We were seated fairly quickly. The server was very nice and kept checking up on us. She also kept refilling my water quickly. It has the bar feel with huge tv screens showing the game. It has that bar feel but not so loud like many other bars. The wings and brussel sprouts were delicious. The pizza was kind of disappointing. The place is centrally located by Mirror Lake and on the Main Street. Beautiful rustic decor and has a bar inside it as well. The food was good and brought soon after placing the order. Our server Carlos was amazing. Very courteous and eloquent and nice. We could see the mountain and lakes from our table. The older lady at the bar whereas, was rude. All she did was stay at the bar upset and complaining (murmuring out loud) about how she hates the place, hates the bar etc etc. when we asked for help she was rude & literally yelling. Our go to breakfast spot. Good solid breakfast, large coffee mugs and friendly service.

We ate at the Dancing Bears because we were staying at the High Peaks resort... the first night. The second night we ordered from the Dancing Bears again because the next place we were planning on trying didn't do take out. The Dancing Bears has multiple gluten free options, and is able to modify due to allergens. We ordered the French Dip and the Nachos. Quality was pretty similar in food both nights, which is great! We really enjoyed the food. One of the nights was a little busy, and the host was a little flustered. The next night was less busy, and a friendlier environment. Remember to cut your servers and hosts some slack! We'd definitely return to Dancing Bears should we find ourselves in Lake Placid again! read more

While visiting Lake Placid for a leisurely trip with family, on a Saturday morning, my family and I ventured to this restaurant to have a delicious breakfast. Having recalled a past positive experience, we were in hopes that this restaurant would have the same delicious food this time around. We were seated immediately, but only to wait about 15 to 20 minutes just to get water. Meanwhile, tables around us were seated at the same time, before us or after were waited on immediately by waiters or waitresses with water other drinks and their food orders taken rather quickly. We had to ask a server who was not assigned to us for water. As soon as our server came to our table, she was obviously flustered and confused, and clearly had no training. We wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt thinking it was her first day, or that they were new. But the lack of training on the staff was appalling. Handling our cups by the rims where we drink off of and not by the handles or the bottom. We waited an hour and 30 minutes or more for our food to be brought to the table. Initially the wrong order was brought to the table, only for our server to be even more confused. There was a table seated behind us in a booth, that was waiting well over an hour as well. A couple with a child, They were quite upset by the service and by the wait time. Enough so that they stood up and left. Our meal was satisfactory, very average. The food was room temperature, nothing was hot and fresh. Everything became cold within minutes. We were very upset by this my family and I. And again the lack of service was dissatisfactory, the server did not come to check on our table once at all. Only until the very end once we finished our food did she offer us beverages and asked if everything was okay. The bill for our breakfast was astronomical, considering the wait time and the poor service that we received. I personally sought out a manager, who gave little to no apologetic response. My family and I were advised by another waitress to go to the front desk upstairs to the hotel to speak with a manager. There we were met by whom I assume is the hotel manager and restaurant manager. She apologized to us for our experience, however, we did feel very dismissed. Our bill was reduced by $40, but that did thoroughly tarnish our morning. read more

Traveling for business I always choose a hotel with a restaurant on site. Usually they're "just okay." The Dancing Bears Restaurant is an exception. Exceptionally good, that is! My visit was during the slow season in Lake Placid. Not winter for skiing and skating, and not summer with swimming and boating. Nonetheless, the restaurant was busy, but not too busy. I sat at the bar and really enjoyed my visit. I started with rum punch which was tasty and reminded me of the Caribbean. Kinda. I asked the bartender for a recommendation from the menu and he suggested Seafood Arrabbiata which was mussels, scallops, shrimp, peppers, onions, spicy marinara over linguini pasta. Yum! The seafood was cooked perfect. The sauce could have had a tad bit more heat in my opinion, but I like my Arrabbiata very Arrabbiata-ity. Also love the rustic camp feel of the place, just right for it's locale. read more

Nothing was overtly bad but I wasn't wowed. The view and the restaurant itself was very clean and nicely decorated. We got seated right away which was nice too for a weekend brunch. We ordered Bloody Mary's which we could see were prepared right away at the bar and then sat on the bar waiting to be drank for about 10 minutes before our waitress brought them to us. Our waitress was a little dry; she checked on us and brought us what we ordered but otherwise I felt like she was forced to work a double shift or something based on her persona. I had the hash with poached eggs and my husband had the eggs benedict. Again, they both tasted good but I felt like it was lacking something. I was a little bored I suppose. The shrimp Cocktail to die for it has the perfect sweet but spicy flavor in it. Don't Even get me started on the Pretzel it was so good and the Cinnamon Butter is literally like out of this world. We stayed at Lake Placid for a weekend and wanted to try The Dancing Bears restaurant in our hotel resort. It was good to be conveniently in the same location where we were staying and came for brunch. My food was really good between the scrambled eggs and a good amount of avocado on my rye toast with spinach. I didn't order the home fries but I took it off my husband's Eggs Benedict plate. He wanted it to be more flavorful, I thought it was perfect because you can taste the potatoes and it wasn't greasy or oily. My dish was a good portion for brunch. Other customers can enter from another entrance if they don't stay at the hotel. Mostly observed more people coming in if they were guests staying there. We were next to the window sitting on stools, the location was great to people watch, warm, and our waitress was attentive and friendly too. The prices were a little more expensive, but we didn't mind because it was our first time there and the portions and service made it an overall good experience. The mussel frite was a little disappointing because it was a little too salty, and it should've came with bread to eat with the sauce instead of fries. Margarita pizza had a lot of cheese in the center which made it soggy. It could've stayed in the oven for a little longer for that crunchiness. The cauliflower was covered in buffalo sauce so it was fairly spicy, not for me. read more

Waited patiently for a server while other tables sat after us were waited on. Finally was able to order a "medium" burger with a highly uninterested waitress. After watching other tables receive their plates we inquired with another waitress about our order. Food received but waiting another 10 minutes for silverware after asking another different server. Burger was extremely undercooked (rare), pancakes were cold asked to close out check and was charged for entire meal including untouched burger after being told that the coffee was the only thing I would be charged for. read more

My dining experience here was wonderful, and I'm surprised by the mediocre reviews. The burrata appetizer was *out of this world*. It was hands down one of the best dishes I've had during my stays in Lake Placid. They also have perfect French fries - not too crispy, not too salty, and just delicious. I dug in a bit before taking pictures (couldn't help myself lol). Super friendly service and just a chill, laid back vibe in general. Looking forward to going back sometime. This is a wonderful spot for brunch. I got here just as brunch was ending, but I was still able to order. The crowd was dispersing and there were plenty of open tables. Our party was seated very quickly. There were lots of great options available on the menu. I opted for the herbivore omelette and hash browns. I'm so glad that I chose this! My omelette came out last (at our table), but it was extremely hot and fresh. It was one of the best omelettes that I've had had. And, omelettes are my typical brunch order. I would definitely come back here and order this again. The hash browns were hot and flavorful, as well. They had lots of seasoning on them, but it was just enough. I'd love to come back here again to try lunch and/or dinner next time. I highly recommend this place. The atmosphere was very relaxed, as well. Excellent meal at Dancing Bears! We visited Lake Placid over a holiday weekend and this was easily the best restaurant experience during our trip. I'm not sure why this restaurant doesn't get more praise, and we almost didn't try it but so glad we did. Service was great, they are very friendly and accommodating. We had the Dancing Bears burger - VERY tasty, and the special of the day which was a delicious and exquisitely prepared Roasted Chicken with Risotto and Spinach. This dish was a standout and I hope they offer it up as part of their regular menu. It's amazing. Give this place a try, we found it was much better than some of the overrated and overpriced options in the area. read more
