Chicken Parmigiana with homemade pasta
Alex P.

I would highly recommend Jimmy's 21 for lunch or dinner! Holy gluten free pasta! They have rigatoni gluten free pasta which I actually liked just as much as their homemade pasta (not GF unfortunately). They have indoor and outdoor seating wi the a beautiful view of the lake. The seating is broken up into sections and we sat on the porch which made for a quieter and more romantic dining experience. Staff was very try nice and helpful especially with allergies. Parking can be rough on a busier day, but there are several public lots in the area. GF friends: AMAZING GF pasta! Highly recommend

Mushroom special appetizer

July 2025: My husband and I were visiting the Adirondacks area and were walking the downtown strip in Lake Placid looking for a place to have dinner. My husband walked into Jimmy's and asked a gentleman working there if they had any reservations open. The place was PACKED on a Tuesday night. The man responded, "when do you want to come in?" My husband said "in 40 minutes?" The man responded, "see you at 7!" Turns out, the man was none other than Jimmy himself! We were seated at a table on the patio overlooking beautiful Mirror Lake. The service was impeccable- we were literally treated like family. Everything we ate was outstanding and we couldn't have asked for a better dining experience! We believe that Jimmy's being family owned and operated is what made the experience stand out above the rest.

Fettuccini Alfredo

Came here on a Friday evening later around 9 pm. The workers were very kind. The inside is pretty and would have a nice view on the lake during the day. I ordered the French onion soup and fettuccini Alfredo. They were both good but nothing crazy. I thought the fettuccini Alfredo was a little overpriced at $23 with no protein at all. The soup was reasonable price at $10. Overall food was good and nice meal but a little too expensive for what I got.

Food was excellent with attentive service! I had the red snapper special, and husband had chicken with linguine and red peppers. So good! Will be back next year!

Burrata

What a good quality and family oriented/vibe Italian Restaurant. I highly recommend calling for a reservation due to how quickly the seats get filled and I understand why it's busy. The food tastes fresh and made with care. Their Burrata was the best thing I tasted since the last time I've been to Italy. If you are a big fan of ravioli and lobster, please get the lobster ravioli as it as delicious and melted like butter especially that sauce...exquisite. They gluten free pasta available that was incorporated with the bolognese sauce was literally one of the best bolognese we had in a long time. Despite it being busy, the service was consistently good and took care of everyone. Lake side part of the seating will be beautiful during the day but at night it is still something to look at.

Fantastic food and service . We had the mussels. I'd go back for just those!!! 10 out of 10 on them!

Linguine with white clam sauce

Our first time here and the food was delicious. We were going to sit outside but the temp dropped so we sat inside next to big window overlooking Mirror Lake. Our served, Zeke, was very good. I ordered veal scallopini which was excellent. My other half got linguine with clam sauce which he also thought was excellent. My only complaint is that we were swatting flies away the entire time we were eating.

We had a great meal at Jimmy's 21! The location right on the lake is beautiful, with lovely views if you sit out on the patio or near the windows. The menu has a wide variety of Italian favorites--our table especially loved the chicken parm and rigatoni a la Vodka. Portions are generous and the service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It's definitely a bit of a tourist spot, but still felt cozy and welcoming. Would absolutely come back next time we're in Lake George!

Calamari

Got 4 stars for service and entree. Had the eggplant parm and was 9/10 very good. The calamari was not good at all. Very bland and would not recommend. Great view at the back of the lake!

Definitely one of the best spots in lake placid, the view is amazing , our server was super . Food was decent, I just felt the marinara sauce was too much on the lates it had it. Dessert was great . Highly recommend if you are here to pay then a visit !

Mirror lake. View from my seat.
Chris W.

The service was outstanding! Great atmosphere. Italian standards as background music. Great seat overlooking a frozen mirror lake. Stunning. Get the lobster bisque soup and the calamari apps. I ordered a steak at an Italian restaurant. For me it's never up to bar. But I wasn't in the mood for Italian food. The steak was adequate but I don't recommend ordering it. The wife had a seafood meal and she loved everything about it.

This restaurant is terrible! My friends and I were visiting with 5 kids, all around 8 years old, and we waited for 2 hours without getting our main courses! The manager claimed we didn't make a reservation, but we actually did, just not in advance. If they take reservations, they should be able to handle serving a party of 16, or at least warn us that we'd have to wait over an hour for our food. We arrived on time at 5:30 PM, and by 7:30 PM, still no main courses! The manager was awful, and I seriously suspect racial discrimination. The table next to us turned over twice while we barely got appetizers and drinks. This place gets a 1-star review, and I absolutely do not recommend at all!! The manger terrible! There is no service at all!!!

After approaching a waiter, he mistakenly assumed we were part of a 14 person group. After about 15 minutes, he called us to that large table. We immediately questioned it and asked where our reserved table was. Only then did he realize his mistake and told us our table had already been given to someone else. We never sat down. There was no apology, no explanation, and no attempt to fix the situation. We were left standing in the middle of the restaurant with no guidance. The worst part was the bartender or server's behavior. She said that at some point we would be seated, but if we were not happy, we could come back another time. She said this smiling, with irony and disregard, as if delivering good news. She then went back to the bar smiling, ignoring us while repeatedly glancing at us, which felt dismissive and mocking. There was no manager present and no one took responsibility. No one explained what would happen next or showed any intention of correcting the mistake. We left and went to Peak 47, where we had the same prices, much better food, and truly professional service. The contrast could not have been clearer. Reservations clearly mean nothing here. Unprofessional staff, no accountability, and a complete lack of respect for customers. Avoid this restaurant.

It wasn't an ideal situation but it was our fault for not having an advance reservation since we just got into town when we stopped by. Unfortunately, the details of the promotion were not clearly communicated and the experience ended up being disappointing. The offer turned out to be 50% off a very limited menu (three items) and only between 11 AM and 1 PM. Our group arrived at 11:30 AM, but due to the wait for seating we weren't seated until after 1 PM. At that point we were told the promotion no longer applied, even though we had arrived within the advertised timeframe. After a long morning of games, the players and families were tired and just hoping for an easy lunch. Because the delay was on the restaurant side, it felt frustrating that the promotion wasn't honored. The food was average, and the overall experience was defined more by the long wait and confusion around the "comped lunch" than the meal itself. Several families in our group left feeling the promotion should have been explained more clearly. Lake Placid gets many youth hockey teams visiting for tournaments, so clear communication about promotions at The Pickled Pig would make the experience much better for traveling families.

The cranberry cider is pretty good as well. Shepards pie had very little meat/filling with a larger mashed potato ratio. Apple pie sounds great on paper but had little filling, leaving it super dry because it's baked as an individual personal pie. The whipped crème fraiche was delicious. Wings were nicely fried, crispy on outside and tender inside. Sourdough grilled cheese could've been better by using any other cheese besides Kraft singles. Clam chowder is superb. Beet salad was okay. Turkey burnt ends did not impress me and it's suppose to be their most popular dish. Chicken tenders were delicious. Fried fish was amazing! Huge piece of fish, served with tartar sauce and a side of incredible fries. Detroit style pizza is lackluster. The dough could've been cooked longer as it was underdone.
