Excellent service, excellent food & excellent drinks! The service was top notch. It could be somewhat confusing if you aren't aware of how it works here & you just go & sit at a table. The lower portion of the restaurant is like a self service type of setup, whereas the upstairs is a more conventional restaurant setup. Service is great either way, but you need to order your food & drinks @ the bar when dining downstairs. Another thing that may influence your choice is that downstairs is more of a home style or communal setup. There are tables & benches that amcan be shared if necessary as well as more casual seating options (like your living room or a Starbucks). They also allow dogs downstairs but, require they be seated on the perimeter which is nice, because even though I am a very pro dog person (I LOVE DOGS!) I have eaten in restaurants that allow dogs to be seated with their owners right in the middle of it all which can be quite annoying, but at the some time somewhat comical since it can be hilarious to see how people interact with their dogs in public especially when wearing their animal on their chest in a "Baby Bjorn" for dogs or a stroller/pram type of vehicle. Anyhow, I got a little side tracked, but what's important is the food, drink & service is excellent every time I have eaten there. The selections for food & beverages have always been tasty and varied. The only downside is that it may be hard to pick what you want, but the upside is that only requires you to go back & try a different dish. We typically really love this place but tonight was all misses. We ordered 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 1 cocktail, and 1 cold brew coffee. Our appetizers came out before the drinks, and then the entrees 2 minutes later. Still no drinks. 20 or so minutes after we ordered, our drinks came out. I ordered the Spa Day and it was one of the worst cocktails I have ever had. So over perfume-y, with a moldy flower floating on top. As it sat while I waited for the server to come back, it began separating and looked like swamp water. I sent it back and the server was very understanding and offered me a new drink. I still waited another ~30 minutes to receive my vodka soda. Which was completely melted and watered down by then. The server was very apologetic and explained something about a new bartender. She told us she was going to give us a discount, but only took the bad cocktail off in the end. So very displeased tonight as it was my birthday dinner and I walked away so disappointed. read more

On an absolutely perfect patio Taco Tuesday we walked into the Armory and were greeted by the amazing Elly. She gave us a rundown of the tacos on deck for the day and she was an absolute expert on their cocktail lineup, including the charity cocktail they are featuring for the month to support survivors of sexual assault. YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT... incredible food, service, ambiance AND community spirit. Mind officially blown. Our table ended up ordering the fish tacos, and the roasted butternut squash tacos. Butternut squash tacos, where have you been all my life? You might also be asking where are the tacos in this photo? Well, they were devoured before we could even stop long enough to take a pic. Oh, and why a fork and knife in a photo of invisible tacos??? Because I had to cut up the massive piece of beautiful breaded fish in the fish tacos. Both choices came with a lime crema I'm going to tell my grandkids about. I'm 48 though and I don't have kids, so that means I'm going to go adopt kids that will hopefully have kids so I can tell those kids about these tacos. That's how good they are. Had a nice lunch here. Server was great, but as we were leaving my husband I was checking out the rest of the restaurant and wanted to see where the line dancing and music happens. As I approached the door, one of the employees slammed the door in my face and hit my forehead with extreme force. I'm sitting here with a huge golf ball size bump on my head from it. These people are lucky I'm not the type to sue. This kid needs to learn how to exit doors from the right hand side. All restaurants teach this to avoid accidents. Well it has great ambiance. I like the outdoor seating that allows dogs. Although I don't know why they don't allow the outdoor seating upstairs if you have dogs. We went there with a group of 6. I wasn't hungry so I ordered a root beer float. Now mind you, I've never had one with ice. You don't put ice in a root beer float. The ice cream is suppose to melt in the root beer. I had to pick out all the ice. And then the server put a spoon into my drink that was way too short and it had disappeared into the glass. I wasn't thrilled knowing that she had obviously touched the spoon with her bare hand and now her DNA is mixed in with my drink. As a group of 9 we arrived right when they opened at 11 and we were all hungry with 3 hungry kiddos also. From the first impression not impressed by the workers. Then we sat down for a few minutes and then were told they were really busy the "night before" so they were not going to be serving food until 12? I have never heard of this happening at a food establishment. So we all left. Didn't seem like they cared for the business anyways maybe because they were hosting a private event but if that's the case close the rest of the business down so you don't waste anyone's time and push away potential customers. Our first time visiting The Armory. Recommendation from a friend. Interesting entry and table layout. A little disjointed. Once we found an upstairs table where we could be served, the experience of ordering was cumbersome for the waitress to enter. However the waitress was very friendly and engaging. Lots of typing for the waitress had to be accomplish and a few errors were made but later corrected. Noticed the table next to us experienced the same problems with their orders. We ordered a varied selection of food. The chicken salad was overloaded with mayo. The fries were greasy. I had the steak which was tender and very tasty. Service from the Bar came fast, however the drinks upstairs took awhile to arrive. Overall the experience was disappointing. The jury is still out on whether we would return to try the lower section for drinks and a bite. We'll see.. ;( read more

Ambiance was amazing. Ate here. Had the pretzel appetizer - DELICIOUS. The steak and frites, pretty good. Would have liked to have been able to say how I liked my steak cooked. Daughter had the kids homemade mini corn dogs and she said they were amazing. Son had the kids mac & cheese. He seemed to enjoy it. I went there for a class reunion and before you can order a drink they want to go give them a credit card to open an account, i always pay cash, they said I could open the account then pay it off, I said l don't use credit cards for restaurants I always pay cash and if you don't want my money I'll go across the street to have a drink and they did take my cash, but I wonder do they have a higher charge for a credit card and they don't get it if you pay cash so they want a credit card then add their surcharge then you can pay it off? I have never been anywhere that didn't accept cash. Maybe I'm old fashion but cash has always been accepted, so unless they have hidden charges which no one needs when you go to an expensive place they are just ripping you off so I give them thumbs down, it should be your choice how you pay not there's as long as they get paid, not planning on going back read more

I loveddd the aesthetics of this place! It was a HOT day and they have inside seating options, rooftop seating or downstairs outside seating. We decided to sit at the bar under some misters. We ordered both food and drinks! Right away I tried ordering a Moscow mule and the bartender let me know that the inside bar actually had to make it so I went with her recommendation of a canned Moscow mule! It tasted great and honestly I couldn't tell that it was canned. I also got the frozen pina colada they have in the machine w/ a rum floater! This was SO SO good and so refreshing in the 100+ heat. Definitely recommend if you like pina coladas. Each of us ordered different food: chicken sandwich, short rib tacos and Buddha bowl. All of us loved the food and enjoyed it so much. Just ate at The Armory for the second time this week! We arrived in to town late Sunday evening and The Armory was one of the few establishments still open. Bryan treated us like long lost friends and gave us good recommendations on the drink and dinner menu, as well as the recommendation to come back for Taco Tuesday. So we did. And it didn't disappoint! Today for Taco Tuesday, Elly took great care of us, again with great recommendations and a friendly chat. What a fun and friendly place! First of all, the tap water they serve is DISGUSTING. I took a sip and had to spit it out. The server said "it's the city water." No restaurant should serve water that tastes like that. Soooo... bad start. Then the main meals come out before the appetizer and no one seems to know we even ordered one. Same with my cocktail and mocktail. When those finally came out they weren't that good. Way too syrupy and sweet. The place is super cool looking so a nice place to hang out. The short rib tacos were awesome. The fish tacos were enjoyed as were the butternut squash tacos. Im thinking stick to beer bc you can't mess that up and it will quench your thirst much better than crappy city water. This place is all right to eat at. It's a wonderful place to hang out and probably have drinks. I like eating on the rooftop on a nice sunny day. Also, the staff is always kind and their menu has a variety of options that are fit for all sorts of people. Even the vegetarians also I think you're allowed to have dogs. I'm not sure but I seen a few dogs. And it's a wonderful location in Sonora downtown. They have parties Saturday nights I think because it's always, popping on the weekend with music.
