Husband had the Tres Hombres platter with three varied enchiladas accompanied by rice and beans. Overall, the experience was not worth the price! I got a chimichanga which was $17. It came with nothing. Just a singular chimichanga for $17. I got a side of rice and guac! The rice was crunch and $4 extra. The guac was $2 and in a super tiny container. I paid extra for sides and left hungry. No endless chips and salsa. Each were an extra $2. My glass of water also had white particles floating on the bottom. My husband got a burrito that only had meat and cheese in it and again$16 and it came with nothing sides. The burrito was covered in "burrito sauce". It was a wet mess of huge chunks of tomatoes and onions. It made the burrito so wet it fell apart. My server was very nice. But she never asked or brought refills on anything. We are on the outside deck and the chairs are narrow and metal; making them uncomfortable. Mexican food in Saranac Lake? Who knew? My friends did/do! They live there. So, they took me out to dinner to the only Mexican spot in town. Get there early-everyone goes there. It's a festive, loud environment with a hometown vibe since everyone seems to know each other...plus a mix of north country tourists. Great choice for a delicious Mexican dinner in Saranac Lake! I had a great experience and meal here. They serve you one serving of chips and salsa and if you want another serving it will cost $4. Their elote appetizer was delicious and very filling 5/5 (it was only mild to medium spice with the jalapeños)! Their tacos were also very delicious especially their market fish tacos. 3 of us went and everyone's food was delicious. Salsa was fresh and so amazing! Chips are made in house and not my favorite but not bad! Friends had chicken enchiladas with green sauce and chicken burrito. Both enjoyed it! I ordered the queso and chips and shrimp tacos. Queso was basic but amazing and I enjoyed it much better then when people try to fancy it up. When tacos came I asked for some hot sauce and mentioned I liked spice. Owner brought me his homemade ghost pepper sauce and it was PERFECT. Small amount went a long way but it was so delicious. Full of flavor and spice. I was really excited to try this place, especially when I drove past it for 2 days and saw that it was packed. while staying in Lake Placid with a group of 10, we decided that we were too tired to dine in so we decided to take out. We were a group of 10 and had ordered 11 items. The wait time wasn't too bad. When we got inside to pick up our food we noticed that they were quite busy so we did have to wait a bit. but that's okay. The price point for the items was good for dine-in but there wasn't a good value for money when we did take out. Our bill was around $180 and it definitely was not worth it. I wouldn't recommend getting take out from here, especially if you live 10 to 15 minutes away. The food was pretty cold when we got it and it did not taste that great. While we didn't expect it to be authentic Mexican, we noticed that a lot of the items had melted cheese on them and that really did not travel well, especially when we were eating out of takeout containers. We couldn't really heat them up So we were kind of just eating cold, melted cheese. A lot of our items were also pretty soggy and sauces and substitutions were definitely forgotten. We had ordered a Tres Amigos platter and requested that the meat be altered to be all chicken in the three enchiladas. When we open them up and tasted them they did not listen and they served it to us as it is originally given which is the beef, beans and chicken. Unfortunately for us it was too late and the people and the person who ordered it did not eat beef so they didn't have the best experience. Another person ordered a chicken burrito and asked for only onions and lettuce as well as burrito sauce to be inside the burrito and the restaurant completely forgot. they did not add any toppings or sauces at all. It was simply just chicken. I was hoping that some items would actually taste good, like a salsa or pico de gallo, but they honestly looked really sad and unappetizing. Overall, I didn't have high expectations for a Mexican restaurant in a small town, but I was hoping that the food would at least taste decent. I definitely will not be coming back here nor would I recommend getting take out from here. If you have a craving for Mexican food, this might be worth trying, but only for dine-in. read more

The place looked busy on Saturday evening so we decided to ignore the ratings on yelp to go there for dinner. The front staff was not the most friendliest ; I'm willing to overlook that. We were told the only tables available were on the patio and that they'd need to be cleared. I pegged that to be 5 min wait time tops....After what seemed like ages we were finally seated but the table was wet and smelled like used wet rag. I asked the staff who seated us to please dry the table and she seemed annoyed and did a cursory job at best. At this point I'd formed my opinion of her as rude. The house made salsas and hot sauces were delicious and appropriately spicy! The bartender was very nice and efficient. The only suggestion I'd make is to add Micheladas to the drink menu. It bugged me all night but I survived. I had enchiladas with chorizo and the shredded. Red. The plate was nice and hot. The might have been s tad more stuffed. The chorizo was spicy as suggested. Yum! The food here is good. As a Californian, I'm pretty picky about my Mexican food. So no, it's not the best I've ever had but it's definitely worth a visit. The service is impeccable and the staff knows the menu, which is important if you are like me and have food allergies. They are also more than willing to accommodate preferences and allergies and alter dishes to suit your needs. Gluten free, dairy free and vegan options are available at this restaurant. If we visit Saranac Lake again we'll definitely return and if we lived here, we'd be regulars. read more

The guacamole chips and salsa is a perfect starter to your meal while you sip on one of their many flavored margaritas. Try it skinny if you're watching your calories still just as delicious. I have never had anything on the menu that wasn't great, huge fan of the fish tacos with spicy slaw. Place is extremely vibrant and always full of people, both locals and visitors. However...the food was honestly some of the worst Mexican food we have ever had. It seemed to be a theme for our weekend...over priced dinners that under delivered. I was so excited to try this place while in town for the ice castle, and it wasn't good. Margarita was very strong, I was sad they didn't have frozen margaritas, only on the rocks. The menu didn't explain what you were getting very well, and the food wasn't good, I took a couple bites gave it to my boyfriend and went to McDonald's. We were a party of three and not one of us liked our food, and we all love Mexican. The chips they give you are very small portioned and it's an up charge for more, not worth it. Flies love this place! We sat in the restaurant-not outside-and spent the whole dinner swatting a handful of flies from our food, head, hands. What a rathole. How hard it is to get a cheap bug light?! She ordered the carne asada, I ordered 3 soft-shell 3 tacos. When they came to the table I realized that in some circles soft taco shells don't mean corn tortillas, they mean flour ones-not a problem, but not as good in my opinion. Her's came out looking like it had been heated in a blast furnace, because everything including the refried beans had a crust on it. But the benefit, as I patiently explained to her was that at least with a crust, the flies weren't able get stuck in the food. Yeah-she didn't laugh either...The cheese and onion enchilada might have been good had it not been welded to the dinner plate. We both tasted rice and concluded it tasted old. We have been to this restaurant twice in the past 2 months. Both times we were there around 4:30. One was a dine-in stop and one a take-out stop. We were told to order take-out meals at the bar. That take-out went very well, with the bartender being a 30 something female. This time we were stopping for take-out on a Tuesday night around 6:15. The lot was full and the bar area very busy. The hostess, once again, told my wife to make her way to the bar to order take out. I used the restroom and then joined her at her spot at the bar. She had been told by the bartender that it would be 5-10 minutes to order. When I joined her, I noticed that there was a large number of younger people at the bar. The bartender this time was a male in his 20's. A note here, I am a retired law enforcement officer and I still keep my hair short and know I still "look the part". About 1-2 minutes after I joined my wife, the bartender came over and said we would have to clear that area of the bar. No reason given and there had been people at that spot waiting for much longer than us before they got seated. He now informed us that the wait would be an hour and they might not even serve us take-out because they were so busy. Funny how his attitude and the wait changed so drastically after I joined my wife. My old instincts told me he was probably serving under-age patrons as he had not asked for any ID from what were obviously young patrons. We left and will not return. read more

This Mexican bar and restaurant advertises exactly what you get. Good Tex-Mex food with all the cheese, sour cream, and guacamole you could want. The margaritas were good and the beer was plentiful. Prices were fair. Most remarkable, however, was that they were able to adapt their menu to meet my idiosyncratic dietary requirements. They did so without complaint. We stopped in with a party of 7 and were greeted at the door by the owner(?) who was nice and friendly and set up a table right away. We were offered drinks immediately- good margaritas and virgin ritas for the kids. The chips and salsa were good and plentiful to start and we ordered the shrimp stuffed in Jalepenos because we couldn't resist. They were really good but the spice level in the peppers varied wildly so watch out. The Carnitas special with shrimp was an awesome plate of food and the Chorizo with plantains and sweet potatoes was really different and good. The vegetarian tacos with bean and avocado were also good. So much that it was lunch the next day too. The only boring one was the bean burrito- it was a little too plain, with a sort of tomato sauce on it that just wasn't flavorful enough.
