But it's hard to imagine anyone having a better experience than we had at Cantina 32. This five-star experience starts off with the staff. The hostess that greeted us and our server (Kimberley) were about as engaging, friendly, helpful, and charming as anyone we've dealt with. They were so nice that after our dinner we had a long conversation with both in front of the restaurant at the hostess stand. After we made our U-Turn to get back to our hotel, they both waved goodbye as we passed their stand. We chose an outdoor table because the weather was so nice. My wife ordered the Cantina Chicken Quesadilla ($17) that was served with tortilla chips and cantina sauce, sort of a mild chipotle crema. She passed on the otherwise included rice. The dish was four big slices that were generously stuffed with chicken, onions, peppers and cheese. I went with a Cantina Salad with Chicken ($15.45). It was a colorful beauty of a dish with a shredded lettuce base topped with corn, onions, olives, green peppers, tomatoes, and chicken cubes. It was served with the same Cantina sauce. The food was great, we both loved our dishes. We also noticed a bit of a regional difference between the Lake George version of the quesadillas and the version we're used to. At home they are traditionally served with sour cream and salsa, but not here. I asked for salsa for my salad, and what came out wasexcellent -- clearly homemade and full of flavor. Our meal ran under $35 before tip, and that included some leftovers on the quesadilla. If you're ever vacationing in Lake George, trust me... you will LOVE Cantina 32. read more

On a visit this week, I ordered shrimp tacos at the recommendation of the server as their top meal. I also had chips and a mango drink. The shrimp in the tacos did not have any seasoning in them, which really surprised me. It's the foundation of the dish. read more

We stopped for lunch today; mine was shrimp over a salad and the other was pork tacos, both delicious!! The serving sizes were more than enough, the pork was tender, and the shrimp was seasoned perfectly! Staff is friendly and sitting outside on the porch is fun in the summer! Wanted this to be better a spot than it was. We were able to sit as soon as we walked in and the drinks were decent (margaritas were a little watered down), the main course was very good flavor (delicious tacos and quesadillas), but the chips, guacamole and salsa was very disappointing. For the price you only got about 2 tablespoons of guac. The salsa (maybe 2 tablespoons as well) was not tasty at all. We actually didn't eat it after trying it and they charged us an extra $2 for it. We also got charged $2 for a tablespoon of sour cream as well, but the waitress swapped out the sauce that normally came with the tacos for the up charged sour cream. With that system they shouldn't up charged. The rice was also over cooked, but half the table liked it that way, the other half didnt. Bus boy was very friendly and helpful. Firstly, it would have been even better if they offered complimentary chips and salsa to kickstart the meal (every great Mexican restaurant I have gone to does this). Secondly, I felt that the prices were extremely high compared to the overall food quality. Moreover, the drinks seemed a bit lacking in alcohol content, which might be something to consider for those looking for a good cocktails. These setbacks unfortunately are the reason for this rating. It's a far cry from authentic-- their "carne asada" tacos are actually barbacoa. Lol. But for a small town Mexican joint, the food ticks all of the boxes. Our service was good and the food came out quickly. Though we didn't come during peak hours, which may or may not have had an impact on our service. Overall, the food was good. The quesadilla was our favorite and we'd order that again for sure. The "carne asada" tacos were just so-so; a bit too sweet for my taste. The guacamole was sour and off putting. Definitely not worth the up-charge. But the Cantina sauce was pretty tasty. The frozen mango margarita was fantastic! Overall, it's a good option for families in Bolton Landing. If you want a solid meal and are craving Tex-Mex (non-authentic Mexican food), Cantina 32 does a good job at providing yummy food with great service. There's not really many other Mexican restaurants in the immediate area. I stopped in with 2 friends after it started pouring rain last week and we really enjoyed our meal. The tacos I got were yummy and the beans & rice were well prepared. The nachos were okay but I wasn't expecting the best nachos in the world. Our waitress was attentive and she was funny, cracking jokes about the rain. We loved her! And the restaurant itself is nice, with red lighting and a child-friendly vibe and a few outdoor tables. Stopped here today October 4th, 2024 for a late lunch...it was really busy but Amy who is a bar tender and isn't typically a sever was amazing! She handled a full porch as well as inside without missing a beat! She asked how everything was...I joked with her and said spectacular but should I tell people in my review that you aren't used to serving tables and apologized to me 3 times for stepping on my foot....she said if that's the worst part of the review I'll take it. They have a menu item called Gringos. It's a ground beef taco like what you see in those Taco Bell ads. This should tell you the kind of Mexican this place is. Chips + salsa + queso: They tasted like what you get on sale for the super bowl to put out for the day. Store brand chips, "why is the salsa sweet" salsa, and from-a-jar queso. It's fine but ... Tacos: I ordered the Birria tacos and to their credit, it was pretty decent. Far from authentic but with the pickled onion and cojita, you could certainly feel as though you've gotten your money's worth. However why was the birria drowning in cinnamon? Decor: it's like when kids go to Mexico for the first time and get gifts from the "you forgot something" gift shop in the airport, then tell everyone they're "authentic because I got it in Mexico" decor. Service: they're doing a good job here. Treat them right. I don't know, I'm just annoyed by the fact they're trying to pitch this spot as some kind of Mexican restaurant when there's no mole on the menu? Just call it a Taco Shop or something and set the expectations a bit differently? I like the bar atmosphere and I like the drink menu. But the prices on the food don't match the quality of the food, and that's why I can't give more stars in this review. read more

So delicious!! The pineapple jalapeño margarita is sooo good!! So smooth and not too spicy! Chicken nachos are just what you want in nachos...gooey cheese! Yum!! Here's a good joke. Party of 5 walks into a bar.... Ok it's a restaurant.... They ask for a table for 5. The hostess tells them she can't seat a party of five. Yet there's a table for 8, 4, 2, 2, 2. So the party offers to break up into a group of 2 and 3. Hostess looks around at the tables and tells them she can't sit 2 and 3 either. ummm table for 4 can sit 3 duh and table for 2 can sit 2 duh. Apparently she can't do the math so is only capable of sitting even numbers. Young staff was clueless, rude and and needs training. But according to them the owner would have done the same thing. We stopped at Cantina 32 during our Lake George trip. We love the area with their little shops and restaurants. The food was amazing! Best Mexican food I have had in this area, by far! They were so attentive and kind, and told us to please be patient as the kitchen staff might take a while with our order since we were such a big party. We ate here yesterday and to say it was anything other than disappointing would be lying. We sat down (no one else in the place) and were immediately greeted (good start). We said we want margaritas and she said we have peach, mango, watermelon.... and I said do you have platinum and she said, no not yet. So I ordered watermelon and my husband a regular one. Two watermelons came and we were fine and they tasted good but we couldn't taste the tequila at all (oh well, disappointing, but okay). Then they brought the regular he had ordered and it tasted weird and was completely clear (which is odd for a margarita). We ordered queso fundido and it came out quickly (good again), but it was queso with no more than maybe at most a teaspoon of chorizo in the center (okay, they just opened and are new owners so we will let this go). The chips that came with it were very very good. We each ordered a quesadilla which were okay (sloppy to eat though). We paid the bill and left. In the car, we immediately said "those had to be virgin margaritas". It hit us they are new owners and probably don't have a liquor license, but shame for not telling your customers. We would never waste money on a virgin margarita or the calories (we would have water instead). Sadly this felt like a bit of a betrayal and will not return. Service was very quick and sitting outside on the patio on a nice night and watching the action on the street was entertaining . The food, however, was very disappointing. The chicken "fajitas" consisted of diced up rotisserie chicken (no sizzling platter) with some stale tortillas. The guac was good, but the black beans had literally been dumped out of a can without being cooked or seasoned. Guac was the only thing that was actually decent.
