But, after a few hours, the stomachs started growling and we were on the road to 'Dack Shack. Nice little place in Lake Placid. We only had an hour to get something to eat since they closed at 8. I ordered the fish and chips and my wife ordered 5 wings, extra crispy and naked. Whoa! They came out hot, crispy and smelling wonderful. And they tasted great! The fries were so good too. The service was friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was homey, a little dark but comfortable and casual. It was clean. Prices were reasonable and affordable. Besides the super cute decor, they have a good Happy Hour, a connected gourmet market with lots of offerings and even a really fun kids' play area in part of the restaurant (kitchen play set to keep the kids interested during meal time). I had a delicious lobster roll--with a choice of fries, sweet potato fries or the most delicious homemade onion rings. The Dack Burger that my husband had was fantastic with lots of toppings. I was curious about the place, so I decided to stop in and check it out--and I'm glad I did! I ordered the Pilled High Ultimate Pulled Pork Sandwich, and it was delicious. The pickled radish inside added a fresh, tangy flavor that went perfectly with the tender pulled pork. The grilled hot pepper was also a great touch and complemented the pork really well. I chose the French fries instead of the chips. They were a little more well-done than I personally prefer, but still tasty. Their barbecue sauce was amazing too! The sandwich was definitely piled high and a little messy and hard to hold, but that's part of the fun. The pork was so soft and tender, and all the flavors worked really well together. I can easily imagine this place getting packed on weekend nights. It seems like a great spot to come with friends, enjoy good food, and hang out. Definitely a five-star experience. I'd happily come back!
