Blown away by the food, service, and ambiance, the trifectas. Luna was suggested by a local we were visiting in Lake Placid, and it did not disappoint. Someone in our party had a food allergy and the service we very kind to accommodate and make suggestions. We went with an artichoke and shrimp salad and the NY strip steak which was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The lights are low in this restaurant, which gave us a cozy atmosphere to unwind from the long day, a welcomed change. We were glad to have had Luna recommend to us, so we can recommend to others. Service was a 4/5 while food was a 2/5. The staff were pretty nice, which was the only positive about our visit. We came here because Smoke Signals had too long of a wait, and someone in our party was getting hangry. The Caesar salad was the grossest thing. It was full of wilted looking leaves, soggy croutons, and drenched in all too much dressing. The spaghetti and meatballs was below average. It basically tasted like something a college student would make. Insanely overpriced for what this food was. It's more expensive than Boston North End with food worse than cafeteria grub. Do yourself a favor and go to Smoke Signals next door. You will immediately notice how Smoke Signals is packed and Luna isn't. It's worth the wait. read more

Stopped in for lunch. Very pleasant interior. I loved the bar as it looked old, or reclaimed from somewhere. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak which I enjoyed. Best veal parm on the strip! Its better than Jimmy 21 and its better than Black Bear. The veal cutlet is tender and delicious. The sauce is rich and flavorful and it is my most favorite red sauce in LP so far (admittedly, there is so much italian food in LP and SL so I have many more to try lol). The meatballs were a little bland. Thats really the only negative. The service was friendly and attentive. The portion was perfect and the price is on par for the area. Recommended! read more

The salad & dressing were good as was the warm bread & butter We didn't care for the bread oil as it was way too garlicky for our taste. We split the mixed seafood linguine and it was fresh. Nothing crazy special though, there was a pesto like flavor that was really good for dipping the bread. excellent service and food, smallish dining room, located on main strip , full stocked bar, daily specials, lunch menu lower prices than dinner , no view of mirror lake , suggest reservations at busy times, everyone in our group loved their food , prices on some items higher than expected, however all dishes were freshly prepared with decent portions. Luna is an excellent alternative to Cafe R, if you choose not to travel a little further. We will dine here again, for a more formal type meal on our next visit to the area. read more

Very nice small restaurant with bar. We appreciated that it wasn't too loud and we could hear each other! The staff was very polite, and there was a choice of pasta, seafood, steak, or chicken. My husband and I got the special and my my son got linguine with meatballs, and the meatballs were fantastic. We are pretty selective about meatballs so that's a real compliment. Food 3/5 Really liked the calamari and salmon appetizers, and the bread was lovely. Unfortunately the pasta was lacked flavor. Ordered the carbonara, fettucine alfredo, and veal with pasta, all had no depth and was just super plain overall. Interior 2/5 The kitchen's smoke pretty much made the entire restaurant smokey and hard to breathe. There were flies inside and disappointingly stuffy with not the cleanest smell when we first walked in. Service 4/5 Decent service, nothing to complain about. read more

The ambience here is adorable and the pasta was DELICIOUS as was the salad and bread it came with. Would have easily given this place five stars but the bartender was extremely rude and unfriendly towards us from the moment we sat down, which really ruined our experience. I know we all have bad days but as someone who also works in the service industry and specifically as a restaurant bartender, it's completely unacceptable just be standoffish with customers for no reason. I would consider coming back here next time I'm in town but would definitely opt to sit at a table instead, as the servers seemed to be super personable. read more
