    Birria taco, carnitas taco

Amazing Mexican food! Sofia's restaurant serves really good and fresh Mexican food that doesn't sit heavy after the meal. The restaurant is cute and open. There's complimentary chips and salsa which was great to start. The tacos were delicious--the carnitas melted in my mouth and the birria taco was so flavorful. We also enjoyed the enchiladas a lot as well. They have a fantastic housemade hot sauce and the chipotle hot sauce is so smokey too. Their margaritas were so good and sweet, we both got the strawberry one with a sugar rim. And definitely don't miss the churros! They were incredible and a great sweet treat to end the night! Service was great and really friendly. Highly recommend Sofia's if you're in the area.

Great find out here in Saranac Lake. Easy and friendly service, bright and cool decor, and good food. We had the Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos and the Chicken Enchilada Suizas with red & green sauce. The staff is attentive and on pace. Didn't get to try cocktails or beer, but would definitely recommend.

Welcome to the newest restaurant in Saranac Lake, NY. Sofia's has elevated Mexican food that is not found in the ADK until now. Their P & P ( Prep and presentation ) is worthy of CIA graduates! Flavor profiles were spot on with multi-flavored sauces. Each course that came to us was meticulously presented with balance, and proportioned correctly. Our Grilled octopus was moist and delicious. Our Nopal shrimp salad was a treat with sumptuous cactus and was a citrus flavor bomb. The Carnitas quesadillas were amazing along with a Mahi Mahi Taco, and who can't order Tres Leche if its on the menu??OMG so good... Staff are friendly, attentive, and willing to please. The property has a minimalism Mexican vibe, clean, great Tequila selection. We had lunch but are really looking forward to a dinner if we can get reservations. Sofia's is quickly becoming a go to for Saranac Lake.

This is where you need to go if you're in our small town. Authentic food with more flare and flavor than I've had in a very long time. The previous very popular Mexican restaurant in town couldn't touch this place! The margaritas at Sophia's are traditional, made with lime juice. Sip slowly and enjoy the incredible flavor. Each dish the four of us ordered plus our appetizer completely impressed us in presentation, temperature and taste. My son's meal was served in a real volcanic rock bowl that looked amazing. There was enough food in his meal for the entire table. Each of us had more than we could eat and the flavors had us raving the entire meal! The staff was incredible...friendly, attentive and ready to assist. The manager walked the floor constantly looking thoroughly at each table. That in itself, was impressive. The bar is beautiful and although I didn't sit there, I plan to in the future. Great place to relax with a delicious flavored margarita, which they also serve. They noticed that it was the birthday of one of our group and surprised her with a gorgeous and delicious big piece of dulce de leche cake! Although the location is small, it has a good number of tables. I do see it becoming very busy as it gains popularity. Honestly, I cannot recommend Sophia's more! Go enjoy an authentic Mexican meal!

Margarita was very good. Food was excellent. Ambience is lacking because of location and space is small. Staff very accommodating.

My enchiladas were filled with a delectable combination of spinach and portabellas and topped by green and red sauces. Perfect for the end of a stressful week. I ordered a baked Shrimp Chimichanga with no onions. It wasn't baked. Not cooked. There were 3 shrimp in it. LOADS of onions, inside and out. Very little sour cream. Tons of stringy cheese? lettuce and chopped tomato for camouflage. This used to be a favorite place for locals and very crowded. No more. Two bar patrons were actually screaming at each other in an attempt at conversation. We complained. They moved our table. Didn't help. They should have cut the two guys off and asked them to leave. Very disturbing and ruined our dinner. Waitress was lovely but not did not check in often enough. Was not busy at all. This is very sad. Been a patron for many years. We won't be back.

The staff is very friendly but since the restaurant isn't huge, I would come early, especially if you have a large group, and put your name down since they get verrryyy busy on weekends/peak times. I had called the day before to get a reservation & was confirmed that they were busy but that they could seat us at 7 pm, which was perfect. We showed up at 6:50 & told the hostess we had a reservation to which she said she couldn't find us. When I told her we were confirmed to sit on the patio she again said she couldn't find us. I told her I didn't know what happened but we should have one, so she said, "Just a minute", walked to the back, then all of a sudden we were led outside to the patio at a table for 5. Strange. Our waitress didn't come over for about 5-10 minutes after that. When she came over, she took our order & then left. About 10 minutes later a new server came out & delivered drinks, spilling the beer at our table. This is fine, but he said, "Oh I'm new" & didn't clean it up. We then waited about 45 minutes for our food to come out. About 30 minutes in we asked the new server where the food was & he said, "I'll check but I'm new", then proceeded to not come back to our table. The food finally came out, but as this point our waters were empty. We never got refills until after we got our check when I asked for more water & then a pitcher was brought out & left at our table. Food was marginal. The chips & salsa you get with your entree only comes with like 6 chips, & overall food was just okay. Half our party liked it, half didn't. I understand if places are short staffed, but warning/notice/service letting customers know about it would be nice. Also I feel like refilling water is a bare minimum expectation at any restaurant. Giving three stars because I do think they have a good menu that feeds many types of eaters, & we had a good experience last year so this could have been a one off situation. Verdict's out on if we'd try this place next year when we come back.

But it's hard to imagine anyone having a better experience than we had at Cantina 32. This five-star experience starts off with the staff. The hostess that greeted us and our server (Kimberley) were about as engaging, friendly, helpful, and charming as anyone we've dealt with. They were so nice that after our dinner we had a long conversation with both in front of the restaurant at the hostess stand. After we made our U-Turn to get back to our hotel, they both waved goodbye as we passed their stand. We chose an outdoor table because the weather was so nice. My wife ordered the Cantina Chicken Quesadilla ($17) that was served with tortilla chips and cantina sauce, sort of a mild chipotle crema. She passed on the otherwise included rice. The dish was four big slices that were generously stuffed with chicken, onions, peppers and cheese. I went with a Cantina Salad with Chicken ($15.45). It was a colorful beauty of a dish with a shredded lettuce base topped with corn, onions, olives, green peppers, tomatoes, and chicken cubes. It was served with the same Cantina sauce. The food was great, we both loved our dishes. We also noticed a bit of a regional difference between the Lake George version of the quesadillas and the version we're used to. At home they are traditionally served with sour cream and salsa, but not here. I asked for salsa for my salad, and what came out wasexcellent -- clearly homemade and full of flavor. Our meal ran under $35 before tip, and that included some leftovers on the quesadilla. If you're ever vacationing in Lake George, trust me... you will LOVE Cantina 32.
