Did you feel that you could eat any amount of food in one sitting? I thought so. So did my wife, my mom and aunt too. We decided to try out the Pickled Pig. Not knowing what to expect, we ordered 3 dishes that should have been easy to handle. What came out was beyond expectations. We ordered the potato skins with pulled pork, nachos and the rice bowl with pulled pork. Dang! These were big! But we were hungry after a long tour at the Olympic Center. Everything looked good, plentiful and smelled terrific. The only exception was a side order of Mac and cheese which was basic in appearance and flavor. The nachos were our favorite. Warm, crispy and loaded with so much to eat. I loved the pickled onions topping. The potato skins were huge and cooked to a crisp, which turned out well. Their pulled pork was tender and had a nice flavor. The atmosphere is bar-like, down to earth and has outside seating. Very rural but clean. The staff was very friendly and took very good care of us. The prices may be a bit higher than what you would expect from a bar and grill restaurant but the portions do make up for it. Try this place out. I believe that you won't be disappointed.
Ordered off the late menu. The wings only came in mild which was fine. There were three wings undercooked, pink. It was a moment you wonder if Amy of the others you ate were and didn't notice because you were so hungry. Ordered the Chardonnay, it seemed to have some effervescent to it and an off taste. The place itself is nice. Large bar, outdoor seating, sports games on. Will give it another try. Service was great very nice.
We came here on Saturday evening for dinner. We were able to get street parking across from the restaurant. It was Saturday night and a lot of places were busy and we wanted somewhere we could go with our dog. There is a large outdoor area that is nice and there was live music. The menu has a variety of BBQ options. I ordered the Baja Pulled Chicken tacos. These were not my favorite. They did not have a lot of flavor. For being a BBQ restaurant, they didn't even have BBQ sauce on the table. Whatever MOAB BBQ on the tacos was just kinda sweet and not my favorite. I also thought the prices were a little steep ~$24 for the tacos. I do not think I would return here unless I desperately needed somewhere I could bring my dog.
I came to Lake Placid for a few days to work at a conference and on my first day I looked up places to eat and this one came up as very appealing so I walked there for lunch and was disappointed to see they were closed. I checked the times online again (Google and their website) and saw they should be open, but weren't. So, I ate elsewhere. Ultimately, I came back on my last night in town and saw they were open and I sat at the bar. The bartender (a European guy) was less than friendly, never smiled, and hardly gave any attention to me, other than to ask what I wanted. Service throughout the entire visit was extremely poor from this guy. At one point, when I ordered my burger, I asked for cherry peppers to be added to it, he simply said "no!" and walked away. I asked him if he said no and he agreed that he did. I told him to come back and I showed him the part of the menu that showed where you can get bacon and cherry peppers added to the burger and this was what I was referring to, except that I only wanted the cherry peppers...He walked away. I ultimately got the burger and as I suspected, no cherry peppers were on it. This guy was literally one of the worst servers I've ever experienced. Along this topic, I noticed that several places in town had these European servers and I asked some locals about this, seems there isn't enough locals to handle the jobs, so they hire these folks, which is fine as long as they teach them some basic customer service skills and monitor their actions to make sure they're not upsetting customers, causing poor reviews for their establishments. When it comes to the flavors - Their chili was decent. It didn't have much depth of flavor and was highly tomato sauce based, but was decent. The menu said it was award winning, which I found interesting, because what I ate didn't taste very award winning. The burger tasted pretty good! The meat was perfectly seasoned and flavorful and the temperature was spot-on. The bun was great. The toppings were also very nicely done. Their fries were excellent! I loved the crunch on the fries, they seemed like they were par-fried then finished fried to order - very nicely done! Overall, my score comes from the terrible customer service. I saw others servers giving great service to the tables, but I made the mistake of sitting at the bar and having this guy. Also, there was a blond lady, maybe the owner or manager who was busy chatting with guests who she knew most of the time I was there and was too busy to check on other guests at the bar, even though she as at the bar too. Tells me that they clearly care more about the locals and those they know rather than those who are just passing through. Maybe it's the reason for their other poor reviews, which I think is sad considering their interesting and unique menu. If they managed service the way they put together such a great menu this would easily be a 5 star place! Hope they turn things around!
The Pickled Pig in Lake Placid has a really cool atmosphere and a great location right in town. The staff was friendly and service was decent overall. Some of the food was good, especially the barbecue flavors, but a few items came out a little dry and overpriced for the portion sizes. Drinks were solid and the vibe made it worth checking out once, but there's definitely room for improvement to make it a place I'd rush back to.
Food was just so sad. The crack burger was like a $25 big Mac sloppy with a soggy bun. The brisket sandwich was dry and crumbly also with a soggy bun that was supposed to be toasted. Worst part was the service. It was so slow we sat with a dirty table, waiting for the waiter to come back to take our form of payment after 20 minutes I had to go and ask for someone to please come so we could take our payment. Very disappointing would never go back there again. Would never recommend.
We had lunch here. It's so close to the Olympic Center, so.... minimal walking if you are tired. We were seated immediately, and our server was so friendly. I wish I had his name, I would recommend him. He was very welcoming and helpful when we were deciding what to order. We shared a plate of delicious pulled chicken tacos and nachos with a brisket add on. The soda was Saranac and very refreshing. I would consider this place to be a must go to if you are in Lake Placid.

If you're driving down Main Street, you can't miss The Pickled Pig! It's right on the corner and immediately catches your eye. I was curious about the place, so I decided to stop in and check it out--and I'm glad I did! I ordered the Pilled High Ultimate Pulled Pork Sandwich, and it was delicious. The pickled radish inside added a fresh, tangy flavor that went perfectly with the tender pulled pork. The grilled hot pepper was also a great touch and complemented the pork really well. I chose the French fries instead of the chips. They were a little more well-done than I personally prefer, but still tasty. Their barbecue sauce was amazing too! The sandwich was definitely piled high and a little messy and hard to hold, but that's part of the fun. The pork was so soft and tender, and all the flavors worked really well together. I can easily imagine this place getting packed on weekend nights. It seems like a great spot to come with friends, enjoy good food, and hang out. Definitely a five-star experience. Stopped in with the family for a quick bite to eat, and I am so glad we did! I ordered the brisket end sandwich--simply stated, it's the absolute best I've ever had. Beyond the food, the service was fantastic from start to finish. The restaurant has a wonderful, interesting ambiance with a rustic charm and a great folksy vibe. We will definitely be back! Additional Info: Outdoor seating, a small bar area, booths on the front side of the bar, larger table area to the left of the entrance. Metered parking on the street. Amazing friendly service with excellent recommendations for food. So many delicious options to choose from. Large food and drink portions. Great atmosphere, fun for family, and funny t shirts available. Definitely will be back when I'm in the area. Could not recommend more! read more

Before starting our adventure around Lake Placid, we decided on a spot to eat. So happy we chose the pickled pig! It was a nice day so we sat outside enjoying the Fine weather of Lake Placid. We open with adult beverages. Our server was attentive, friendly, and professional! For our main courses, I decided on their barbecue salad with brisket and my wife decided on the brisket barbecue sandwich. It may sound like a lot of brisket, it was, and delicious! The brisket salad was out of this world yummy! My wife's brisket sandwich had some harder pieces, but still was not too bad. If we are ever in Lake Placid again, I know where we'll be stopping. read more

The service here is good but the food is ok. The burnt end salad was ok but the burnt ends were a bit dry and served Luke warm. The chicken bowl the chicken was also a bit dry. read more

A decent size bar with TVs to watch games. A nice outdoor patio with fire pits. Food options are bar fare with a barbecue tilt It's serviceable but not extra extraordinary. Good sized craft beer menu to choose from and a full bar. read more

Finally some good BBQ in NY but it is 4 and half hours from my place! Just have another location but closer to Westchester county We had the chopped brisket sandwich that was packed with flavor and a sauce you wanna bottled up. Then also had the BBQ Rice Bowl with a good ratio of the delicious brisket to rice and veggies. One critique I had or didn't understand was we got seated first before two other "2-tops" just like us but they got their food out before ours. Luckily we were not in a rush and on vacation, but we would've like a warning why it took awhile; 3.5 stars overall cause of that. read more
