always end up walking out with a cookie instead. * The Coffee: A bit of a mixed bag. My first Iced Americano was a miss (espresso tasted over-extracted/burnt), but don't let that deter you. I went back and a different barista made me a Flat White that was flawless. * The Food: Haven't tucked into the actual meals yet, but they look promising. Definitely worth a visit for the treats alone!

Maybe my expectations were too high but for me, it was a pretty mediocre one. I went for a chocolate chip cookie, and a flat white. Was immediately disappointed when the barista asked me what size I'd like my flat white, as I knew it's going to be a "flat white" i.e cappuccino. And that was confirmed. Way too milky. Literally couldn't taste the coffee. The chocolate chip cookie was a little too crumbly and tasted a little burnt. Unfortunately won't be going again

My fav thing to order is the all dressed bagel with the spinach light cream cheese. The old owners used to be more generous with the cream cheese...it would ooze out when you tried to eat it. The new owners are more stingy with the cream cheese and the bagels arent fully toasted. I got one today and it looks that i need to ask for double toasted next time. Their coffee is ok, they provide brown sugar which is a bonus. I generally go to the second cup next door because the coffe is stronger, but albeit more expensive. They also have a loyalty card but I never bothered with that since I don't go there that often. If you have a craving for bagel with cream cheese, this is the place to go. The bagels are generally fresh and the cream cheese is of good quality. My cream cheese bael cost $2.57 tax included which is not a bad deal.
