We spent a lovely evening on the misty deck of the Armory. We had a great meal. My friend and I had the chicken salad and my husband had the brisket sandwich. Elinor was our server. Brian & Lauren were our bartenders. MY GOODNESS!! Everything. Everything was so good. We were a party of 6 and we know how to order. Cocktails- Cherry Bourbon Sour my gawd 10! Get yoself some! Forever Fields- Good! 8/9 But I wish I would have the Cherry Bourbon! Dang!!! Appetizers- Pork Nachos was a 10, Bavarian Pretzels was an 8. The mustard was a 10! Chimchurry Shrimp was sadly a 5. A little dry. Suggestion, after grill toss in an Argentina Chimichurry. Now for the entrees. Good Lawd Almight! Entree's- Baja Fish tacos. 8 Delicious!! Well it has great ambiance. I like the outdoor seating that allows dogs. Although I don't know why they don't allow the outdoor seating upstairs if you have dogs. We went there with a group of 6. I wasn't hungry so I ordered a root beer float. Now mind you, I've never had one with ice. You don't put ice in a root beer float. The ice cream is suppose to melt in the root beer. I had to pick out all the ice. And then the server put a spoon into my drink that was way too short and it had disappeared into the glass. I wasn't thrilled knowing that she had obviously touched the spoon with her bare hand and now her DNA is mixed in with my drink. Although I didn't have any food, it looked delicious judging by what my friends ordered. read more

As a group of 9 we arrived right when they opened at 11 and we were all hungry with 3 hungry kiddos also. From the first impression not impressed by the workers. Then we sat down for a few minutes and then were told they were really busy the "night before" so they were not going to be serving food until 12? I have never heard of this happening at a food establishment. So we all left. Didn't seem like they cared for the business anyways maybe because they were hosting a private event but if that's the case close the rest of the business down so you don't waste anyone's time and push away potential customers. First of all, the tap water they serve is DISGUSTING. I took a sip and had to spit it out. The server said "it's the city water." No restaurant should serve water that tastes like that. Soooo... bad start. Then the main meals come out before the appetizer and no one seems to know we even ordered one. Same with my cocktail and mocktail. When those finally came out they weren't that good. Way too syrupy and sweet. The place is super cool looking so a nice place to hang out. The short rib tacos were awesome. The fish tacos were enjoyed as were the butternut squash tacos. Im thinking stick to beer bc you can't mess that up and it will quench your thirst much better than crappy city water. Our first time visiting The Armory. Recommendation from a friend. Interesting entry and table layout. A little disjointed. Once we found an upstairs table where we could be served, the experience of ordering was cumbersome for the waitress to enter. However the waitress was very friendly and engaging. Lots of typing for the waitress had to be accomplish and a few errors were made but later corrected. Noticed the table next to us experienced the same problems with their orders. We ordered a varied selection of food. The chicken salad was overloaded with mayo. The fries were greasy. I had the steak which was tender and very tasty. Service from the Bar came fast, however the drinks upstairs took awhile to arrive. Overall the experience was disappointing. The jury is still out on whether we would return to try the lower section for drinks and a bite. We'll see.. ;( read more

We went to the Bourbon Barrel specifically to get the piggy glasses and they did not disappoint. The drink is called the prickly pear Paloma and it was so good! Jessica was our bartender and she was awesome. We highly recommend this place! read more

What a fun little spot to go to. We stopped by on Mother's Day and were pleasantly surprised to get a nice spot up on their balcony, prompt and great service. Delicious food. 2 stars is being gracious. Ordered the French dip and brisket. The brisket was dry, with no flavor at all. The French dip was worse, the meat was tough and had no seasoning, and the au jus was flavorless and consistency and coloring of brown gravy. The coleslaw was super spicy which isn't mentioned on the menu. The BBQ sauce was delicious and flavorful, tastes just like bullseye BBQ sauce. I don't know if they got a new chef or stopped making fresh food but the food has gone way downhill since last year and the menu change. I ordered online for pickup and was ignored at the bar for a few minutes, it wasn't busy. All in all I don't recommend and think you'd find better food other places downtown. After a bit of back-and-forth, I trusted him with "Dealer's Choice." I gave him full trust to hand craft the perfect cocktail. DAMN! Ambiance was amazing. Ate here. Had the pretzel appetizer - DELICIOUS. The steak and frites, pretty good. Would have liked to have been able to say how I liked my steak cooked. It came on a skewer, cooked medium. Hubby had some tacos. He had the short rib and birria tacos. He said they tasted good in flavor but very dry. Daughter had the kids homemade mini corn dogs and she said they were amazing. Son had the kids mac & cheese. He seemed to enjoy it. I felt not great about spending $7 on it, as it was about 1 cup at best of cooked penne noodles with shredded cheese melted over it. We sat upstairs, as I mentioned the ambiance was awesome. The server seemed to have a lot of tables and maybe a little thinly stretched out. But she was nice. My kids also shared the brownie dessert, hubby and I each tried a bite. Yummy!! The only thing I will clearly say I didn't like: when paying you're presented with a handheld checkout. It goes straight to the total, then suggesting tip. I went there for a class reunion and before you can order a drink they want to go give them a credit card to open an account, i always pay cash, they said I could open the account then pay it off, I said l don't use credit cards for restaurants I always pay cash and if you don't want my money I'll go across the street to have a drink and they did take my cash, but I wonder do they have a higher charge for a credit card and they don't get it if you pay cash so they want a credit card then add their surcharge then you can pay it off? I have never been anywhere that didn't accept cash. Maybe I'm old fashion but cash has always been accepted, so unless they have hidden charges which no one needs when you go to an expensive place they are just ripping you off so I give them thumbs down, it should be your choice how you pay not there's as long as they get paid, not planning on going back read more

Just ate at The Armory for the second time this week! We arrived in to town late Sunday evening and The Armory was one of the few establishments still open. Bryan treated us like long lost friends and gave us good recommendations on the drink and dinner menu, as well as the recommendation to come back for Taco Tuesday. So we did. And it didn't disappoint! Today for Taco Tuesday, Elly took great care of us, again with great recommendations and a friendly chat. What a fun and friendly place! This place is all right to eat at. It's a wonderful place to hang out and probably have drinks. I like eating on the rooftop on a nice sunny day. Also, the staff is always kind and their menu has a variety of options that are fit for all sorts of people. Even the vegetarians also I think you're allowed to have dogs. I'm not sure but I seen a few dogs. And it's a wonderful location in Sonora downtown. They have parties Saturday nights I think because it's always, popping on the weekend with music. A pretty cool venue for a bar/restaurant! I came here for dinner the day after skiing up at Dodge ridge and I was impressed that there was a place like this in Sonora. I got the Kobe sliders and they were tasty. The bun was a brioche bun but it was crunchier than I initially thought it'd be (since at least when I hear brioche my first thought is a softer bread). I liked the sauce that was in the sliders, they helped with the dryness of the bread. And I like that it came with a lot of fries. In terms of the money's worth aspect it was on the pricey side for me, but the ambiance was good/bathrooms were clean/easy to park so I'll assume some of the cost is eaten up by or allocated to upkeep. read more

Definitely not the food it used to be and I'm sad about it. This is usually one of our fave restaurants in Sonora. We always get the bowls and they used to be huge and fresh and in a glass bowl. Last night they were literally half as big and tasted nothing like they used to. Service was overwhelmed but sweet. Pretzel was still amazing. Trivia was fun! Crossing my fingers the food improves. Bowls used to have lots of fresh raw veggies and were so flavorful. I hate the paper plates. Desserts were usually amazing, and brownie was melt in your mouth, but that's off the menu. :( Please bring back the bowls as they used to be. read more

First, I'm a local. We had fish tacos last week and they were good. Today, different story. The Mac n cheese was bland at best. Zero cheese or sauce. Yellow elbow noodles. The shrimp tacos were not so good. The service was excellent. Roger is the best server ever. But, Emberz across the street is far far better. Cool spot! You should check it out. The bourbon drinks we tried were delicious, with lots of unique options. We sat in the bar to the left of the entrance, and service was very slow, even to get water and place a drink order. There were very few people there dining or drinking so I don't understand why it took so long for anyone to acknowledge our existence even though multiple waiters and bar tenders passed by. That said the ambiance is super cool, and food and drink delicious. So patience pays off. read more
