This is a really gorgeous establishment visually. It's on the corner of the street so it has a nice and decently big patio around its side. We came here at around 1 o'clock on a Saturday and there was a short lineup with the queue to order moving pretty swiftly. They had a small insulated canteen with cups where you can get water. The actual weight for the bagel sandwiches took a long time. We luckily got a spot on the patio and waited for our bagels there. The girl shouts out the orders name inside and if no one's in there, she goes out to the patio to bring it out. It was a really good bagel. I got the bodega and added bacon and it was nice and salty with some cheese and some sauce and on the weekends they have their za'atar bagels so I got it on that and it was delicious. We were craving a good bagel spot in Toronto and came across this place. They had lots of options on their menu and of course we had to go for their classic breakfast choices! I ended up with the Bodega bagel which had a variety of fillings that had the perfect mixture of creaminess and savory. The sauce in it was sooo delicious. My friend got the egg and cheese breakfast bagel and decided to add bacon to it, and it's perfect if you want something simple but filling! The place was poppin on a Sunday morning on top of the workers needing to make more bagels and cook the fillings so we waited about 35 minutes for our order. There were a handful of coffee shops nearby, so we decided to walk around and grab a cup of coffee while we waited. There were only bar seats that had about 6 chairs in total, so be prepared to snag a seat when you can to eat your bagel right away. read more

Primrose Bagels located at the corner of Oakwood Ave and Earlsdale Ave serves up some of the best bagels in the city! Primarily a take out spot, this shop sells bagels, bagel sandwiches, spreads, cream cheeses, lox, and other condiments to go along with your bagels. Although it is primarily take out only, there is some window seating indoors as well as a patio to enjoy your bagels and sandwiches if the weather is nice. The shop is accessible by TTC (either the 63 bus or the 512 streetcar). I've been to Primrose Bagels a few times already but didn't realize I never wrote a review about it till now! The bagels at Primrose are some of the most delicious I've had in Toronto. They are fluffy yet chewy. I've ordered a few of their sandwiches (and specials) before as well as have bought their bagels to bring home. Everything is delicious and the place is always busy for a reason. I recently went to Primrose Bagels as they were doing a special collab open faced bagel special with Oroshi Fish Co. I had their previous collab before (which was bluefin funa) last year. This year, the special was a smoked salmon tataki bagel (hay smoked salmon, tataki, ginger scallion, karashi cream cheese, ponzu marinated onion, chive, and ginger scallion oil. I opted to have an onion bagel with it. The flavours and taste of the bagel and dish were great with the condiments. I thoroughly enjoyed my bagel and was definitely full afterwards. Service at Primrose Bagels was fast, efficient and super friendly. Although there was a bit of a wait for my sandwich to be prepared, I only had to wait about 5 mins. Staff at the back were hard at work prepping and preparing orders while the cashier was taking orders and fulfilling coffee orders when needed. Overall, a great place for bagels in Toronto. If you ever find yourself in the Oakwood Village area or want to just venture there for bagels, it is definitely worth the trek! read more

Incredibly busy but the staff was friendly and there's a great patio on the side with ample seating. I got the badoga on an onion bagel, which came with cheese, lots of egg, shredded lettuce and hot sauce. The bagel was nice and soft, and it was a filling and delicious sandwich. The wait can be quite long, so be warned. I think I waited nearly 30 minutes. Overall the bagels are great and I love the variety of sandwich options they have. Ample street parking but this place doesn't have a bathroom which is crazy?! I went on a Tuesday which happens to be the day when the library wasn't open until much later in the day. So literally wandered around the block for 20 mins before finding a bladder saving coffee shop. Anyhow, after my rendezvous around the block I was finally able to enjoy my beet salmon bagel. I would say it tasted like a pretty regular sandwich for the most part. But the ingredients were fresh and I liked the ability to people watch from the window. All the bagel lovers NEED to know about this place! If you're looking for a loaded and delicious bagel sandwich, this is your place to go. Arrived 5 min before they opened and people started flooding in as soon as they opened their doors it was insane! They have 6 different types of bagels to choose from - we got 1 of each to try at home. As for the sandwiches, I'm a lox lover so I had to grab one of those. They're so generous with their fillings I was so happily surprised - I actually felt full from the bagel afterwards (which is pretty rare in my opinion). The bagels were soft and fresh tasting and I feel I want to come here to try more of their prepared Sammie's. They even have ingredients you can take home to make your own sandwiches. The store itself is pretty small and humble but so cutely decorated, almost like a little shop in NYC (but cleaner). Overall, loved this place and will definitely have to be back - but I recommend coming when they open since it'll be super busy! read more

Food was a 2 but the service was really good so I'm bumping it up for that. Keep in mind they are a takeout joint so their service model has not needed to change much with the pandemic. Bagels aren't our style but that's not their fault - we found them dry and without chew. However I was disappointed in the lacklustre flavours in my tuna salad / crispy onions and pickles offered little contrast and texture I was expecting. Primrose is familiar to me. I remember seeking this place out because in 2019 they were doing some summer pop-up spots, and being the adventurer that I am if I keep hearing about something, I need to check it out. Some guys were selling their bagels at spots I go to already, so I dove in. What I was met with was the idea of Toronto having their own star bagel. NYC has theirs, Montreal has there's, so maybe these players were here to showcase their version, which almost seemed like an amalgamation of everything a good bagel is. I just remember having some good ass bagels. The End. Fast forward to now, and I finally make my way to their brick and mortar to really investigate. The game becomes different when you have a storefront. You are now a member of the community, and you reflect said community. If the spot hits, then that neighborhood now becomes a neighborhood with a bomb bagel spot. If it doesn't, then it fades away and that same neighborhood was never remembered to begin with. Heavy, right. I got the rock salt bagel, and buddy did I nail the order again. It's shiny and crunchy on the outside, and dense and chewy on the inside. Look at it. You can see it in the picture. I rip the thing in half and it's still stretching for dear life. That's a trooper right there. Ok, wait. Not dense where you're leaving teeth marks in the thing. Dense as in you're not biting into pockets of air. It's got a tooth feel to it. Strong bagel, in my always correct opinion. Let's not confuse ourselves here. This is not a cheap bagel. It feels a little strange to pay $14 for something I can cop at Tim's for like 3 bucks. So let's call it exactly how it is. It's an expensive fucking bagel. But I get it and eat it and it doesn't feel like I overpaid. Here's why. I got the Lox & Sås on a rock salt bagel. There's some heft to the bag when I get it. Promising. I take it out, unfold the paper, split the thing in half, and I'm happy. It's dense and packed with things that I want. The bagel is not light and it's not fluffy. It's good dense, and it's savory to the taste. Reminds me of fresh bread. It's stuffed with lox, scallion cream cheese, capers, dill, and mustard sås (think mustard that's sweet and savory). The lox is smoky and delicious. There's a lot of it too, so the price is starting to justify itself. The scallion cream cheese with the capers and dill is refreshing, and it's the perfect pairing with the lox. You guys know what I'm talking about. You have smoked salmon with dill and capers. They nailed it. Mustard sauce rounds it out and it's the Primrose look, which I liked. OH, and the rock salt bagel with shards of salt that explode with each bite. The bagel is the seasoning too. Damn. It's still $14. There's a lot going for it. I truly did love the bagel, and I would get it again. Maybe in a few months because I'm not trying to drop $14 all the time on this, but definitely let's run it back. The menu is extensive, so I'll for sure try more things, but just that this offering from Primrose made me happy. You've represented your neighborhood well Primrose. Review during Covid Lockdown, although this shouldn't really change things because there's no where to sit inside anyways. I saw one or two picnic tables outside that you could sit down at. Right now they're limiting 2 customers inside at a time. There's a sign posted on the front door. I went into pick up just bagels and saw that they have lox there. I don't eat fish, but i did grab a small pack ($17, pretty pricey) for the hubby. Him the kid both enjoyed it with some cream cheese that i had at home already so i guess it's $17 worth it. Bagels, I picked up one of every flavour they offered that day, which was 8. I wish i took a picture of the sign, but from my memory i got a honey oatmeal, plain, poppy seed, sea salt, zaatar, everything, garlic and something else..... Bagels are New York style i believe. Has a nice crisp outer layer, and inside is chewy & fluffy. Nothing like the dense sweet Montreal style bagels. I like both but each has its purpose. If i lived closer i wouldn't hesitate to pick these up as Kivas seems to have gone downhill in the last year or so. read more

Sesame seed bagel with smoked salmon cream cheese - Crispy on the outside soft and a little chewy on the inside- heaven!! The cream cheese was delicious and satisfying! I knew it was going to be good by the toasty smell and the wrapping contributed to the experience. Pizza bagel- delicious with sauce and cheese. Heated up at home the crust was chewy and the sauce and cheese was flavourful. It's why there's always a line up on the weekends. Primrose offers sandwiches, different spreads, a variety of lox, special of the day. You have to order ahead of time for a dozen bagels. The service and atmosphere was warm and friendly. Food - non-standard order, their pizza bagel (2/5) - There's a lot of hype for the pizza bagel due to social media. I'm excited by this new bagel shop in the area! The bagel flavours are unique and there are several to choose from. So far I've enjoyed salt and oat. The vegan cream cheese is the best I've ever had! Bagel texture is the perfect combo of chewy with crispy outsides. The cinnamon ruggala were also unbelievable. And their flavoured cream cheeses, mixed in-house, are worth the noticeable price premium. The bagels, however, are another story. Half way between a Toronto and Montréal bagel, they're bready but not soft, dense but not chewy, neither sweet nor malty. 3.0 stars. I really wanted to try a bagel sandwich with whitefish and this was the only place that I could find that had whitefish when I Googled. I bought a small container of smoked whitefish salad for almost 13$. Fish is expensive so I can't complain about that and it was REALLY good. I also bought 6 poppy seed bagels and 6 everything. The bagels are comparatively small compared to Great Canadian Bagel. I liked that they put a lot of flavoring on both sides of the bagel but thought they were overpriced because they are small. The bagel texture is different from others that I have. I live more than an hour away from this shop so I would not go back unless I was in the area. The whitefish was really good but I prefer less chewy and bigger bagels. read more

Hands down the best bagel in Toronto. All the flavor, chew and exterior texture you expect in a good bagel. A little pricey, and they can run out early but well worth the cost, and the effort to get there early. Why have I never seen a Za'atar bagel before coming to Primrose? I drive from Thornhill to purchase these bagels. They are expensive at $16.00 a dozen, but a very tasty bagel. They are a good size, crispy on the outside and packed with seeds. I have only tried the sesame, everything and poppy and both top and bottom are buried in seeds unlike other bagels that usually have a slight sprinkle in top. They freeze well. read more
